Eye Care For Patients Of All Ages Available At West County Vision
West County Vision Center recently started its third year of providing comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages. Practice owner Dr. L. Michelle McReynolds provides eye examinations from pediatrics to geriatrics, fittings for glasses and contacts, and management and treatment of eye injuries. She opened her practice in February 2011 to provide stability for herself and her patients. She can control the length of exams and staff quality and can offer the latest advancements in vision correction. Im trying to educate people that everyone needs an annual eye examination, even if you have perfect vision, said Dr. McReynolds. Your eyes can reveal a lot about your systemic health. Optometry has really shifted its focus from just vision to medical. I can treat eye injuries and manage eye diseases, such as glaucoma and complications from diabetes and high blood pressure. Dr. McReynolds recently received her American Board of Optometry designation of Diplomate. This advanced certification is a voluntary process that allows optometrists to demonstrate that they exceed entry-level requirements and are dedicated to keeping up with new developments in order to provide high-quality patient care, she explained. Dr. McReynolds finds satisfaction in giving her patients the most thorough examination possible. I love getting to know my patients personally. By seeing them each year, I get to know their eyes and how best to meet their visual needs, she said. Her patients appreciate the efforts. I appreciate the time Dr. McReynolds spends with each client to ensure they receive the best contacts or glasses fitting possible, said patient Stacy Wilder.
Affton Medicine Shoppe Offers Personal Service & Free Next-Day Delivery
Tom and Lynn Schmittgens, owners of The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Affton, have over 40 years of hands-on patient care experience between them. Both are pharmacists who are certified in diabetes, asthma and allergy care, and they perform professional immunizations against flu and shingles. We enjoy a small community practice and getting to know our patients, Tom Schmittgens said. We believe that a good pharmacist is an invaluable asset for good health, and that personal service and frequent contact are crucial to good health care. Were here to help. This combination of quality professional and personal service is what draws many people to the Affton Medicine Shoppe. The store has an experienced and caring staff, and real people answer the phones during business hours. Because this is a small pharmacy, patients can avoid long lines and get their prescriptions quickly. A drivethrough window is available as an added convenience. Our focus is quality patient care, not prescription volume, and we look forward to serving you, Schmittgens said. The store also offers free next-day delivery for the same co-pay. Dave Downhour delivers patient prescriptions, along with over-the-counter and personal care items to multiple Zip codes, including 63118, 63119, 63122, 63123, 63125, 63128 and 63129. Our free delivery helps seniors to live independently longer. And even if you can get out, its still nice to know we deliver in case of illness or extreme weather, said Lynn Schmittgens. The store accepts Express Scripts, Blue Cross, MO HealthNet, Caremark, Medicaid, Medicare, MO Rx and most insurance plans.

Nothing is worse than not being mobile, and we help people with foot and ankle problems get back on their feet and get back into life. Getting those patients on their feet again often involves new technologies such as laser therapy and total ankle replacement. We have grown with the times and adapted to the everchanging technological advances, said Next Steps Nathan Rain. Patients dont have to wait long for relief. We strive to get our patients, whether established or new, an appointment within a few days of calling us, not a few weeks, he said.

See Rosen Optometry For Primary Eye Care, Glasses, Contact Lenses
After serving patients in South County for more than 25 years, optometrists Dr. Karen Rosen and Dr. Steven Rosen opened their own practice in 2011 at Ronnies Plaza where they provide primary eye care and optical solutions to their patients. The Rosens are trained in treating common eye diseases such as pink eye, glaucoma, allergies and dry eye syndrome. With new treatments, innovations in contact lenses, and state-of-the-art equipment, we can now help our patients in ways we couldnt before, said Dr. Steve. They are proud of their selection of eyewear, from the smart-looking, value-priced collections to the trendy and designer lines. Todays consumers want their eyewear to meet all their lifestyle needs, and we offer many types of frames, lens styles and materials to individualize each pair of glasses, Dr. Karen said. Over the years, technology has become more advanced, with computerized equipment, digital and high-definition lenses. We want our patients to have eyewear that is high quality, gives them the best vision correction, and lets them express themselves. Both Rosens are members of the American Optometric Association and other professional organizations. We frequently hear from our patients how we helped them see better, and how warm and friendly our staff is. The greatest satisfaction we get is from having patients bring in their family and friends to see us. Rosen Optometry is open six days a week and has evening hours. The practice accepts most insurance plans, and new patients are welcome!
