This is a section of the official Boeing website dedicated to the worlds largest jetliner series, the Boeing 747. This airplane is equipped with 4 engines, travels at a max ranging from approximately Mach 0.85 to Mach 0.82 depending on the model, and accommodates around 500 passengers. The 7478 is the latest version, which is powered by 4 GE nx-2B engines. "787 Dreamliner." Boeing. n.p., n.d. Web. 16 Dec. 2012. <http://www.boeing.com/commercial/787family/index.html>. This is a section of the official Boeing website, all about the revolutionary Boeing 787. It is a newer model of airplane that is lighter, faster, and all around a more efficient airplane. An interesting feature of this craft is its GE nx-1B engines. Usually the bleed air that gets filtered and then we breathe in an airplane is brought in and compressed through the engines. However, in the 787, this is all done through electrically generated compressors located elsewhere in the craft. This information is in the section that I discuss where the pressurized cabin has led to today.

"Absolute Freedom." Lockheed Martin Model 049 Constellation. Lockheed Martian, n.d. Web. 29 Oct. 2012 <http://www.lockheedmartin.com/us/100years/programs/model-049constellation.html>. This article from the official Lockheed Martin website was about the Lockheed Constellation commercial transport. This was one of the first pressurized commercial transports made. During the time when pressurized aircraft were first being developed and even up till now to a degree, Boeing and Lockheed were huge competitors. This was a useful article so as to know more about a very important aircraft to talk about on my website. "AERO - 787 No-Bleed Systems." Boeing. n.p., n.d. Web. 29 Nov. 2012. <http://www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/articles/qtr_4_07/article_0 2_1.html>. This article discussed in depth, the new, more efficient no-bleed electrical systems of the revolutionary Boeing 787. This incredible airplane completely gets rid of the regular engine bleed air systems normally found in an airplane, and uses electrical compressors that are integrated elsewhere in the aircraft. This is helpful to know since I talk about where the invention of the pressurized cabin has led to.

Air Conditioning Distribution System. Digital image. Google Sites, n.d. Web.
<https://sites.google.com/site/sf340com/air>. This diagram is a rough explanation of how pressurized aircraft cool, filter, and distribute the bleed air into the cabin. This I thought was good to use so as to tell you how these systems work, but also to be simpler to understand for a broader audience.

Airplane Engines Fan-jet (turbofan) Diagram. Digital image. Nomenclaturo. n.p.,

n.d. Web. 4 Nov. 2012. <http://www.nomenclaturo.com/tag/airplane-engine>. This diagram shows the basic inside of a turbofan engine and how it compresses air. This I thought was good to use so as to show you how the engine basically work, but also to be simpler to understand for a broader audience.

Nov. 2012. <http://www.nomenclaturo.com/tag/aircraft-engine>. This diagram shows the basic inside of a Turbofan engine and the location of its compressors. It is a rough explanation so as to be simpler to understand for a broader audience. These kinds of pictures were a little harder to verify, so I had to sue other pictures and cross-examine them.

"Boeing's New Airplane - 747-8 - Design Highlights." Boeing. n.p., n.d. Web. 29 Nov. 2012. <http://www.newairplane.com/747/design_highlights/>. This section of the Boeing website talked about the 747-8s design highlights. It includes information about the GEnx-2B engines, large cabin design, ecofriendliness, and even the passenger comfort level. The Boeing 747 series in general is the largest that there is, seating around 500 passengers. "Boeing's New Airplane - 787 Dreamliner - Design Highlights." Boeing. n.p., n.d. Web. 29 Nov. 2012. <http://www.newairplane.com/787/design_highlights/#/home>. This section of the Boeing website talked about the 787s design highlights. It includes information about the GEnx-1B fengines, aerodynamic wing design, eco-friendliness, and even the passenger comfort level. As mentioned in some of the other annotations, this is a revolutionary aircraft because none before have ever used this many electric systems. "B-2 Spirit Bomber." Northrup Grumman. Northrup Grumman, n.d. Web. 06 Nov. 2012. <http://www.as.northropgrumman.com/products/b2spirit/index.html>. This article is from the Official Northrup Grumman site and is about the revolutionary B2 Spirit Bomber. This stealth bomber is nearly completely undetectable, can fly over 6,000 nautical miles, and has over a 20 ton (40,000 lb.) payload capability. This is another one of the modern accomplishments that wouldnt be possible without a pressurized cabin.

n.p., n.d. Web. 4 Nov. 2012. <http://www.lufthansa-technik.com/cabin-aircirculation>. This diagram shows how air circulates from the engines to the cabin in a pressurized aircraft. Again, this is a rough diagram, not very detailed "Cabin Air Systems." Boeing: Commercial Airplanes. Boeing, n.d. Web. 04 Nov. 2012. <http://www.boeing.com/commercial/cabinair/>. "History: Model B-29 Superfortress." Boeing: History. Boeing, n.d. Web. 26 Oct. 2012. <http://www.boeing.com/history/boeing/b29.html>. This article from the official Boeing website was about the Boeing B-29, and how it was the first high-altitude pressurized bomber ever made. The article also explained that it was the first mass produced pressurized aircraft. It was useful in explaining which was the first commercially successful pressurized aircraft created, and what it was used for. "History: Model C-97 Stratofreighter." Boeing: History. Boeing, n.d.
