Hospitals urged to open their own pharmacies

TACLOBAN CITY An official from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) regional office 8 encourages all hospitals in the region to open a pharmacy inside their facilities. Flood warnings have also been raised over Oras, Dolores, Ulot, Taft, Borongan, Subirano, Llorente, Balangiga and Sulat Rivers in Eastern Samar; and Catarman, Bungko, Pambujan, Catubig, Palapag, Mano and Gamay Rivers in Northern Samar. Floods were also reported in low-lying areas of Dulag, Mayorga, Abuyog, Dagami, Tabontabon, Tolosa, Sta. Fe, San Miguel, Alangalang, Babatngon and Palo. Meanwhile, a bridge undergoing rehabilitation and repair between Dulag-Mayorga road section was closed due to flooding at the Talisay detour bridge. According to the Leyte second engineering district office, coommuters were advised to take the Mayorga-La Paz-BurauenJulita-Dulag for north bound commuters and Dulag-Julita-BurauenLa Paz-Mayorga route for south bound. The Philippine Coast Guard meanwhile advised fishing boats and other small sea crafts not to venture out into sea while larger vessels were alerted against big waves.
In Tacloban City, the Traffic Operations, Management, Enforcement and Control Office (Tomeco) have activated its rescue unit in the northern part of the city after a four-year old boy reportedly almost drowned. Roads and homes across parts of Nulatula, Tigbao and Diit districts have been hit by significant flooding, Isabelo Lagutan, TOMECO information officer said. We advised residents in the northern barangays to be prepared for flooding from rivers and streams and surface water, Lagutan added. Reliance on remittances
p to now, despite the many business opportunities the government can engage in, our economy is still heavily dependent upon dollar remittances of Overseas Filipino Workers particularly from the Middle East. As it goes, our economy is like a car driven by whoever is elected president. This car cannot move on without these remittances, as though these were a bridge that has been cut off at the middle, its remnants hanging from both sides. The car will have to stand still, for a little movement forward could make it fall down into the deep ravine below. Not only is this car unable to move forward, it cannot also cross to the other side, which means that it is totally helpless without this bridge. Its an embarrassing truth but true. This being the case, the country has yet to nd other means that the government could employ in order to graduate from its total reliance on dollar remittances,
knowing that outside factors could hamper this monetary ow and thus paralyze the countrys economy. Problem is, this bridge could be impaired any time, and its likely destruction says it all our economy cannot afford to be entirely dependent on the amounts OFWs are sending home. There has got to be other sources of income that the government should tap to avoid relying all the time on this unpredictable, temporary source of income. What if no employers will hire them abroad anymore? What if, for reasons yet unknown, they will be sent home and banned from applying for overseas employment? Where, in these cases, will the government turn to for economic support? Sure enough, its time the government scouted for other means of income other than OFW remittances.

The corps of mentors is often victims of rumors of a significant addition to their salaries, there was a 3k, then 6k and most reliable a ten-percent supposed increase. There isnt any. A banner story is plastered in Manila Bulletin late last year boosts of increase in salaries for mentors and public servants , while CS9RPN TV then anchored by Sen. Orly Mercado declared that its not yet forthcoming, maybe next year it said. At present , DepEd is perceived to be the fapernatural character of our life. It cannot remain in the level of instincts, the practical and reasonable. It touches on our faith and religion. It goes beyond the worldly considerations, no matter how valid and legitimate they are. As a consequence, we cannot base our understanding of obedience on purely natural, worldly and temporal considerations. It has to enter into its more radical foundation and purpose. And thats the fact that it is a gift from God. It has to be governed by Gods will more than just our own will and designs. As a gift from God, it has to be understood as part of our nature. In other words, it is something to be lived all the time, in every circumstance and situation we may find ourselves in. its not something that we live from time to time. Its field of responsibility is universal. And so we have to develop the appropriate attitude and skills. Of course, we have to

What the sundry dont give is a real gesture, its fatally ironic that teachers who had done the best they could is focusing on the legacy factor and the progress of the individual learner . Most of them are consoling themselves pitifully in a cathartic manner; they are storing their riches in heaven, perhaps not in this world. Like it or not, they would also love to take it slow not just in summertime when the livin is easy , they would also love to feel easy in their ability to provide for their family . IIS a basic virtue that comes to us like an instinct. Its part of our natural endowments that at the beginning is ruled mainly by hormones. Thats why babies and children follow and obey their parents and elders without being taught. But as we grow older and reason takes root, as well as the fact that we would be exposed to elements more complicated than our basic need for physical survival, we have to realize that this virtue also has to grow and develop beyond its hormonal stage. We should not take this concern for granted. Otherwise, it would just get stuck at the level of the natural and what we consider as commonsensical. The truth is that obedience as a virtue has a coverage that extends way beyond these dimensions. In a manner of speaking, we need to apply some philosophical and theological antioxidants to our conception of obedience to protect it from some reductive or corruptive or distorting elements and to keep it on track to its full development. The economic struggle in Japan has compelled abaca exporters to temporarily stop buying lower grades, Espea told Leyte Samar Daily Express. He added that foreign buyers like the United Kingdom and China preferred high grade fibers than lower grades since most of them are engaged in the pulp industry.
Around 80% of the fibers produced by local farmers in the region are low quality and only 20% are high grade. He said that farmers are enticed to produce the low grade (JK) abaca fibers because they can stripped 45 kilograms in a day unlike high grades (S2) 15 kilograms daily output. The S2 grade is being processed as electrolytic (condenser) paper, high grade decorative paper, Bible paper, and dissolving pulp. JK grade, on the other hand is being manufactured into tea bags, coffee filters, meat and sausage casings, special art papers, cable insulation papers, adhesive tape papers, lens tissues, mimeograph stencil base tissues, and carbonizing tissues.

TACLOBAN CITY Three members of different political clans see no problem with the perception of their families being a political dynasty. Councilor Jerry Uy said he does not even consider himself as part of a political dynasty. Were only two in the family that is involved in politics. We should not be blamed for getting into important posts if this is what the public wants. We are duly elected by the people, Uy told Leyte Samar Daily Express. Uy is the brother of Councilor Wilson Uy of Palo, Leyte. People can scrutinize our track records. At the end of the day its still them who will vote. If they want our brand of service, we are willing to work for them, Uy added. He emphasized that there is no law defining political dynasty and even if there is a provision in the Constitution about it, there should be an enabling law defining it. TACLOBAN CITY We will use the money in enrolling all mothers who are with our care in the haven to PhilHealth, said Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Nemia Tapispisan when asked of how DSWD will use the proceeds of the fun run which the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation will give to their agency. DSWD is the local beneficiary of PhilHealth Fun Run held last Sunday here in the city attended by various sectors, government agency employees and local government officials. The institution will receive around a million pesos, according to Philhealth Region 8 VicePresident Walter Bacareza after the ceremonial turn-over with Director Tapispisan last Sunday. That amount is a big help for us in the agency because we have a lot of clients all over the region seeking our help from protection to health care after they giving the authority to become their protector by having them house inside the haven, said Tapispisan, adding that they would still wait for the turn-over of the amount to their agency. The fun run held last Sunday, according to Bacareza, was one of the most successful fun run among the 18 major sites identified for the simultaneous fun run event of PhilHealth for their 18 years of service. Miriam Defensor-Santiago providing that no spouse or person related within the second civil degree of consanguinity or affinity could run in the same province in the same election. Leyte SP bent on resolving boundary dispute of MacArthur, Javier towns

TACLOBAN CITY The provincial board of Leyte vowed to resolve the boundary dispute between the municipalities of Javier and MacArthur, according to Leyte fifth district Board Member Carlo Loreto. Loreto said the municipality of Javier is asserting the territorial jurisdiction over two barangaysPongon and Oguisan, which currently belonged to MacArthur. As of May 2010, Pongon has a population of 507 while Oguisan has 139. Both surround Lake Bito and some part occupy an area where a firm is mining for magnetite sand. A resolution from Javier was endorsed to the provincial board for proper action. It was however referred to the committee on boundary dispute chaired by Vice Governor Florante Cayunda, Jr., Loreto told Leyte Samar Daily Express. In the said resolution, the municipality of Javier has ordered the municipality of MacArthur to cease and desist from introducing and implementing programs, impose and collect taxes, make transactions, issue permits and licenses and other powers bestowed upon to the two barangays. The resolution further stated that when the municipality of Javier was created through Republic Act 3422 enacted on June 18, 1961, the barrio of Pongon and sitio Oguisan, which originally belonged to Abuyog, would form part of the newly created municipality of Bugho (the old name of Javier). Cayunda meanwhile in his committee report said the alleged boundary dispute cannot be resolved without the necessary documents that would support to the claim of the municipality of Javier. Nevertheless, the committee is not unmindful of our duty to resolve boundary dispute cases between municipalities within the province of Leyte. Indeed, unresolved boundary disputes have sown costly conflicts in the exercise of governmental powers and prejudiced the peoples welfare, Cayunda said in his report. Cayunda however, ordered both the municipal governments of Javier and MacArthur to submit duly authenticated copy of the law creating the local government unit or any other document showing proof

Ombudsman expects more cases to be filed vs bets this poll season

TACLOBAN CITY-The Office of the OmbudsmanVisayas, based this city, is anticipating cases are to be filed against elective or individuals running in this years elections. But whether the cases that are to be filed are meritorious or not, its up to their office in Cebu City to assess, says Julius Oballo, the office information officer. Oballo said that their role is just to accept the complaints and not to determine whether they have basis or not. As of this month, many of the 121 complaints that they have accepted, several of them involves elective officials. However, Oballo declined to disclose the exact number of public or elective officials who are facing complaints before their office. He added that they are following the rule of confidentiality reason why he could not disclose as to how many elective officials are facing with complaints before their office. We are anticipating that more complaints will be filed before our office as the elections draw near and as to whether these complaints have merit or not, it is up to our office in Cebu to determine, Oballo said. CAMP KANGLEON, Palo, Leyte The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) arrested a big-time illegal logger and confiscated a sizeable volume of illegally-sawn lumbers in an anti-illegal logging operation in Paranas town in Samar early Tuesday morning. We are giving a strong message that PRO8 will not tolerate any form of violation against the environment and destruction of our natural resources, warned Police Chief Superintendent Elmer Ragadio Soria, PRO8 regional director. The top police official identified the arrested suspect as Purita Dabuet of Brgy Cantato, Paranas, Samar, while the police are conducting manhunt operation against the driver of the vehicle used in transporting the illegal lumbers, identified as William Igdalino and his helpers. Soria disclosed that at around 1:00 o clock in the early morning on Tuesday, joint elements of the PRO8 Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG8) led by Police Inspector Constantino Jabonete, Jr and Paranas Municipal Police Station led by Police Chief Inspector Doughlas Antonio Eloja, together with forester Eddie Monsanto of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) conducted antiillegal logging operations in the area of Brgy. Lipata, also in Paranas resulting in the confiscation one blue Isuzu Elf truck marked St. Frances bearing plate number CSC 544 registered in the name of one Wilson Orsino, with postal address at Nagmisaan, Panique, Tarlac. The police caught the helpers of said truck unloading more or less 174 pieces of illegally-sawn lumber of various sizes estimated at 963 boardfeet, with a market value of P40,446.00, owned by Dabuet. Driver Igdalino and helpers managed to evade arrest by running towards the residence of spouses Banjo and Lydia Abegonia, also of said place, and escaped through the back of said house, while owner Dabuet was arrested by the police team. The lawmen, while chasing the running suspects, saw in plain view at the vicinity of the house of the Abegonias several illegally sawn lumbers of Lawaan specie in various sizes. The lumbers, estimated to have a total of 1,246 boardfeet and market value of P52,332.00, and one unit Resaw, a powertool used for cutting timber with motor dynamo, with serial number 748278 were confiscated by the police team. The team also confiscated one unit red Honda XRM motorcycle Honda XRM without plate number used by Dabuet in clearing the route area. Composite team arrests foreigner for violation of anti-trafficking law

TACLOBAN CITY A composite team of the city government composed of the City Social Welfare and Development, Office of the City Mayor, Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation had arrested Sunday morning a foreign national suspected of violating Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-trafficking of Persons Act of 2003. In the press briefing attended by Mayor Alfred Romualdez who heads the composite team, Councilor Cristina Romualdez who chairs the Women Shelter in the city of Tacloban, together with Attorney Lila Aquitania, legal counsel of Women and Children Shelter, and CSWDO Chief Liliosa Baltazar, the city officials informed that the perpetrator was a foreign national aged 70 to 75 years old. His victims were gay teens from the towns of San Miguel, Santa Fe, Calbiga, Calbayog City and Tacloban City. Twelve teenagers, four of which were minors, and eight young adults, were rescued by the city government and law enforcers in Sagkahan district. The youngest was 15 years old, Aquitania said. She added that as mandated by law they cant divulge the identities of the victims to include the suspect. What we can only inform you, is that he is a foreign national around 70 to 75 years old, Aquitania added. She added that based on the information they gathered, the foreign national offered the children to live with him in exchange of sexual favors, based on the testimony of a guardian of one of the victims who is from Calbiga, Samar. During the operation, Aquitania said that there was no resistance from the suspect who is now under custody of the NBI. The case is already filed at the family court at the Regional Trial Court in this city, she added. Furthermore, Mayor Romualdez ask the public especially barangay officials, to be vigilant to the presence of individuals in their area with suspicious actions. If they see people who are living with kids who are not related with them, they should immediately report it to law enforcers or to the DSWD to seek assistance, Romualdez said. He added that barangay tanods should also be aware of what is happening in their locality.
