NURSING CONSIDERATION This drug can be taken with or without food For the reason that of a probable intrusion of erdosteine metabolites with the methionine metabolism, erdosteine is no recommended in subjects experiencing hepatic cirrhosis and insufficiency of the cystathionine synthetase enzyme. Ectrin Suspension is also contraindicated for Phenylketonuria, because of existence of aspartame.

Erdosteine contains two sulfhydryl groups, which are freed after metabolic transformation in the liver. The liberated sulfhydryl groups break the disulphide bonds, which hold the glycoprotein fibres of mucus together. This makes the bronchial secretions more fluid and enhances elimination.

INDICATION Bronchial asthma & pulmonary disease w/ spastic bronchial component.

ACTION Adrenergic bronchodilators and phosphodiesterase inhibitors both work by increasing intracellular level of cyclic-3,5adenosine monophosphate (cAMP); adrenergics by increasing production and phosphodiesterase inhibitors by decreasing breakdown. Increased levels of cAMP produce bronchodilation. Corticosteroids act by decreasing airway inflammation. Anticholinergics (ipratropium) produce brondhodilation by decreasing intracellular levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP).

NURSING CONSIDERATION Assess lung sounds, pulse and blood pressure before administration and during peak of medication. Not amount, color, and character of sputum produced. Monitor pulmonary function tests before initiating therapy and periodically during therapy to determine effectiveness of medication. Observe for paradoxical bronchospasm (wheezing). If conditions occur, withhold medication and notify physician of other health care professional immediately.

INDICATION A supplement used to improve thinking, learning, and memory in elderly people.

ACTION For post Cardio Vascular Accident / Stroke. Treatment on elderly, for faster improvement on thinking ability

SIDE EFFECTS SE: Low blood pressure ( faintness, dizziness ), Slow or fast heartbeat, Headache, Nausea and Vomiting or diarrhea AE: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing, or rash.

NURSING CONSIDERATION Citicoline may be taken with or without food. Take it with or between meals. The supplement should not be taken in the late afternoon or at night because it can cause difficulty sleeping. Contact the physician immediately if allergic reaction such as hives, rash, or itching, swelling in your face or hands, mouth or throat, chest tightness or trouble breathing are experienced. Citicoline therapy should be started within 24 hours of a stroke. The physician will prescribe the correct dosage and the length of time it should be taken for a medical condition.

ACTION Ivabradine is a pure heart rate-lowering agent, acting by selectiveand specific inhibition of the cardiac pacemaker if current that controls the spontaneousdiastolic depolarisation in the sinus node and regulates heart rate

SIDE EFFECTS bradycardia, palpitations, supra-ventricular extra systoles GI: nausea, constipation
