Posturology is the study of the postural system, in all the positions of the body at a given time, and of the sensors being able to inform the central nervous system which consequently order effectors (muscles). Since our ancestors adopted the standing upright position, we are constantly fighting against gravity and this force has the potential to challenge our stability. The human organism, to preserve this stability, uses various sources of information: External sensors : who locate us in our environment (vision, hearing, touch, skin); Internal sensors : which locate the various parts of the body compared to the other elements; The higher centers receive the information of the external and internal sensors, interpret it and order the suitable behaviors.

If the nervous system is disturbed by false information, it will destabilize the body. This results in unbalanced movements and weakens the skeletal system. From there, appearance of chronic disorders which are treated in a symptomatic way can prove to be recalcitrant and recurring, even after several treatments. Among these disorders, let us mention: Cervical pain Back pain; Osteoarthritis;

Scoliosis; Pain at the level of the lower limbs, Numbness Migraines; Fibromyalgia; Etc... Normal Posture From profile view, the vertical axis of the body should show the following characteristics:

The head (occiput), thoracic spine, buttocks and heels must be aligned. Which in turn the lordosis ( lumbar arrow) will be no more than 3cm. The cervical arrow will be o more than 4cm. The 3rd and 4th lumbard vertebrae will be completely vertical will L3 slightly anterior to L4. CONCLUSION Only less than 10 % of the population seems to correspond to these criteria, these subjects almost never suffer from pains.

.......NORMAL POSTURE = ABSENCE OF CONSTRAINT, HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIP = NO PAIN.

On a frontal view, several anatomical landmarks should be aligned as well.

In this frontal view, we see rotations and tipping of the shoulders and the pelvis, the two buffer zones of the human skeleton. How well do you think the body can function in these cases?

However, the following figure illustrates several types of postures that can be symptomatic. It is important to note that these types of postures (excluding A) will either increase or decrease the lumbard and cervical arrows resulting in the compromising of intervertebral joint as well as compressions, distractions, rotations and torsions at the articular, capsular, ligament, muscular and tendon level, etc.

It unaddressed, it is then a matter of time until the appearance of pain, stiffness and decreased movement efficiency. The limitation of the articular movements related to muscular stiffness will encourage the deposit of osteoarthritis and vertebral dysfunctions.

If a "normal" posture is desirable, the disordered state of one or several sensors will cause a postural reaction that is not in conformity with the desired position. The principal receptors intervening in posturology are: The feet (skin, muscles, joints); The eye (oculo-motor muscles); The stomatognathic system (jaws, teeth and tongue); Scars. We can assist you in retrieving higher quality information by optimizing the function of the tendons, joints and skin so that it can, in turn, help you contract muscles properly.
