Tony Becker Media & Mass Communication 2/27/13 Brave New World Right away in the book and

it pretty much tells you what the book is about and how the world they live in is run. It says that it is a world of anonymous and dehumanized people dominated by a government made overwhelmingly powerful by the use of technology. It also tells us how the technology is hold up by the religious regard which is the World State and how the starting date of the calendar is when Henry Ford first introduce his first famous product which was the first car called Model T. It also talks about how the World States religious was the adherence to the technology that was not innocent at all and how it was one of the first pillars that were able to stabilize all of the totalitarian of the World State. The World States has a bad affect because it abuses the biological science that is conditioning the citizens that live there. They are using the condition of this like a game almost by controlling how they live. The programmed there are using is made for each of them to behave the same way as the next person would which is helping with social stability and it also is making a society dominated and the behavior of them. They also use the World State to make them control every ones behavior of each member that forces the social conformity and social criticism. They are using this kind of technology that helps them control them to dislike things like flowers and books which was done by a research man named Ivan Pavlov who was a Russian scientist.

There are a lot rules and things they have to follow by which makes them feel uncomfortable and one girl named Lenina and watching out for one of her friends Fanny and she makes sure that she tell Fanny that they do not like when the Hatchery workers do not complete to conform to complete their work to full expectation and up to their standards. They do not care if you are an adult or a child you never have a private life. I know it is maybe a controlling place or control what people do and stuff, but why would you not give them some privacy. Especially as an adult sometimes you need that privacy just to be a lone and relax but in this book they do not let you do that at all because they pretty much control your life and you never get any privacy. With this they also make them only get so much sleep because they need to be in and out of the office to do work and with the adults they are always being watch no matter to make they follow all the rules that the World State set and Leninas friend Fanny and the Director are two of the people who are always on watch to make sure each of the citizen are doing what they are suppose to be doing and behaving appropriately. One of main people is Bernard and he has one of the big role and that is as the protagonist which is a role another person who is big in this book to especially taking over his job and John is the one who will be taking this job over. Increasingly, he appears less like a political rebel and more like a social misfit who believes that changing society is the only way for him to fit in and that is the only way he thinks it will work also. One of the people I thought was interesting to read about was Helmholtz because he was very interesting. A couple things that differ him from most of the people in this book is how he is almost to perfect unlike every one else

and he also has had a lot of success in his life with women, his career and almost everything else in his life. With that said he also goes forward and talks about how the success he has had with his life he said that life is a lot more important then high-tech sports, easy sex, and repetitive slogans. During the book after they talk how John will be taking Bernards job over he has a conversation with Helmholtz over things about World State. While talking with him he starts fear that someone is listening in to the conversation he is having with him and the things that were said is how Helmholtz suggests a totalitarian aspect of the World State. They also talk about how people who are not working the World State citizens attend strictly regulated, scheduled social activities and never spend any time alone. I thought at the end of the book was pretty interesting to read because with them being exiled to the islands, and by accepting their exile, they have lost the fight against the World State. With that said then Helmholtz has been continuing to struggle with all of his writing. That is the implication that he decides to choose of a particularly harsh environment. They both will be physically transported to a place that they are able to cause just little harm to the World State. John is the only person who was left and will be the only who can be criticize and will be the only one who can debate with Mond. This was a very interesting book with all the things they snuggle with it and how they control people the way they do. I think this would not be a fun way to live because you are always being look at to make sure you are behaving and they do not give you any privacy. I could not do that because privacy is one thing that is nice to

have and in this book they watch you all the time and pretty much control you, not a way I would like to live.
