Section A: Identified problem, Proposed Political System and its consequences or strengths to Springfield.

The fraudulent antics of ex-mayor, Joe Quimby, had left Springfield in a dire apocalyptic state of nature, with its population living a chaotic lifestyle. They live on the edge of survival, while being 100% vulnerable to external threats. Our proposed form of government is a hybrid of Aristocracy and Democracy. Selected aspects from Aristocracy, are moral and leadership training for governors, as well as a guaranteed anti-corruption ruling. From Democracy instead, we are choosing the basic right for the people to have a say in their preferred policies and schemes, though only to a small extent, and the practice of running checks and balances throughout the governmental body of the legislature, executive, and judiciary. This is to make sure that the elected governor is qualified by his moral principle and leadership skills, since almost no one in Springfield seems to be naturally mature for ruling an entire city, and that corruption(like embezzling tax and bending the law), does not happen again. We have also made sure that the government would be up-to-date with its populations wants and needs, since Joe was previously not bothered about his townspeople. The three governmental sectors would rise to defend against external aggression (executive), so that EPA or Shelbyville would not be able to take over Springfield, and to safeguard the rights of the minority (judiciary), so that the women in Widows Peak would have equality. There would be a few leaders in the system, to ensure that decisions can be made faster, in the dire and volatile state of Springfield. The leaders in this system would have training so that they possess basic moral principles and leadership skills for fair ruling. All of Springfields populace would first have to complete an easy test, that would critique their basic intellectual capability and moral soundness. If they achieve an A, they would be posted to a training school to further develop and test their leadership potential. This school would be run on the moral beliefs and intellect of the The Men Haters since they are the only intelligent beings in Springfield. To ensure that bias towards women does not translate into the schools syllabus, they would be threatened by the fact that Springfield would be bombed by EPA, if they do not start clearing up Springfields mess. At the end of semester, those who attain A* would stand a chance to be elected as legislature, by those who achieve a

B or above. This is so that the primary leaders are elected by a credible group. Future leaders would go through the same process. Leaders would have limited power, in the aspect that meetings with the populace would decide how policies are made. The minister would still have veto power. The proposed form of government would be able to solve most of Springfields problems. One advantage, is that the minority, the women on Widows Peak, would be given a chance to work and earn money. Their rights would be protected by the Judiciary as well. Word count: 499 words.
