Genset Control
for Multiple
Unit Operation

DESCRIPTION
The easYgen-3000 Series are control units for genset management applications. The numerous inputs and
outputs, along with a modular software structure, permit you to use the easYgen-3000 Series for a wide range
of applications with only a single part number. This includes stand-by, AMF, peak shaving, import-export, cogeneration or distributed generation, among others. Also the easYgen-3000 Series is compatible for island, island
parallel, mains parallel and multiple unit mains parallel operations.
The easYgen-3000 Series is able to control up to 32 gensets connected in a network with automatic sequencing.
The easYgen-3000 Series is available in two variants, the easYgen-3100 for cabinet back panel installation,
and the easYgen-3200 with graphical display and soft keys for front panel mounting.
FlexAppTM This feature provides the tools to easily configure the number of operated breakers: None, GCB,
GCB and MCB.
LogicsManagerTM Woodward's LogicsManager software enables to change the operation sequences and
adapt them to specific needs. The LogicsManager accomplishes this by monitoring a range of measuring values and internal states, which are combined logically with Boolean operators and programmable timers. This
enables to create and/or modify control and relay functions.
FlexInTM The analog inputs are configurable to operate with VDO, resistive, and/or 0 to 20 mA senders.
Flexible Outputs Speed and voltage bias outputs are configurable to function with all speed governors and
voltage regulators. The outputs can also be used as freely scalable outputs (e.g. for driving external meters).

Peak shaving operation

Stand-by operation
AMF operation
Cogeneration (CHP)
Isolated & mains parallel
operation
Import/export control
Soft loading features
Open/closed transition

FlexCANTM Advanced network interfaces ensure unsurpassed control performance from engine control up
to total plant operation. The easYgen-3000 Series is capable of working with all common industrial interfaces,
including CAN, RS-232, and RS-485. The multiple communication protocols permit the easYgen-3000 Series to
communicate with a vast majority of engine control units (ECUs), external I/O boards, PLCs, and modems.
CANopen, J1939, Modbus RTU, and Modem protocols are supported.

Load sharing and loaddependent start/stop for

up to 32 units

DynamicsLCDTM The adaptive and interactive 5.7", 320x240 pixel graphical LC display with soft keys and a
clear menu structure ensures intuitive user operation and navigation.

Programmable operation

Changeover switches with fully visualised breaking

from 125 to 3200 A
Function

General characteristics

SIRCOVER products are manually

operated multipolar changeover switches.
They provide changeover, source inversion
or switching under load between two low
voltage power circuits, as well as their
safety isolation.

3 stable positions, (I, 0, II) or overlapping

contacts (I, I+II, II), and on load
changeover switching (AC-22 and AC-23).
Fully visualized breaking.
IP20 devices and accessories.

SIRCOVER BY-PASS are manually

operated changeover switches.
They are a combination of three interlocked
switches enabling the use with 3 + 6 pole
or 4 + 8 pole. They insulate by providing
simultaneous safety isolation top and
bottom and by passing loads of low
voltage circuits mainly during maintenance
operations.

SIRCOVER and SIRCOVER BY-PASS can be used with a direct or external

handle.

A connection kit for copper bars allows the link between the 2 connection
terminals of one pole (fig 1 and 2) and the bridging of the upstream and
downstream link for ratings 2000, 2500 and 3200A (fig 3).

load with either power supply I or/and II. For
SIRCOVER BY-PASS, two sets of bridging
bars are needed as the switch is composed
of three basic switch frames.

Application

Relay output

The protective differential current relay type RMC-131D

forms part of a complete DEIF series of relays for
protection and control of generators, and is primarily
designed for marine applications. Also available are
short circuit relays (RMC-111D), combined short circuit
and overcurrent relays (RMC-122D) and double
overcurrent relays (RMC-132D).

The RMC-131D is provided with one relay coil with 2

maximum contacts. The relay can be configured either
to normally energised or normally de-energised. The
contacts may be set to open or to close on activation
(same function on both contacts).

The RMC-131D is type approved by major classification

societies and is applied for protection of e.g. generators
in 3-phase networks against leakage currents.

Measuring principle

Normally energised contact

Recommended for marine installation for warning and
alarm purposes.
In case of an auxiliary supply drop-out, the contact is
immediately activated.

The relay compares the differential current of each of

the 3 phases, providing an RMS measurement at
sinusoidal currents.

Normally de-energised contact

Recommended for marine installations for regulating
and control purposes.

In order to obtain a short response time on a fault

condition, the measurement is based on peak values.

An auxiliary supply failure will not result in an unwanted

activation of the contact.

The differential currents are obtained by connecting the

external current transformers for each winding in
parallel with inverse polarity.

Latch circuit
The contact can then be locked in its warning position,
even if the input currents return to normal (add L to
contact type in order specifications, if this is required).

The measurement is not stabilized, implying that the

relay contact is activated for disconnection of the
supervised unit when the differential current of the
individual phases exceeds its set point, irrespective of
the amperage of these.

DEIFA/S

RMC-131D

The 3 differential currents are measured by the relay

and the highest of these is selected. If this exceeds the
set point, the output is activated.
The set point value is set on the front of the relay by
means of a potentiometer. If exceeded, a fault signal is
generated, and the associated yellow LED is lit.

Timer function
When the set point has been exceeded, the associated
timer starts and will run as long as the fault condition
prevails.
The delay (3 ranges) does not depend on the exceeding
of the set point. If the fault disappears, the timer is
reset. When the timer expires, the contact is activated
and the associated red LED is lit.

The latch circuit is reset by disconnecting the auxiliary

supply.
Hysteresis
In order to avoid chatter on the relay contacts the
contact functions are provided with a hysteresis, i.e. a
difference of 2% of full scale between energising and
de-energising of the relay.
Power-up/power-down circuits
The RMC-131D is provided with a 200 ms power-up
circuit, ensuring the correct function of the relay on
connection of the auxiliary voltage.
Note: Normally energised contacts are not activated
(contact does not open/close) until 200 ms after
connection of the auxiliary voltage.
Likewise, the RMC-131D is provided with a 200 ms
power-down circuit, ensuring supervision and
maintenance of any set point exceedings for 200 ms
after disconnection of the auxiliary voltage.

1)

The technical data for the HLC sleeve anchors are reference loads for MZ 12 and KS 12. Due to the large variation of natural stone solid bricks,
on site anchor testing is recommended to validate technical data.
2)
For brick walls where anchor position in brick can not be determined, 100% anchor testing is recommended.
3)
The HLC anchor was installed and tested in center of solid bricks as shown. The HLC anchor was not tested in the mortar joint between solid
bricks or in hollow bricks, however a load reduction is expected.
