Girls Varsity Basketball Corner Canandaigua played a rescheduled game against (14-3) Irondequoit this past Saturday. The Braves came out firing early on three consecutive threes from Janae Guy, Ali Fitzgerald, and Dakotah Savitcheff, and led early, 9-7. Irondequoit answered back with strong showing from Abby White, who finished the day with 10 points, to take a 27-17 lead at the half. After a back and forth second half, Canandaigua trailed by two, 50-48, with just under a minute to play. After forcing a turnover, Guy found Mara Sindoni on a baseball pass for a layup with 15.1 seconds remaining. Irondequoits Savannah Crocettis runner at the buzzer was off the mark. Headed into OT tied at 50, both teams struggled to find a flow offensively. The Braves had an opportunity to win the game with 26.1 seconds left with the game tied at 54, but Mara Sindoni had the ball stolen by Lauren Ochs, who found Crocetti, who again failed to convert a last second try. In 2OT, Irondequoit went to the charity stripe, and used a strong performance to lead them to victory over the Braves on Senior Day, 61-54. Canandaigua will next play Sutherland on Tuesday at 7:45.
