    Please join the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department as they showcase their award winning S.H.A.R.E. Tolerance Program which educates adults and youth alike about the dangers of hate and intolerance, and encourages an appreciation for the diversity around us. Hate and intolerance are at the root of many of the problems we encounter in cities across the nation. Our country has reached the point where merely standing by silently condemning hatred and intolerance is not enough. Los Angeles County suffers repeatedly from the dangerous effects of hate and intolerance and each year, the Sheriff’s Department reports nearly 300 victims of hate crimes. In response to this growing number of hate crimes, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has created the S.H.A.R.E. Tolerance Program to help educate members of the community, particularly our youth, regarding the dangers of hate and intolerance. Using a custom-built mobile theater housed within a 70-ft van, sheriff deputies show a specially-made, 35 minute documentary film on hatred and intolerance. Following the video, the deputies facilitate a discussion about the film, the issues it presents, and the challenges of combating hate and intolerance. The program helps individuals develop leadership skills regarding tolerance and the appreciation of diversity among humanity, with the ultimate result being a reduction in hate crimes and an increase in peaceful, respectful interpersonal relations among people in Los Angeles County and the world beyond. AOC non-HREMS Continuing Education credit is available for those attending both the video and facilitated discussion. SPACE IS LIMITED.
