No doubt the news of Pope Benedict XVIs resignaon was a shock to just about everyone in the Church, not to menon the enre world. It is, to my way of thinking, a very generous and humble move on the part of the Holy Father, pung the life and needs of the Church ahead of himself. It is a truly Chrisan gesture.
Over coming weeks, we might remember the Holy Father in our prayers as he moves into rerement, and for the whole Church as we prepare for the elecon of the next Successor of St Peter.
Update on Property Proposal
Late last year you will remember that the Parish community was briefed on the current proposal concerning our current church buildings, and asked to comment on whether the Parish should connue with our invesgaons into the feasibility (or otherwise) of that proposal.
I would like to thank all those who took the me to parcipate in the community meeng and respond to the survey quesonnaire.
The results of the survey was overwhelmingly in favour of connuing our invesgaons of the proposal, while many of the responses that expressed concern about the proposal raised issues that the Finance Commiee has taken note of.
I would like to stress that this result does not mean that the proposal will be implemented yet. There is a lot more work that needs to be done in order for a more formal proposal to be placed before the Parish community for a nal decision. Responsorial Psalm Response: With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redempon.
Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord, Lord, hear my voice! O let your ears be aenve to the voice of my pleading.
If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt, Lord, who would survive? But with you is found forgiveness: for this we revere you.
My soul is waing for the Lord, I count on his word. My soul is longing for the Lord more than watchman for daybreak.
Because with the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redempon, Israel indeed he will redeem from all its iniquity.

When we process forward to receive Communion, we are asked by the Australian Bishops to adopt a common and unied gesture of reverence before doing so. In Australia that gesture is a bow of the head and shoulders (GIRM, 160). Any other form of reverence, such as a genuecon, is to be avoided, both because of the Bishops request for a common gesture, and because it is contrary to the nature of the Communion procession itself. Communion by selfinncon is never permied, since we never take Communion but rather receive Communion. Please refrain from doing so. We do not have the physical facilies to oer communion while kneeling, and kneeling while processing forward is inappropriate as it is contrary to the nature of the Communion procession. Please refrain from the pracce of kneeling to receive Communion in our churches while in procession.
