In the last Volume we had informed you about the formation of a New Joint Venture Company between the Materials Handling Business Division of Voltas Limited and the KION Group. The New Company will be called VOLTAS MATERIAL HANDLING PVT. LTD. (VMHPL), with its Head Quarters at Thane, Maharashtra. This Volume of V-Lift will be the First from VMHPL and carry a new numbering namely VMH No. 01. VMHPL will manufacture and market its products in the well established VOLTAS Brand. It will also market products from KION Group in the Voltas MAX Brand and traded products from Principals like Terex, Baumann and Narrow Aisle. In this Volume we carry messages from Mr. Danielle Signorini and Mr. Milind Shahane, Directors of VMHPL. Mr. MRV Johnson, DGM Sales & Marketing in his message to the Customers has elucidated on functioning of VMHPL. Mr. Satish Ta m b e , D G M M a n u f a c t u r i n g a n d Engineering outlines the Capacities and Facilities at Thane and Pune Plants. The First Annual Sales Conference of VMHPL was held at Colombo, Srilanka from 15th to 18th of May 2011. The Business Plan for the Year 2011-12 was formulated with keen participation of the Directors, Senior Managers and the All-India Sales Team. In this volume we have introduced a new feature, 'Know your Voltas Material Handling Team' with Central Zone for the start. The Financial Year began will for VMHPL with the bagging of large orders for Forklifts, Warehousing Equipment and Reach Stackers in Q1. Read all this in this Volume of V-Lift. Voltas Limited's Materials Handling Business Division is now Voltas Material Handling Pvt. Ltd.
Voltas Material Handling Pvt. Ltd. (VMHPL), has come into operation on 1st May 2011 and has its offices at Unit III, Thane Plant of Voltas. The new company, a Joint Venture between KION Group of Germany and Voltas, will focus and cater to the ever growing Materials Handling Business in India. It has started its own manufacturing unit at Chandan Nagar, Pune where Standard Models of Diesel and Battery Operated Forklift are being built. The Thane Plant will continue to manufacture Standard and Heavy Duty Forklifts and Warehousing Equipment. The Capacity at Thane Plant is 1800 Units per annum and the Pune Plant is slated to produce 150 Nos. per month by Jan 2012. The combined ramped up capacity of both the Plants is 3600 units per annum by the next fiscal. The lead time for manufacture and supply of Standard Forklifts & Warehousing Equipment will be compressed and Customers will have their machines delivered in 2 to 3 weeks by the end of the current fiscal. In the event of the market demand picking up in the next 2 to 3 years for Forklifts and Warehousing Equipment, VMHPL has plans to set up a completely new State of the Art manufacturing plant at an appropriate location to cater to these requirements. VMHPL will market Voltas Brand Forklifts & Warehousing Equipment, Voltas Max Warehousing Equipment and Traded Products from Terex, Baumann and Narrow Aisle. It will concentrate on the High Volume Indian Market and select Export Markets.

local customer needs, and KION's expertise in material handling solutions. This is to strengthen our offering towards customers. First, a new factory is currently ramped up to better respond to increasing demand and to lower delivery lead times. Second, our development department closely interacts with KION engineers around the world to adapt state-of-the-art concepts to the requirements of the Indian market. Third, the product range for warehouse equipment is extended - the new Voltas Maxi range now offers order pickers, stackers, and reach trucks of European standard. As these products now belong to VMHPL, we will be able to ensure better availability and continuity of service than before. Fourth, we will invest in our sales & service network and further develop our dealers to offer an even better service coverage and responsiveness to customer demands. Overall, our aspiration is to become the first choice for material handling in India. KION as a new partner will help VMHPL to offer you as the customer, the solutions you need.

Message on Production Facility from Mr. Satish Tambe, DGM Manufacturing and Engineering
To meet the increasing demand for our Products, VMHPL is expanding its capacity at the existing Plant at Thane from 130 Units to 150 Units. In line with VMHPL's Multiple Plant Strategy, the facility at Pune is being developed to produce 150 Units by March 2012. This Plant will have a new Horizontal Machining Centre, State of Art Paint Booth and Dynamometer for Testing. The Ramps for testing Gradeablity is already in place. Human Resource for meeting the operations at the new Plant has been achieved by relocation of Key Managers and induction of New Recruits. The Lean Concept will be in place at Pune Plant for optimization of the throughput. The Standard Models of Diesel and Battery Forklifts up to 3000Kgs Capacity are being assembled at Pune for the past 3 Months. Machining of Transmission Housings and Assembly of Transmission with Engine. Power Train assembly with Engine have begun. Material requirements are being met from Vendor's of Thane Plant. A New Vendor Base close to the new Plant is also being developed.

The Directors, Senior Mangers and the Sales Team of VMHPL held their 1st Sales Conference at the Taj Samudra, Colombo Srilanka from 15th to 18th May 2011. The Theme of the Conference was 'Join the Forces to Lead'. The objective of this Conference was to devise focused action plans in the various areas of operations, sharpen the strategies to be adopted to enhance the results during 2011-12, crystallize the outlook for the next four years for capturing the No.1 Position and Lead the MHE Market in India.
