The successful completion of this study would not have been possible without the help and assistance from a number of people. Firstly I would like to thank the residents of Plaisance for taking time off to answer the questionnaires given. Thanks to my family members for encouragement and support in completing this school based assessment. Special thanks to my teacher who guided me along each step of the way. Finally, thanks to God for health and strength given so that this may be a success.

This School Based Assessment (SBA) focuses on career oriented wives found in the Plaisance community, located on the east coast, six miles from the capital of Guyana. The researcher has been a resident in this community for 16 years and has realized that this particular area has a substantial amount of career oriented wives. This community is about 175km and there are approximately 125 households found there. The researcher wishes to investigate the views of husbands and community members on career oriented wives.

METHOD OF INVESTIGATION
The researcher decided to use printed questionnaires to gather information for this survey. The questionnaire is used because: - It is reliable. - It saves time. - The questionnaires are confidential.

PROCEDURES FOR DATA COLLECTION


Resident of Plaisance was selected randomly for this survey. There were 20 printed questionnaires distributed on the 28th November, 2012 to the villagers and collected on the 30th November, 2012. All 20 questionnaires were returned and analysis made.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION FOR DATA


For this survey 20 printed questionnaires were distributed to the residents of Plaisance. After the questionnaires were collected, the data were placed on graphs and charts.

Figure 1 shows the circumstances that may cause married women to work. 40% of the residents living in Plaisance assume that married women work because of independence, 40% supported financial problems and 20% supported poverty.

Figure 2 shows the problems that arise in the family of career oriented wives. There was an agreement between 45% of the residents of Plaisance that spousal conflict is one problem that may arise in the family of career oriented wives, 15% agreed that conflicts among siblings is one problem, another 15% supported decrease in the respect for mother by children and 20%, increase in social issue by children.

Figure 3 shows the benefits career oriented wives are granted. 30% supported the fact that career oriented wives would have a boost in their self esteem while 40% of the residents agreed on financial independence. The other 25% of residents agreed on the fact that career oriented wives may contribute to decisions.

STATEMENT OF FINDINGS
This survey has revealed that: 1. The children of career oriented wives tend to grow up being aggressive. This is agreed by 45% of the residents of Plaisance.

2. The level of career oriented wives in the area a medium. This is represented by 55% of the residents 3. Most of the married residents have been working for 11-15 years as supported by 75% of the residents.

RECOMMENDATIONS
Since there is a great need for mothers and a wife in the home, the researcher is recommending that career oriented wives should at least take a job that is closer to their homes as is mentioned by % of respondents.
