Despite the fact that illness is part of human existence, we
never manage to get used to it, not only because sometimes it

stinct" makes us think of God as plenitude of life, and even

O nce again, Cardinal Mahony is asking all the

parishes of the Archdiocese to contribute to the
annual appeal known as TOGETHER IN MIS-
SION.
The purpose of TOGETHER IN MISSION is to
raise funds to help the most needy parishes and
schools in the Archdiocese. Every parish is asked to
raise 10 % of its offertory income (i.e., donations re-
ceived through the Sunday collection as well as from
baptisms, marriages and other sacraments).
This year’s goal for Holy Innocents is $29,425. This
is about the same as last year’s goal which, thanks to
our generous parishioners, we were able to meet.
Registered parishioners will have already received
or will soon receive an appeal letter from Cardinal
Mahony himself.
Today, Commitment Sunday, we will be asking our
parishioners to make a pledge. If everyone does his
or her part, we should be able to reach our parish goal
of $29,425.

is welcome. Entrance is FREE,
‘TOY STORY’ and the ICE CREAM, too!

Youth Choir provides the

more, as eternal and perfect Life. When we are tested by sickness
and our prayers seem in vain, doubt wells up in us and, filled
with anguish, we ask ourselves: What is God's will?
It is precisely to this question that we find an answer in the
Gospel. For example, we read: "He cured many who were sick
with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not per-
mitting them to speak because they knew him" (Mark 1:34). In
another passage from St. Matthew, it says: "He went around all
of Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gos-
pel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness
among the people" (Matthew 4:23).
Jesus does not leave room for doubt: God -- whose face he
himself has revealed -- is the God of life, who frees us from all
evil. The signs of this, his power of love are the healings that he
carries out: He thus shows that the Kingdom of God is near, re-
storing men and women to their full integrity in spirit and body. I
refer to these healings as signs: They guide toward the message
of Christ, they guide us toward God and make us understand that
man's truest and deepest illness is the absence of God, who is the
fount of truth and love. And only reconciliation with God can
give us true healing, true life, because a life without love and
without truth would not be a true life. The Kingdom of God is
precisely the presence of truth and love, and thus it is healing in
the depths of our being.
Thanks to the action of the Holy Spirit, the work of Jesus is
prolonged in the mission of the Church. Through the sacraments,
it is Christ who communicates his life to the multitude of broth-
ers and sisters, as he cures and comforts innumerable sick people
through so many activities of health care service that Christian
communities promote with fraternal charity, thereby showing the
face of God, his love. It is true: How many Christians all over the
world -- priests, religious and laypeople -- have given and con-
tinue giving their hands, eyes and hearts to Christ, true physician
of bodies and souls!
Let us pray for all the ill, especially for those who are most
grave, and who can in no way take care of themselves, but de-
pend entirely on the care of others; may every one of them be
able to experience, in the solicitude of those who are near to
them, the power of the love of God and the richness of his grace
that saves us. Mary, health of the sick, pray for us.

UNIDOS EN MISIÓN
CAMPAÑA ‘09
Ayúdenos a alcanzar nuestra meta.
Meta parroquial $29,425
Cantidad que se debe $29,425
na vez más, el Cardenal Mahony pide a todas las
parroquias de la Arquidiócesis que contribuyan en
la petición anual conocida como UNIDOS EN MISIÓN.
El propósito de UNIDOS EN MISIÓN es para juntar
fondos y ayudar a la mayoría de las parroquias y escuelas
necesitadas de la Arquidiócesis. Se le pide a cada
parroquia que junten el 10% de sus ingresos en las
colectas (esto es, las donaciones recibidas en las colectas
de cada Domingo así como las de los bautizos,
matrimonios y otros sacramentos).
La meta de este año para Santos Inocentes es de
$29,425. Esto es casi lo mismo que la cantidad del año
pasado, la cual gracias a nuestros generosos feligreses
pudimos recaudar.
Los feligreses ya registrados han recibido o pronto
recibirán la carta de petición del mismo Cardenal
Mahony.
Hoy, el Domingo de Comprometerse, les pediremos a
nuestros feligreses que hagan una promesa de contribuir a
UNIDOS EN MISIÓN. Este donativo se podrá
completar en pagos mensuales. Si todos ponemos de
nuestra parte, será posible reunir la meta de la parroquia:
$29,425.

BAUTIZOS DE INFANTES, GRATIS
Bautizamos los infantes y niños
pequeños los sábados en español.
Y con el fin de motivar a los padres
católicos a bautizar a sus hijos cuanto
antes después del nacimiento, no se
pedirá ningún donativo para los
bebés que tienen sólo un mes o
menos.
Los padres tienen obligación de
hacer que los hijos sean bautizados en las primeras
semanas; lo más pronto después del nacimiento …

NO TODAS LAS ‘IGLESIAS
CATÓLICAS’ LO SON
P uede ser que el templo se mira como
un templo Católico o que tienen allí
una imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe o
de otros Santos Católicos. También puede
ser que el llamado ‘Padre’ se viste como
sacerdote y que allí dan ‘Misas’. Nada de
esto garantiza que son Católicos
verdaderos en comunión con el Papa
Benedicto.
Tristemente, hay un numero creciente
de sectas nuevas que rechazan la autoridad del Papa y las demás
doctrinas Católicas pero al mismo tiempo dan la impresión a la
gente no instruida que ellos si son Católicos. Lo hacen porque
son ‘negocios’ y se aprovechan de la gente crédula. Los señores
encargados de aquellas sectas, aunque se visten de ‘Padres,’ no
están interesados en la salvación del alma.
¡Cuidado con aquellas sectas! Y anote bien: un Católico debe
asistir a Misa y recibir los Sacramentos solamente en una
parroquia ‘registrada’ con la Iglesia Católica, Apostólica y
Romana. Si no, los llamados ‘Sacramentos’ recibidos no son
lícitos en los ojos de la Iglesia Católica, Apostólica y Romana.
Si usted tiene una duda sobre una Iglesia específica, llame a la
notaría parroquial. Tenemos en la oficina un directorio de todas
las parroquias que están en comunión con el Papa y con el
Cardenal Mahony.

Billings, y lo que no es (algunos malosos los quieren
confundir haciéndoles creer que sólo existe como natural
el anticuado método del ritmo o calendario).
