Primary school, in little

external recognition for
success in developing
partnerships with parents
and families.
The proud school
community is celebrating
after being awarded the
Family Partnership award
in February. This award
acknowledged the work of
the school in supporting

The external assessor
noted in the report that
Parklands goes the extra
mile to ensure parents and
carers have the opportunity

students and help them
prepare for their forthcoming
production of the gritty play

Pauline, who starred in the
play at the Everyman Theatre
in liverpool and the Edinburgh
Fringe Festival, gave valuable
advice on how to get ready for
their roles and provided an
insight into the creative process
behind the development of the
play and its characters.

writing aspects of the play.

PolICE are appealing for information
following a robbery in little sutton.
at about 8.23pm on Tuesday 29th
January, two men entered McColls on
station road armed with planks of wood.
They threatened the shop assistant and
demanded money from the till. They then
stole cash and a quantity of cigarettes
before fleeing the scene in a vehicle, headed
in the direction of the a41.
The first man was wearing a high visibility
jacket with the hood up, grey tracksuit
bottoms, white trainers and high visibility
gloves.
The second man was wearing a light blue
jacket with the hood up and a high visibility
vest with black tracksuit bottoms, black
shoes and black gloves.
The vehicle is described as being a dark
coloured four-door hatchback.
dC Mark Hughes of Chester CId said: no
one was injured in the incident but staf
were left shaken by their ordeal.
We appeal to anyone who was in the area
at the time who witnessed the incident or
saw anything suspicious to please get in
touch.

recruit young people aged

of age to take part in this

Cadets attend meetings

getting involved in refurbishment works to
transform an empty shop in Whitby road
into an art gallery.
Community Interest Company
access2Training&Employment has moved
into the long-term empty shop in Whitby
road to carry out the refurbishment works
and is working with the Vocational College
based in Wallasey to ensure young people
can benefit from the project.
Qualified teachers supervise the
young people whilst they learn in a
live classroom as they progress their
training towards employment or future
apprenticeships within the construction
industry
alongside a level 1 diploma in
Construction skills, they will also
achieve qualifications in Maths, English,
Employability skills and Health and safety
in the workplace.
The Council-funded project is the first
long-term vacant shop being brought back
into use in Whitby road. The art gallery
will open its doors to the public in May.
Executive Member for Prosperity,
Councillor Herbert Manley, said: The new
art gallery will strengthen Ellesmere Ports
position on the cultural map and I am
delighted to see so many people benefitting
from this project at such an early stage.
The scheme, which is part of a town centre
improvement programme, targets long-
term vacant shops in the old high street of
Whitby road and aims to bring them back
into use for the benefit of the community.
Works will also improve the appearance of
the street which is a key gateway to the
town for residents and visitors alike, help
increase footfall for the other shops, and
support the regeneration of the wider area.

MarCh is when bulbs such as the joyful
yellow daffodils make their appearance.
Smaller fowers are also worth growing
such as anemone blanda which you will
see in woodland.
The wild fowers are white but there are also
blue and pink varieties. Another lovely little
fowering bulb is Chionodoxa which has blue
or pink fowers and well worth growing in pots
or in the ground interspersed with
smaller daffodils. You will need
well drained soil in a sunny
position for best results.
Shrubs start fowering
with Forsythia and
the fowering currant,
Ribes sanguineum.
Another early
fowering shrub is
the fowering quince,
Chaenomoles. These
spiny shrubs do well
in mixed hedging or
trained against the wall
of a house. Flowers come
in many colours such as bright
red, pink or cream and will
brighten up any garden in
spring.
Jobs to do in the
garden include taking
the shears to winter
fowering heathers
just after fowering.
Give them a trim to
remove dead fowers
and encourage new
foliage. I also cut off the
dead heads from Hydrangeas
making sure that I only cut off
the dead fower head and leave the
new buds below as they will give you fowers
the coming year.
Start planting hardy vegetable seeds such as
broad beans, carrots, spinach and some salads
like rocket and hardy lettuce. If its wet and cold
just wait a couple of weeks for the soil to warm
up. Indoors or in a greenhouse it is time to sow
brassicas such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts and
also leeks in pots ready to transplant later.
I prepare my pots for summer
in March. I have a selection
of Hostas growing in pots
and each year I remove
the larger plants from
the pot and cut it up
into pieces with a
spade then replant
into new compost.
This keeps the
plants healthy and
leaves me with spare
plants to give to
friends or clients. Any
other perennial plants in
pots get a boost by either
being re-potted into a slightly
larger pot or I remove the
top few centimetres
of soil and replace
with John Innes No
3 compost. Give
them all a feed
with a slow release
fertilizer. This
goes for the rest
of the garden too. I
use pelleted chicken
manure and give all
plants in the garden a
feed in March.

This young all white male cat came to us as a stray. Can you offer him his ideal
home? He is very friendly and loves attention. An experienced cat owner is
needed as he sometimes gets overexcited and will give you a little nip but
usually it is only in play. Because of this we would not consider homing him with
a family with young children
Bex is about two years old he is neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped.

Stanley is three years old and very friendly. Unfortunately Stanley has the FIV
virus so must be kept as an indoor cat. He will make a very loyal and loving
companion. He follows his fosterer around everywhere and when she sits down
Stanley thinks it is especially so he can sit on her lap. Stanley is the perfect
companion, he is happiest on your knee, or on the newspaper you are trying to

neutered. Their owner is moving in with her partner
who is allergic to cat fur. They are indoor cats that have
never been outside. They can be homed as indoor cats,
or to a home with a safe private garden where they
can venture outside if they want, initially under supervision. Their owner would prefer
