STRATEGIC PLANS 2012 ENGLISH PANELS

Vision:

To be on the top 20 by 2012 of the district of Sandakan

Objectives:

1. To open the mind and create interest in learning English among the students and residents of Sek. Men. Keb. Simpangan. 2. To expose the students on the fun and enjoyment of learning English. 3. To create awareness and better understanding on the importance of learning English. 4. To create positive environment of learning English in an isolated place. 5. To prepare a group of students to represent school to any of the English Language based competitions set outside in the future. 6. To improve the performance of English Language, especially in terms of academic achievements.

Problems in Organising: 1. Lack of interest among the majority of students. 2. Lack of exposure among the students in their daily lives of the usage of English.
3. Obstacles in terms of facilities and getting the important items to the school

due to far distance. 4. Lack of financial support.

Threats of Organising: 1. Lack of co-operation among the students. 2. Unable to proceed with the events planned due to the problems with facilities such as PA system and electricity. Strength of Organising: 1. Good co-operation among the students who are really interested in learning. 2. Good co-operation among the teachers and staff. 3. Build interest among the students of something new in their lives. 4. Motivate the students and teachers on the importance of learning and teaching English in the most effective ways. Chances of Development in Organising: 1. High motivation among the students and teachers who are committed. 2. To improve the performance of English Language, especially in terms of achievement. Programmes Planned: 1. There are 4 types of programme planned as follow: Name of Programme No 1: Word of the Week Objectives: 1. To open the mind and create interest to learn English among the students and residents of Sek. Men. Keb. Simpangan. 2. To expose the students on the fun and enjoyment of learning English. 3. To create awareness and better understanding on the importance of learning English and knowing the vocabularies. 4. To create positive environment of learning English in an isolated place.

Duration: The whole year (during assembly) Target audiences: Students and teachers. Teachers involves: All English teachers. Working tasks: 1. Meeting with English panels. 2. Preparing of materials (words and manila card). 3. Presentation during assembly. Problems: 1. Lack of co-operation among the students. 2. Problems to proceed with the events due to facilities problems of PA system and electricity (students at the back unable to listen to the words clearly). Observant: 1. Head of English Panels. Assessment: 1. Continuation of the programme in the future for further development. Name of Programme No. 2: English Language Week 2012 Objectives: 1. To open the mind and create interest to learn English among the students and residents of Sek. Men. Keb. Simpangan. 2. To expose the students on the fun and enjoyment of learning English. 3. To create awareness and better understanding on the importance of learning English. 4. To create positive environment of learning English in an isolated place. 5. To prepare a group of students to represent school to any of the English Language based competitions set outside in the future.

6. To improve the performance of English Language, especially in terms of achievement. Duration: One week (16th 21st July 2012) Target audiences: Students, teachers and staff. Teachers involves: All English teachers. Working tasks: 1. Meeting with English panels. 2. Meeting with English Society. 3. Announcement on assembly (opening of the English Week). 4. Running of activities. 5. Preparing of materials for the event. 6. Training of students for performances. 7. Closing ceremony night. Problems: 3. Lack of expertise to run and monitor all of the English events due to only one option in teaching of English. 4. Lack of financial support due to big event that need bigger investment. 5. Lack of co-operation among the students. 6. Unable to proceed with the events planned due to the problems with facilities such as PA system and electricity. Observant: 1. Head of English Panels. Assessment: 1. Continuation of the programme in the future for further development.

Name of Programme No 3: Movie of the Week Objectives: 1. To open the mind and create interest to learn English among the students and residents of Sek. Men. Keb. Simpangan. 2. To expose the students on the fun and enjoyment of learning English indirectly. 3. To create awareness and better understanding on the importance of learning English. 4. To create positive environment of learning English in an isolated place. 5. To improve the performance of English Language proficiency (especially in pronouncing words). Duration: The whole year (every Saturday night) Target audiences: Hostel students and teachers. Teachers involves: All English teachers. Working tasks: 1. Meeting with English panels. 2. Preparing of materials (CD and PA system). 3. Preparing of venue. 4. Watching movies. Problems: 1. Problems to proceed with the events due to facilities problems of PA system and electricity (students at the back unable to listen to the words clearly) and also venue (large amount of hostel students). Observant: 1. Head of English Panels. Assessment: 1. Continuation of the programme in the future for further development.

Name of Programme No 4: English Magazine Objectives: 1. To open the mind and create interest to learn English among the students of Sek. Men. Keb. Simpangan. 2. To expose the students on one of the mediums of learning English. 3. To create awareness and better understanding on the importance of learning English in the easiest ways. 4. To improve the performance of English Language through learning in the form of informal way. Duration: March, June and September (once in three months) Target audiences: All students Teachers involved: All English teachers Working tasks: 1. Meeting with English panels.
2. Preparing of materials (collection of materials from English teachers and

students).
3. Printing. 4. Distribution.

Problems:
1. Problems to precede with the events due to facilities problems of producing

magazines due to problems with photocopy machine and electricity. Observant: 1. Head of English Panels. Assessment: 1. Continuation of the programme in the future for further development.
