To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to affirm my interest in the ConnPIRG Issue Advocate position advertised on the U.S. Pirg web
site available in the Hartford, CT area. I believe that this position would enable me to apply and expand upon
my academic, administrative and research experiences within an academic setting.

I have a diverse background with two Master of Arts' degrees: one in history and the other in political science.
I have taught the following history classes: Western Civilization I and II, World Civilization I and II,
Introduction to American History I and II. In addition, I have taught sophomore and junior level survey classes
in American History and Political Science. Currently, I( work at the University of New Haven as a History
Instructor – Practitioner in Residence teaching Modern Western Civilization. However, It is with my interest in
government and research that I have worked at the Connecticut State Library as a legislative aide that I have
developed an interested in issue advocacy. In addition, I wrote and published a website for the Connecticut
State Library on how a bill becomes a law in Connecticut. As a skilled instructor in History and Political
Science, I have obtained many of the skills needed to become an Issue Associate: writing and communications
skills, research skills, and a keen sense of political discipline, As a result of these skills as an Issue Advocate in
Connecticut, I offer:

• Skilled ability to organize and implement research materials on a moment’s notice for presentation.
• Experience in using modern technology as a tool for instruction and information processing from
PowerPoint presentations to web-page design using cross platform programs and processes. This

media consolidation, and internet privacy issues.

I look forward to meeting with you to further+ discuss this opportunity. I am confident that as a ConnPIRG
Issue Advocate in Connecticut, I would make an immediate contribution to the ConnPIRG team.
