Introduction
Genetic technology is an area of research and development that represents the focus of the biotechnology industry today. This is also the most profitable area of the industry. Many of the industries in biotechnology are interconnected on various levels. Some of these connections are on the business level while others are on a regulatory level. In this activity, you will investigate a major industry or profession that utilizes genetic technology to some degree. As you do your research, pay attention to the impact each has on society. Also, be sure to determine what career fields are possible with an education related to genetic technology.

Procedure
In this activity, you and your partner will: Choose a focus topic from one of the perimeter circles shown below. Find as much information as you can in order to link your focus topic to the application of genetics technology. Include the following information: o The historical beginnings of this application, you will want to refer back to the Biotechnology Timeline you completed in Project 2.1.1 Biotechnology Timeline WebQuest. o Examples of the various professions involved and the education each of these professions requires. o Predictions of what the future might bring as it relates to genetic technology. o Definitions of important terms related to your focus topic.
