Our family has never been one to pursue volume at the expense of quality. For nearly 150 years our rare Black Seal Bermuda Rum has been aged slowly in restricted quantities. This is a decided advantage for those who carry it, as demand far outstrips the supply. Goslings Black Seal has a rich, intricate avor, well balanced and nuanced with butterscotch, vanilla and caramel. Just put ice cubes in a highball glass, add 1.5 oz of Black Seal Rum, top with ginger beer. Squeeze lemon wedge around the rim of the glass. Garnish with lemon wedge. A ne substitute when you cant locate ginger beer. For a variation of the Darkn Stormy, mix your Black Seal with gingerale, a dash of Angostura bitters and a twist of lime. A favorite among captains. Replace the ginger beer with cola and there you go. One taste and youre lost. 2 oz. cranberry juice 2 oz. orange juice 1.5 oz. Black Seal Garnish with fresh orange slice. 2 oz. Black Seal, shake vigorously over ice, strain into a shot glass, serve with a sugar lemon slice.

202 years ago, James Goslings ship, brimming with spirits and bound for America from London, was becalmed off Bermuda. Providentially, James put ashore and never left. Soon the familys leisurely oak-aged, dark-hued rum became extremely popular, even as it was being sold in recycled champagne bottles with corks sealed by black wax. Before long, people were clamoring for the black sealed bottles and the name stuck. (The seal mascot came later.) Today, unlike most spirits, Black Seal includes products of both pot stills, as used in ne Cognacs, and continuous stills, as used in grappa. One imparts avor, the other yields a subtle elegance. Together they work wonders. Black Seal has become synonymous with Bermuda. Its the national drink and the island nations most widely exported product.
