APPRECIATING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EARTHS RESOURCES TO MAN

We can show that we appreciate the importance of Earths resources by supporting preservation and conservation programmes. We need to support the efforts to ensure that *the air and water do not become too polluted until they are not suitable to be used by living things *flora and fauna do not become extinct *the soil is always fertile to support life *minerals and fossil fuels are not depleted by overuse The practice of reusing and recycling of materials is a way to ensure that resources on

Earth will be there for our use as well as for the use of future generations. Reusing refers to using discarded or unwanted materials to save on natures resources. For example, you can reuse your old unfinished exercise books as note books. Recycling refers to the processing of waste materials to become useful things in order to save Earths resources. For example, you may support recycling efforts by collecting old newspapers, bottles and aluminium cans for recycling.Nowdays, recycle bins are placedat various places to encourage people to practice recycling. You should learn how to separate waste materials and put them in to the correct bins.

IMPORTANCE PRESERVATION AND CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES ON EARTH..

People who are concerned with protecting the environment and the Earths resources often use the words preservation and conservation.Do you know the meaning of these two words? Preservation means maintaining certain areas of the Earth in their natural condition so that we do not lose them to development such as farming, industry, housing or tourism. Examples of efforts in preservation are the setting up of forest reserves, state parks, national parks, and marine parks. These efforts would ensure that the flora and fauna in

these protected areas would still be around for future generations to see. Conservation means the sustainable use and management of the Earths resources such as flora and fauna, water, air, minerals, fossil fuels and soil. Conservation also means using Earths resources wisely and not in wasteful ways.Conservation of resources ensure that we maintain sufficient quantities for future generations to use.

THE PRATICE OF REUSING AND RECYCLING..

Measures to reduce pollution, and to preserve and to conserve the Earths resources: a)Reduce usage of Earths natural resources. b)Use products made from biodegradable materials. c)Use less disposables. d)Use public transport such as buses and the LRT. e)Reuse materials whenever possible. f)Take part in environmental projects such as planting trees, cleaning rivers and compounds. g)Stop using products that contain harmful

substances such as chlorofluorocarbons. h)Monitor factories that pollute the environment. i)Recycle waste materials such as paper, glass, plastic and aluminium.

THE MEANING OF CONSERVATION..

Proper use of resources and strict compliance with the rules on conservation are the keys to protecting and conserving our limited resources.Conservation is the act of using and protecting resources properly.Catching animals, throwing garbage, and harnessing should all adhere to the proper way of conservation.

THE MEANING OF PRESERVATION..

Preservation of meaning in library, archival or meseum collections involves understanding spiritual, ritual,or cultural perceptions of value for specific objects, and ensuring these values are maintained and respected.Meaning is somrthing assigned to objects of cultural or spiritual significance based on interpretations and perceived values by user populations,a prpcess known as social construction of an object(Backer,77).When moved to memory institutions such as libraries or meseums, these objects of social construction require unique approaches to preservation and maintenance in order to remain relevant as representations of culturalor spiritual societies.
