It is not their meat nor their blood, that reaches Allah.

it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His Guidance to you and proclaim the good news to all who do right.

Thereafter, when he reached an age in which he could work with him, he said, "0 my little son, I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering you, so consider, what do you think? " He said, "0 my dear father, do what you have been ordered to do. You will find me, inshalAllah, (if Allah wills) one of those who endure patiently." [37:102] - Some historical and exegetical reports tell us that the Shaitan tried to seduce Sayyidna Ibrahim away from it three times and every time Sayyidna Ibrahim pelted seven pebbles on him, and drove him away. Right through up to this day, on the three pillars of Mina, pebbles are thrown to commemorate this very endearing act.

So, (it was a great episode) when both of them submitted themselves (to Allah's will), and he laid him on his forehead [37:103] - Sayyidna Isma'il said to his father, "My dear father, tie me down well enough so that my body may not toss and turn too much; and also keep your dress protected, lest the drops of my blood spoil it which might reduce my reward with Allah, and moreover, if my mother were to see this blood, she will be virtually smitten with sorrow. And sharpen your knife, and run it fast over my throat, so that my last breath comes easy on me, for death is hard; and when you return to my mother, pay my respects to her and should you wish to take my shirt to her, you are welcome to do so, maybe it would give her the comfort she needs." Hearing these words coming from the lips of the only son a father has, who can imagine what would have been going on in his heart. But, here was Sayyidma Ibrahim like a mountain of fortitude, he says to his son, "Son, what a good helper you are for me in this task assigned by Allah." Saying this, he kissed his son and, with wet eyes, he tied him. (Mazhari)

and then We called out to him, "0 Ibrah'im [37;104]

you did make the dream come true!' This is how We reward those who are good in deeds. [37:I05]

This was indeed a trial that clearly demonstrated (their obedience). [37:I06]

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice. [37:I07]

and We left for him (a word of praise ) among the later people, [37:l08]

(that is,)" Salam be on Ibrahim! [37:l09]

This is how We reward those who are good in deeds. [37:I10]

Surely, he is among Our believing servants. [37:1ll]

- It is related by Sayyidah Ayshah that the Messenger of Allah said: "On the 10th of Zul Hujuh, i.e., the day of Eidul Adha, no act of son of Adam is more pleasing to Allah than qurbani. On the Day of'Judgement, the animal of qurabani, will come with its horns and hooves. And before the blood of qurbani touches the ground it gains the propitiation and good pleasure of Allah. So, 0 bondsmen of God! Perform qurbani with full willingness of the heart." (Tirmizi and Ibn Majah)
Performing Udhiya on behalf of Muhammad The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) himself performed Udhiya/Qurbani on behalf of his Ummah and family members - both the living and deceased. (Muslim, Ahmad, Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and others). In the narration recorded by Imam Muslim, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless

him & give him peace) laid down the ram, and slaughtered it saying, In the name of Allah! O Allah, accept from Muhammad, the family of Muhammad and the Ummah of Muhammad. (Sahih Muslim 1967) Moreover, Hanash (Allah be pleased with him) relates that, I saw Ali (Allah be pleased with him) sacrificing two rams. I asked him, What is this? He replied, Verily the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) advised me to sacrifice on his behalf [after his passing], hence I am sacrificing on his behalf. (Sunan Abu Dawud 2783, Sunan Tirmidhi 1495 and Musnad Ahmad) Performing Udhiya/Qurbani [or any other form of Ibadah] on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) does not mean that he is in need of a favor from us; rather, it is us who benefit. Imam Ibn Abidin (Allah have mercy on him) explains in his Radd al-Muhtarthat the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) has the most right over us in terms of us donating rewards of good actions, as a small gesture of thanksgiving and gratitude for what he has done for us in protecting us from going astray. [Add to this the fact that he did not forget his Ummah even when offering Udhiya/Qurbani]. This is similar to reciting Salawat on him and asking Allah to increase his status over and above what he already enjoys. It is for this reason we see Abdullah ibn Umar (Allah be pleased with him) performing Umrah on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) after his passing away without being instructed to do so by the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace). Likewise, it is established that some of the early Muslims would perform Hajj, complete the Quran, and sacrifice on behalf of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace).
