All 250-C20 Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 30296. Converted 250-C20 Gearbox Assemblies (identified by the letters BA following the serial number)inspect and comply as defined herein if changes have not already been incorporated. All 250-BI? Gearbox Assemblies prior to S/N CAG 60012. REASON: DESCRIPTION: To prevent wearing away of the screen installed in the gearbox housing at the inlet of the oil delivery tube. The bore in the gearbox housing where the oil delivery tube and screen mount is reworked to permit installation of an O-ring around the OD of the screen. I.
Disassemble gearbox assembly as necessary to remove gearbox housing. A. Refer to Figure 1. At the location where the oiI delivery tube mounts, increase 0.281 k 0.010 thru DIA to 0.290-o. 300 DIA and increase depth of 0.374-o. 376 counterbore from 0.380 k 0.010 to 0.440-o. 450. Countersink remains 60. Flush oil passage after rework. Prior to installing screen, install a P/N 6843333-10 or MS9388-10 O-ring in counterbore as shown in Figure 1. Then install screen and oil delivery tube per normal procedures. Some gearbox housings have received a salvage repair at this location using a steel insert. Housings repaired in this manner must have the steel insert removed and the brass insert repair accomplished. The brass insert repair was released on June 1, 1972.
