Message of the Day : Is fasting invalidated if theawrah is uncovered and others see it?

care@easyibaadat.info

Is fasting invalidated if the 'awrah is uncovered and others see it? Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ A question was asked in the Islam Q & A website that if a person uncovers his awrah in front of another person or if anyone sees the fasting person naked then will it invalidate the fast? The answer given was: Showing the 'awrah in front of others for whom it is not permissible to see it is haraam. It is not permissible for anyone to do that, whether in Ramadaan or at any other time. It is haraam to uncover it and it is haraam to look at it. It was narrated from Bahz ibn Hakeem from his father that his grandfather [Mu'aawiyah ibn Haydah al-Qushayri] (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I said: O Messenger of Allaah, with regard to our 'awrah, what may we uncover of it and what must we conceal? He said: "Cover your 'awrah except from your wife and those whom your right hand possesses (i.e., concubines)." I said, O Messenger of Allaah, what if a man is with another man? He said, "If you can make sure that no one sees it, then do not let anyone see it." I said, O Messenger of Allaah, what if one of us is alone? He said, "Allaah is more deserving that you should feel shy before Him than people." Narrated and classed as hasan by al-Tirmidhi (2769); narrated by Ibn Maajah (1920); classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi. It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "No man should look at the 'awrah of another man, and no woman should look at the 'awrah of another woman." Narrated by Muslim, 338. Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: This shows that it is haraam for a man to look at the 'awrah of another man and for a woman to look at the 'awrah of another woman, and there is no difference of opinion concerning that. End quote. Sharh Muslim, 4/30 But if the issue is showing the 'awrah unintentionally,

then there is no sin on you, and the other person has to avert his gaze and not look at it. Fasting is not invalidated in either case whether it is done deliberately or by mistake. (source: islam-qa.com/en) With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _Life is a Journey... from Allah and to Allah_

Message of the Day : "..it comes back to you.." (Short story)

care@easyibaadat.info

"..it comes back to you.." (Short story) Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Have you ever felt that you have been doing some good job in your life or in your office or have helped someone in life but never received any appreciation or gratitude? Due to the absence of gratitude or thanklessness of people, have you ever got demotivated or stopped doing the good work all together? Well, you never stop doing anything good you have been doing in the absence of gratitude or receiving no appreciation from people. Because "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" To illustrate this fact, let us read a short story: A woman baked chapatti (roti) for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chapatti on the window sill, for whosoever would take it away. Every day, a hunchback came and took away the chapatti. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do,... comes back to you!" This went on, day after day. Every day, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself... "Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?" One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chapatti she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "What is this I am doing?" she said. Immediately, she threw the chapatti into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chapatti and muttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mind of the woman. Every day, as the woman placed the chapatti on the window sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek his fortune.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 6

For many months, she had no news of him.. She prayed for his safe return. That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she was surprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved and weak. As he saw his mother, he said, "Mom, it's a miracle I'm here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. I would have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a whole chapatti. As he gave it to me, he said, "This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!" " As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale. She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chapatti that she had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life! It was then that she realized the significance of the words: "The evil you do remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" Moral of the story: Do good and Don't ever stop doing good, even if it is not appreciated at that time. Be patient and continue working hard and doing good, because even if people do not see what you are doing for them or cannot appreciate you - just Remember only one thing - Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) is watching you and it is He who will do the Justice in the end and your good deeds one day will be noticed by all! Please share and give a smile today to those who are depressed for lack of appreciation. With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _Life is a Journey... from Allah and to Allah_

Message of the Day: Du'as to be recited at Suhoor and Iftaar

care@easyibaadat.info

Du'as to be recited at Suhoor and Iftaar Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ What Duas should be recited at the time of Suhoor and at the Time of Iftaar? With regard to suhoor, there is no specific du'aa' to be said at this time. What is prescribed is to say Bismillah at the beginning and to praise Him when one stops eating, as should be done at every meal. But the one who delays his suhoor until the last third of the night also catches up with the time of the divine descent, and this is a time when du'aa's are answered. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah ( ) said: "Our Lord, may He be blessed and exalted, comes down to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night is left, and He says: 'Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me, that I may give him? Who will ask Me for forgiveness, that I may forgive him?'" [Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1094) and Muslim (758)] So he should say du'aa' at this time because it is a time when du'aa' is answered, not because of suhoor. With regard to the intention, the site thereof is the heart, and it is not prescribed to utter it out loud. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: "Whoever thinks in his heart that he will fast tomorrow has formed the intention." With regards to iftaar, yes, there are du'aa's that are narrated in the Sunnah which the fasting person may say at the time of breaking the fast. He may say "Dhahaba al-zama'u wa abtalat al-'urooq wa thabat al-ajru in sha Allaah (Thirst has gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is assured, if Allaah wills)." He may also say whatever du'aa' he wants, not because that is mentioned specifically in the Sunnah, but because it is the end of an act of worship, and it is prescribed for the Muslim to say du'aa' in that case. Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-'Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: Is there any

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 9

du'aa' narrated from the Prophet ( ) which is to be said at the time of breaking the fast? When should it be said? Should the fasting person repeat the adhaan after the muezzin or continue breaking his fast? He replied: The time of breaking the fast is a time when du'aa's are answered, because it is the end of an act of worship, and because a person is usually at his weakest when breaking his fast. The greater a person's sense of helplessness and weakness is, the closer he is to humility before Allaah. The du'aa' that is narrated is: "Allaahumma laka sumtu wa 'ala rizqika aftartu (O Allaah, for You have I fasted and by Your provision I have broken my fast)." And the Prophet ( ) said: "Dhahaba al-zama' wa abtalat al-'urooq wa thabat al-ajr in sha Allaah (Thirst has gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is assured, if Allaah wills)." Although there may be some weakness in these two hadeeths, some scholars classed them as hasan. Whatever the case, if you says these du'aa's or some others when breaking the fast, this is a time when du'aa's are answered. [End quote. Majmoo' Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (19/question no. 341)] 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allaah ( ) used to say when breaking his fast: "Dhahaba al-zama' wa abtalat al-'urooq wa thabata al-ajr in sha Allaah (Thirst is gone, the veins are moistened and the reward is certain if Allaah wills)." [Narrated by Abu Dawood, 2357; al-Daaraqutni, 25. Ibn Hajar said in al-Talkhees al-Habeer (2/202): al-Daaraqutni said, its isnaad is saheeh] The du'aa' "Allaahumma laka sumtu wa 'ala rizqika aftartu (O Allaah, for You have I fasted and by Your provision I have broken my fast)" was narrated by Abu Dawood, 2358. It is a mursal hadeeth so it is da'eef (weak) . Al-Albaani classed it as da'eef in Abu Dawood (510). ~*~ Time of du'aa' when breaking fast ~*~ This question was put to Shaykh Muhammad ibn 'Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah), who said: "Du'aa' should be made before iftaar (breaking the fast), at Maghrib, because this combines weakness and humility, and because he is still fasting. All of these are means of having one's du'aa' answered. After breaking the fast, one is relaxed and happy, and may become negligent. But there is a hadeeth from the Prophet ( ) which, if it is saheeh, shows that the du'aa' may be made after breaking the fast. It said: 'Thirst has gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is assured, if Allaah wills." (Narrated by Abu Dawood; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood, 2066). This can only mean after breaking the fast. Similarly

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 10

it was narrated that some of the Sahaabah said: " O Allaah, for You I have fasted and with Your provision I have broken my fast." So you may pray to Allaah and say whatever du'aa' you think is suitable. [al-Liqaa' al-Shahri, 8] Saying du'aa' after doing acts of worship is deeply rooted in sharee'ah, such as making du'aa' after praying and after completing the rituals of Hajj. Fasting is not excluded from that In Shaa Allaah. Allaah mentioned the verse of du'aa' and encouraged du'aa' among the verses that speak of fasting, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): "And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad ) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright" [al-Baqarah 2:186] Pointing out the importance of making du'aa' during this month, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (rahimahullaah) said: Allaah tells us that He is close to His slaves and responds to the supplication (du'aa') of the one who calls upon Him. Here He is telling us of His Lordship (ruboobiyyah) over them and that He gives them what they ask for and He responds to their du'aa'. For if they call upon Him that means they believe that He is their Lord Then He enjoins two things upon them, as He says (interpretation of the meaning): "So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright" [al-Baqarah 2:186] The first is that they should obey His commands to worship Him and seek His help. The second is that they should believe in His Lordship (ruboobiyyah) and Divinity (uloohiyyah), and that He is their Lord and their God. Hence it is said that response to a person's du'aa' is indicative of the soundness of his belief and the perfection of his obedience, because the verse of du'aa' ends with the words (interpretation of the meaning): "So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright" [al-Baqarah 2:186] [Majmoo' al-Fataawa, 14/33]

Message of the Day: Common Mistakes in Ramadaan

care@easyibaadat.info

Common Mistakes in Ramadaan Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Today we will discuss some common mistakes people make in this Holy Month. Hope this information will help us to recognise our mistakes, correct them and be a better Muslim this Ramadaan, Aameen! Some common mistakes people make in the month of Ramadaan are: * Too much stress on food and drink For some people, the entire month of Ramadan revolves around food. They spend the ENTIRE day planning, cooking, shopping and thinking about only food, INSTEAD OF CONCENTRATING ON SALAH, QUR'AN AND OTHER ACTS OF WORSHIP. All they can think of is FOOD. So much so that they turn the month of 'fasting' into the month of 'feasting'. Come Iftaar time, their table is a sight to see, with the multitudes and varieties of food, sweets and drinks. They are missing the very purpose of fasting, and thus, increase in their greed and desires instead of learning to control them. It is also a kind of waste & extravagance. 'and eat and drink but waste not by extravagance, certainly He (Allah) likes not Al-Musrifoon (those who waste by extravagance)' [al-A'raaf :31] * Spending all day cooking Some of the sisters (either by their own choice or forced by their husbands) are cooking ALL day and ALL night, so that by the end of the day, they are too tired to even pray Ishaa, let alone pray Taraweeh, Tahajjud or read Qur'aan, etc. * Eating too much Some people stuff themselves at Suhoor until they are ready to burst, because they think this is the way to not feel hungry during the day and some people eat at Iftaar, like there is no tomorrow, trying to 'make up for the food missed.' However, this is completely against the Sunnah. Moderation is the key to everything. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'The son

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 14

of Adam does not fill any vessel worse than his stomach; for the son of Adam a few mouthfuls are sufficient to keep his back straight. If you must fill it, then one-third for food, one-third for drink and one-third for air.' (Tirmidhi, Ibn Maajah. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani). Too much food distracts a person from many deeds of obedience and worship, makes him lazy and also makes the heart heedless. * Sleeping all day Some people spend their entire day (or a major part of it) 'sleeping away their fast'. Is this what is really required of us during this noble month? These people also are missing the purpose of fasting and are slaves to their desires of comfort and ease. They cannot 'bear' to be awake and face a little hunger or exert a little self-control. For a fasting person to spend most of the day asleep is nothing but, negligence on his part. * Wasting time Other people waste away their day playing video games, or worse still, watching TV, movies or even listening to music. Please avoid these. * Fasting but not giving up evil Some of us fast but do not give up lying, cursing, fighting, backbiting, etc. and some of us fast but do not give up cheating, stealing, dealing in haraam, buying lotto tickets, selling alcohol, fornication, etc. and we think we are sooooo good. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it, and ignorance, Allaah has no need of him giving up his food and drink.' (Bukhaari) * Skipping Suhoor The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'Eat suhoor for in suhoor there is blessing.'(Bukhaari, Muslim). And he (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'The thing that differentiates between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is eating suhoor.' (Muslim) Stopping Suhoor at 'Imsaak' Some people stop eating Suhoor 10-15 minutes earlier than the time of Fajr to observe 'Imsaak'. Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen said: This is a kind of bid'ah (innovation) which has no basis in the Sunnah. Rather the Sunnah is to do the opposite. Allaah allows us to eat until dawn: 'and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night)'

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 15

[al-Baqarah 2:187] And the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: '....eat and drink until you hear the adhaan of Ibn Umm Maktoom, for he does not give the adhaan until dawn comes.' This 'imsaak' which some of the people do is an addition to that which Allaah has enjoined, so it is false. It is a kind of extremism in religion. * Not fasting if they missed Suhoor - Very Important Some people are too scared to fast if they miss Suhoor. However, this is a kind of cowardice and love of ease. What is the big deal if you missed a few morsels of food? It's not like you will die. Remember, obedience to Allaah overcomes everything. * Saying the intention to fast 'out loud' or saying a specific dua to start fasting: The intention is an action of the heart. The Muslim should resolve in his heart that he is going to fast tomorrow. It is not prescribed for him by the Shari'ah to say out loud, 'I intend to fast','I will fast tomorrow' or other phrases that have been innovated by some people. All he needs to do is to resolve in his heart that he is going to fast tomorrow. * Delaying breaking fast Some people wait until the adhaan finishes or even several minutes after that, just to be 'on the safe side'. However, the Sunnah is to hasten to break the fast, which means breaking fast right after the sun has set. Aa'ishah said: This is what the Messenger of Allaah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) used to do. (Muslim) The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'The people will continue to do well so long as they hasten to break the fast.' (Bukhaari, Muslim) Determine to the best of your ability, the accuracy of your clock, calendar, etc. and then have tawakkul on Allaah and break your fast exactly on time. * Missing the golden chance of having your Dua accepted THE PRAYER OF THE FASTING PERSON IS GUARANTEED TO BE ACCEPTED AT THE TIME OF BREAKING FAST. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'Three prayers are not rejected: the prayer of a father, the prayer of a fasting person, and the prayer of a traveler.' (al-Bayhaqi, saheeh by al-Albaani). Instead of sitting down and making Dua at this precious time, some people forego

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 16

this beautiful chance, and are too busy talking, setting the food, filling their plates and glasses, etc. Food is more important to them than the chance to have their sins forgiven or the fulfillment of their Duas * Fasting but not praying This is a very common mistake which we tend to make. We love to do fasting for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala but when the time for prayer comes, we find some reason or the other to skip prayers, may be because we think that fasting is a "superior" good deed than prayers. So always make it a point to offer your prayers on time because what differentiates a non believer from a believer is abandonment of prayer * Not fasting because of exams or work Exams or work is NOT one of the excuses allowed by the Shari'ah to not fast. You can do your studying and revision at night if it is too hard to do that during the day. Also remember that pleasing and obeying Allaah is much more important than 'good grades'. * Mixing fasting and dieting DO NOT make the mistake of fasting with the intention to diet. That is one of the biggest mistakes some of us make (esp. sisters). Fasting is an act of worship and can only be for the sake of Allah alone. * Praying ONLY on the night of the 27th Some people pray ONLY on the 27th to seek Lailat ul-Qadr, neglecting all other odd nights, although the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'Seek Lailat ul-Qadr among the odd numbered nights of the last ten nights of Ramadaan.' (Bukhaari, Muslim). May Allah Almighty accept our fasting and all our prayers and make us the dwellers of Paradise (Aameen). Please include me and entire Ummah in your prayers. Anas (Radhi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam) say: "Allah the Almighty said: O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 17

son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it." [at-Tirmidhi, Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal] Wish you a happy, healthy and blessed Ramaadan, please share this email and educate brothers and sisters and help them get good deeds in this month of Ramadaan. Message of the Day: Fasting Soothes The Stomach

care@easyibaadat.info

Fasting Soothes The Stomach Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Fasting has numerous scientific benefits. In the below article by Dr Muhammad Karim Islamabadi, talks on how fasting in the month of Ramadan, gives benefit to the stomach. He mentions: Ramadan fasting has a healing effect on peptic ulcers as it curbs smoking which is recognised as a precipitating factor for the peptic ulcer. The whole gastro-intestinal system takes good rest for the first time in the whole year. I feel pity for the stomach. I really feel pity for the stomach, intestines and infact the whole gastro-intestinal system. And this is so because the whole year, we never let this system take rest. Apart from the three main meals, every few minutes, we pour something in our stomach, be it snacks, drinks, fruits or other eatables. None of us ever thinks that the food which we had already sent in before is being digested by the stomach and right when it has reached halfway, we dump some more into it only to disrupt the digestive work previously completed. THIS OF COURSE MAKES THE FOOD STAY A LONGER TIME IN THE STOMACH WHICH MAY RESULT IN DYSPEPSIA, GASTRITIS, IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME ETC. In contrast, Ramadan is the only period in which our gastro-intestinal system takes good rest as the Muslims observe fasting for the whole month. Digestion is not just the name of churning movements of the stomach and the absorption by the intestines, but it is a huge integrated system involving the nervous system (eg. vagus nerve) as well as hormone secreting glands. So the whole gastro-intestinal system takes good rest for the first time in the whole year. As digestion begins in the mouth where the salivary glands secrete excessive saliva which carries hormones to act upon the food, the burden on the salivary glands and teeth is reduced in the month of Ramadan. The oesophagus takes rest during fasting as there is no food to require its propelling movements which push the food to the stomach. Similarly,

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 20

the stomach and the intestines also take good rest as after completing the digestion and absorption of food consumed at Sehri time, they have nothing to do till Iftar time. Even glands like pancreas and gall bladder which secrete hormones also reduce their secretions as there is no food to demand their hormones. Hence, there is substantial reduction in the gastrointestinal hormones like gastric juice, gastrain, gastric inhibitory peptide (GIP), motilin, vascoactive intestinal peptide (VIP),neurotension, enteroglucagon, neuropeptide Y, gallium etc. Lastly, the colon and the liver are also at ease during fasting. In short, RAMADAN LIFTS THE HEAVY BURDEN AND STRAIN WHICH WE HAVE PUT ON OUR GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM AND GIVES IT WHAT CAN SAID TO BE A REFRESHING ANNUAL VACATION OF 30 DAYS. Now coming to the diagnostic possibilities of Ramadan fasting, a good number of patients who consult physicians with abdominal pain, suffer from peptic ulcers. The peptic ulcer can be gastric or the duodenal type. The occurence of abdominal pain in both gastric and duodenal ulcers is different in relation to the food intake. Duodenal ulcer pain, though variable usually occurs when the stomach is empty and the gastric ulcer creates pain after the food intake. In normal days, the differentiation of the two entities is difficult to make as people eat frequently, but in Ramadan, an individual undergoes two stages. One during the fasting when his stomach is empty and the other after evening meal when the stomach is full. If the patient complains of abdominal pain while fasting, it will point to the possibility of duodenal ulcer and if the pain occurs after Iftar, then gastric ulcer will be the suspected diagnosis. The peptic ulcer pain is variable and it may not occur in some patients. Similarly, in most of the duodenal ulcer cases, as soon as mild pain starts, the patient eats something due to which the pain disappears and the disease remains undiagnosed. This undiagnosed ulcer may later surface with perforation of the ulcer and haematemesis (vomiting of blood) which has a high mortality. In Ramadan, while fasting, the duodenal ulcer pain is more likely to surface and as there is no provision to relieve the pain with food, the patient may be forced to consult a physician who with the help of endoscopy can easily clinch the diagnosis. While examining the abdomen of a patient who is already fasting, a physician can easily palpate the tenderness as well as feel the oedema around the peptic ulcer region. Ramadan fasting has a healing effect on peptic ulcers as it curbs smoking which is recognised as a precipitating factor for the

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 21

peptic ulcer. It also has beneficial effects on inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, dyspepsia and gastritis. Last, but not the least, imagine a person who has fasted for more or less 14-15 hours and is now ready to break his fast. His taste buds have taken good rest, so at Iftar, the food is going to taste more pleasant and enjoyable than ever before. This is yet another bounty of Ramadan. It is narrated from Abu Huraira (radiyAllaahu anhu) that Allah's Messenger Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa salam) says: "There are two pleasures for the fasting person, one at the time of breaking his fast and the other at the time when he will meet his Lord, then he will be pleased because of his fasting. [Bukhari Book 31 Hadith #128] *** Masha Allah, This also makes us reflect on this verse of the Holy Qur'an: "So which of the favours of your Lord, will you deny?" Truly, in the Holy Qur'an Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says: And if you would count the Favours of Allaah, never could you be able to count them. Truly, Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Message of the Day: Spending time watching movies and soap operasand playing games in Ramadaan

care@easyibaadat.info

Spending time watching movies and soap operas and playing games in Ramadaan Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Some people who are fasting spend most of the day in Ramadaan watching movies and soap operas on video and TV, and playing cards. What is the Islamic view on that?. Those who are fasting and other Muslims should fear Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala with regard to what they do and what they refrain from doing at all times, and they should beware of that which Allaah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has forbidden of watching indecent movies which show things which Allaah has forbidden, such as pictures of naked and semi-naked people and evil words; the same applies to things that appear on TV which go against the laws of Allaah, such as images, songs, musical instruments and misleading advertisements. Every Muslim, whether he is fasting or not, should be beware of playing with cards, because of what that involves of witnessing evil and doing evil, and because it also leads to hard-heartedness, sickness in the heart and lack of respect for Allaah's laws and finding what Allaah has made obligatory to be burdensome, such as praying in congregation and other obligatory duties, and falling into many haraam things. Allaah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning): "And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it (the path of Allaah, or the Verses of the Qur'aan) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hellfire). And when Our Verses (of the Qur'aan) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not -- as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment" [Luqmaan 31:6-7] And Allaah says in Soorat al-Furqaan, describing the slaves of the Most Merciful (interpretation of the meaning): "And those who do not bear witness to falsehood, and

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 24

if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity" [al-Furqaan 25:72]. Falsehood includes all kinds of evil, and what is meant by "[they] do not bear witness" is that they are not present. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "There will be among my ummah people who regard adultery, silk, alcohol and music as permissible." Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh in a mu'allaq, majzoom report. What is meant by music is singing and musical instruments. Allaah has forbidden to the Muslims the means that cause them to fall into evil. Undoubtedly watching evil films and the evils that are shown on television are means that cause one to fall into evil or to become careless and not denounce it. And Allaah is the One whose help we seek. End quote. Majmoo' Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (15/315). These sins detract from the reward of fasting, and may erase it altogether. (Source: Islam Q&A) So dear brothers and sisters refrain from watching movies or listening to songs while fasting in Ramadan, because this will not give you any benefit, further it might remove your rewards which you can easily earn during your fast. Many people give an excuse that they are getting bored while fasting so they listen to songs or watch TV. But instead of doing that, a Muslim can spend his/her time doing many constuctive things such as Doing Dhikr of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, or performing Nafl Namaaz, or reading holy books such as the Holy Qur'an and the stories of the Prophets. There are many other tasks which a Muslim can do which can give him/her many rewards: Such as cleaning the Masjid, preparing food /Iftaar (do be done in moderation), writing some articles on Islam and doing Dawaah, taking care of orphans, old people including old and aged parents and grand parents. You can listen to audio lectures on Islam of famous personalities or play the CD of the Holy Qur'an. And many more! Hence, watching TV or listening to Music is not the solution of getting bored in Ramadaan. With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: A message to the youth

care@easyibaadat.info

A message to the youth Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Today's message is specially for all the youths: Let us read 2 scanarios: About two different Muslim youths. Scenario 1 : Imran is a 23 year old young man. He has just finished University , has started a job and wants to enjoy life. He has no balance of deen and duniya, is simply after the chase of the duniya. He spends all his time and money in restaurants, cinemas, shopping, clubbing, 'checking' out girls, having relationships with girls, no involvement in Dawaah, cant really be bothered with Ramadhan, doesnt really bother about giving to charity and is just enjoying this temporary life with no time for Salah, reading Quraan and keeping a fine balance of deen and duniya. He is very ignorant towards the deen and cant be bothered with it thinking people are just too extreme. Unfortunately he also has drinks alchohol. He is too busy running after the worldly pleasures and sees this as his only goal to have pleasure in the worldly affairs. He has no interest in Islam and when Ramadhan comes, he takes no interest in this pillar of Islam and even struggles to fast at all. He needs to save up for his dream 'Audi' to impress his mates and the girls. Scenario 2: Kashif is a 23 year old young man. He has just finished University. He has started a job and is greatful to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. He makes sure he offers his Salah, he reads his Quraan and keeps well away from clubbing, nightclubs where alcohol is served. He does enjoy life too by going out with his mates for a meal at a restaurant, chilling out with his mates and having a laugh. He enjoys sports and will soon be going for Hajj insha'Allah, he has made pure intention. He finds time for his Jummah Salah, his 5 prayers, he spends some spare time in Charity work and he attends Islamic lectures and Dawaah classes to strengthen his Imaan. Kashif does not have any 'girlfriends' and does not wish to engage in any form of haraam before marriage.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 28

He knows from his young friends who have died, that death can strike at any age. He also tries his very best to offer the evening prayers in the Musjid whenever possibly he can as he knows there is a famous hadith about the person who spends their youth in the worship of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will be shaded by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala insha'Allah on the day of Judgement... SubhnaAllah, having Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's shade !! In the above examples , you can see 2 very clear illustratons. Imran is heavily engrossed in the full chase of the duniya, thinks he is young ,energetic, youthful and spends all his time and efforts in the 'chase' of the duniya. He has no real balance and is quite happy to lead this worldy life. Whereas Kashif, has a perfect balance where he is enjoying socialising but he is also trying to keep a good balance of deen and duniya. Noting, Kashif is well kept away from haram influences and fears Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala . He is fearful of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and fully recognises he will return to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala to account for his life and purpose. However, this is the real thinking point. When Imran gets to 40 he may be become much more maturer and start to question life. He may start to realise that death is not far away and then start to get closer to the deen. His life will then flash by him and he will realise that its too late, his youth has gone and he will reflect on how he spent his youth, all the opportunties he missed to do dawaah, all the Salah he missed and how his youth has simply vanished...gone into thin air. He will reflect and feel upset realising that his youth has gone and there is no turning back. How he wished he had a good balance, had not went clubbing and had spent time in the Musjid. His youth has gone..** Whereas Kashif, insha'Allah, he will feel a bit more of ease when he is 40. His life too will flash by him and he will pray that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala accepts all his Ibaadah, extra worship during his youth and pray that all his 17 Ramadhans that went by, his sins were forgiven and that his fasts and Quraan reading will intercede for him on Qiyaamah. He will feel a bit more comfortable compared to Imran, because he kept an amazing balance of deen and duniya during his youth, refraining from haraam. His conscious will be much more clear and he will not feel as much guilt and pain as Imran will be feeling at the age of 40. Kashif was sensible and took much better advantage of his youth realising that his youth and energy will come to an end one day and he should take full advantage of his youth in the best possible way.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 29

Look, its not to say thaat Imran still hasnt got a chance. If he is now 40 and wants to better himself, then insha'Allah , Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will listen to his repentence and there may be just one amazing quality in Imran that the Almighy accepts. However, the 2 scenarios are for the youth of today to make understand, that make sure your youth is used in the best possible way of striking a good balance of deen and duniya, making sure you keep away from haraam The choice is yours.. What will your conscious do to you when you are 40? Will you feel positive and happy just like Kashif, or will you live in regret just like Imran? The choice is yours.. And Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala knows best. With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: Forgiveness: The Gift in the Middle of Ramadan

care@easyibaadat.info

Forgiveness: The Gift in the Middle of Ramadan Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Forgiveness has been a recurring theme throughout the realm of creation. From the moment Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala created the first man - Adam (peace be upon him) - Iblis (Satan) was denied forgiveness after defying Allah's command to prostrate before the first man of creation. Iblis was left to roam around Paradise, but wasn't forgiven and it's a well known narration that Iblis would never be forgiven despite his duration on earth, and will eventually become a dweller of Hellfire. The story of creation of course continues with the creation of Hawa (Eve). Adam and his wife, Eve, were lured into consuming forbidden fruit, both made the first error as far as Allah was concerned, as they defied Allah's one single commandment to stay away from the forbidden fruit. Both husband and wife asked Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for forgiveness for transgressing His instruction. Both of them were forgiven after repenting, but were also assigned the position of vicegerents on Earth. From then on, the offspring of Adam and Eve have always committed errors, and forgiveness has always been on the platter as far as the relationship between man and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is concerned. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala promises: {And seek forgiveness of Allah; surely Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.} (Al-Muzzammil 73: 20) The fact that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala talks about forgiveness shows how deficient human beings really are. Humans do commit error and do engage in wrong doings, but there is an important facet to this flaw in our own beings, that we may be completed by turning back to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala AND ASKING FOR HIS FORGIVENESS. There is also no measure as to how much error one can commit, as Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala being AL-GHAFOOR (THE ALL-FORGIVING) promises that He will forgive those who ask forgiveness. Part of being human includes committing wrongdoings and incurring sin. However, just because we were

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 32

created that way - with the grand possibility to follow evil - it doesn't justify making the active choices to engage in bad deeds without any conscientious effort to repent. The whole silver lining as a circumference of a bad deed is the fact there is an opportunity to make that change and beg for forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala . {And whoever does evil, or wrongs his own soul, but afterwards seeks Allah's forgiveness, will find Allah is Forgiving, Compassionate.} (An-Nisa' 4: 110) In particular, the middle of Ramadan encompasses the 10 days of Forgiveness, and this is when Muslims are commanded to ask for forgiveness the most. The important thing to note about forgiveness is its root comes from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala . With Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala being Al-Ghafoor (the All-Forgiving), Muslims pay heed to Allah's power to forgive. Without Allah's forgiveness, admission to Paradise would be impossible. Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said that whosoever stands in worship on this night with sincere faith and with genuine hopes of gaining reward his previous sins will be forgiven. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) In fact, one who fasts sincerely and successfully from one Ramadan to another will have his sins forgiven. So obviously, the month of Ramadan is one of full forgiveness, and to solidify this, Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "The smell from the mouth of a fasting person is sweeter in the sight of Allah than the fragrant smell of musk. For believers who are engaging in the fast, the fish in the sea seek forgiveness until they break their fast. Paradise is decorated everyday for the person who fasts; the evil minded Satan is chained; and on the last night of Ramadan, all their sins are forgiven." (Ahmad) BUT WHAT IS FORGIVENESS? Forgiveness is letting go of the need for revenge, any sense of bitterness or resentment and to let go of the past. While Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala does this with Perfection, it is in fact harder for us to forgive ourselves first as well as ask for forgiveness. But in order for us to ask for Allah's forgiveness, we do need to start by forgiving ourselves. Ask yourself, what have I done wrong? Do I really want to change? What are the bad habits or the mistakes that I made routinely? Have I given much thought into changing them? Am I all right in seeing those changes? If I want to change and be forgiven, I need to do it for Allah's sake.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 33

Most of the things that we do that require forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala are actually bad for us in the first place. So while we are committing an error in the sight of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala , we are also committing harm upon ourselves. Do we tell ourselves why it is wrong? How brutally honest are we in our wrong doings? Have we considered checking if what we are doing is correct? Sometimes it is easy to forget what it says in the Quran and Sunnah when we are so busy trying to be ourselves. Perhaps it's time to realize our priorities with respect to our religion. Are we really committing to good deeds or are we doing them for the wrong intentions? Whatever it is, learn to forgive yourself first. Once you have done this, you will realize how important asking for forgiveness really is. And this is when you can really open up your heart and ask for forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. This will help you truly feel liberated. {Whether you reveal a good act or keep it hidden, or pardon an evil act, Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Powerful.} (An-Nisa' 4: 149) ANOTHER DIMENSION OF FORGIVENESS IS TO FORGIVE OTHERS AND TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS TOO. RAMADAN IS THE PERFECT TIME TO DO THAT AS DURING THE DAYS OF FORGIVENESS, SAYING SORRY BECOMES MORE LIGHT WEIGHT THAN USUAL. Ask yourself, what have I done wrong? Do I really want to change? What are the bad habits or the mistakes that I made routinely? Have I given much thought into changing them? Am I all right in seeing those changes? If I want to change and be forgiven, I need to do it for Allahsake. By Maria Zainorg Since we are in the middle of the Ramadaan month, which is the period of forgiveness, let us all ask Al Ghafoor to forgive ourselves and also others. We also need to forgive others who have done wrong to us, just forgive them for Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala's sake! Just let it go! SCIENTIFIC BENEFITS OF FORGIVING OTHERS: According to recent research, American scientists established that those capable of forgiveness are healthier in both mind and body. Dr. Frederic Luskin, who holds a Ph.D. in Counselling and Health Psychology from Stanford University, and his team, studied 259 people living in the city of San Francisco. The scientists invited the subjects to attend six one-and-a-half-hour sessions, and aimed to instruct the subjects in forgiveness during their conversations.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 34

The subjects of the experiments stated that they suffered less after forgiving people who had wronged them. THE RESEARCH SHOWED THAT PEOPLE WHO LEARNED TO FORGIVE FEEL MUCH BETTER, NOT ONLY EMOTIONALLY BUT ALSO PHYSICALLY. FOR EXAMPLE, IT WAS ESTABLISHED THAT AFTER THE EXPERIMENT PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL SYMPTOMS SUCH AS STRESS-RELATED BACKACHE, INSOMNIA AND STOMACHACHES WERE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED IN THESE INDIVIDUALS. Message of the Day: Do the following break ones fast ornot?

care@easyibaadat.info

Do the following break ones fast or not? Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Many of us have the questions, whether these things, mentioned below, have any effect on our fasting, so let us see individiually, whether any of these invalidate our fast: 1). Eating out of forgetfulness. 2). Voluntary Vomitting and Involuntary Vomitting. 3). Bleeding out of injury, accident or sickness. 4). Using toothpaste to brush your teeth while fasting. 5). Smoking. 6). Exposing the Awrah or being naked in front of others, or seeing someone else naked while you are fasting. Answer: 1). EATING OUT OF FORGETFULNESS: NO. Al-Bukhaari (6669) and Muslim (1155) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "Whoever forgets he is fasting and eats or drinks, let him complete his fast for it is Allaah Who has fed him and given him to drink." 2). VOLUNTARY VOMITTING AND INVOLUNTARY VOMITTING: VOLUNTARY FASTING BREAKS THE FAST WHILE INVOLUNTARY FASTING DOESN'T BREAKS THE FAST. al-Tirmidhi (720) narrated from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet(Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "Whoever cannot help vomiting does not have to make up the fast, but whoever makes himself vomit deliberately, let him make it up." [Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi] If a person feels that his stomach is churning and what is in it is going to come out, then do we tell him that he has to prevent it, or to make it happen? No, but we do say: take a neutral stance. Do not try to make it happen and do not try to prevent it, because if you make yourself vomit you will have broken your fast, but if you try to prevent it you will harm yourself. So leave it, and if it comes out without any action on your part, then it will not harm you

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 37

and you will not have broken your fast. If some of the vomit goes back into the stomach without any deliberate action on a person's part, then his fast is valid, because this did not happen by his choice. The Standing Committee was asked (10/254) about a fasting person who vomited then swallowed his vomit without meaning to - what is the ruling in this case? They replied: If he vomited deliberately then his fast is invalidated, but if he could not help it then his fast is not invalidated. Similarly it is not invalidated by his swallowing it so long as he did not do that deliberately. [End Quote.] 3). BLEEDING OUT OF INJURY, ACCIDENT OR SICKNESS: The guidelines concerning the blood that invalidates the fast are as follows: 1 - If the blood comes out as the result of a person's actions or choice; this is subject to further discussion: (i) If the blood comes out by means of cupping, this invalidates the fast, because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "The cupper and the one to whom cupping is done both break their fast." (ii) If it comes out by a means other than cupping, such as venesection (opening a vein). If the amount is large and that has an effect on the person's body, then this invalidates his fast (such as donating blood). If the amount is small and it does not harm the person, then it does not invalidate his fast, such as the small amount of blood that is taken for testing. 2 - If the blood comes out through no deliberate action, such as an accident or nosebleed or an injury to any part of the body, his fast is still valid even if the amount of blood is large. This is the summary of a fatwa issued by Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen. See Fataawa Islamiyyah, 2/132 But if the blood that comes out through no deliberate action is of such a large amount that he becomes weak and unable to fast, then it is permissible for him to break his fast and he should fast another day to make up for it. 4). USING TOOTHPASTE TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH WHILE FASTING: If tooth paste does not get into the throat, then the fast is not broken. However, it would be better to use tooth paste at night and to use Siwaak at day time. 5). SMOKING: Shaykh ibn 'Uthaymeen said on this issue, "I think that this is a view for which there is no basis. Rather smoking is a kind of drinking; in

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 38

Arabic they say that one "drinks" a cigarette. Moreover, there is no doubt that it reaches the stomach and the inside of the body, and everything that reaches the stomach and the inside of the body invalidates the fast, whether it is beneficial or harmful, even if a person were to swallow a bead from the masbahah, or a piece of iron, or anything else, it invalidates the fast. So it is not essential that the thing that invalidates the fast, or that is eaten or drunk, should be nourishing or beneficial. Everything that reaches the stomach is regarded as food or drink. They believe - indeed they know - that this is a kind of drink, and if anyone says this then he is being arrogant. Moreover, I think that the month of Ramadaan is an opportunity for the one who is sincerely resolved and wants to give up this foul, harmful habit of smoking. I think that it is an opportunity because he is going to abstain from it throughout the day in Ramadaan, and at night he can distract himself from it by means of the food and drink that Allaah has permitted to him, and by frequenting the mosques and attending gatherings of righteous people, and he can keep away from those who have this habit. If he abstains from it throughout the month, then that will be a great help to him in giving it up for the rest of his life. This is an opportunity which smokers should not miss." [End quote. Majmoo' Fataawa Ibn 'Uthaymeen, Fataawa al-Siyaam (203. 204)] Hence, smoking breaks the fast, and it cannot be used as an excuse not to fast. How can a sin be taken as an excuse?! 6). EXPOSING THE AWRAH OR BEING NAKED IN FRONT OF OTHERS, OR SEEING SOMEONE ELSE NAKED WHILE YOU ARE FASTING. Showing the 'awrah in front of others for whom it is not permissible to see it is haraam. He said: "Cover your 'awrah except from your wife and those whom your right hand possesses (i.e., concubines)." Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: This shows that it is haraam for a man to look at the 'awrah of another man and for a woman to look at the 'awrah of another woman, and there is no difference of opinion concerning that. End quote. Sharh Muslim, 4/30. If your awrah gets exposed unintentionally, then there is no sin on you and the other person should avert his gaze and not look at it. Fasting is not invalidated in either case - whether it is done deliberately or by mistake. Source: IslamQA With Best Wishes

Message of the Day: Health Advice for Ramadaan

care@easyibaadat.info

Health Advice for Ramadan Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ We have brought together in this article the views and recommendations of doctors and expert dieticians regarding healthy nutrition during Ramadan. It is our hope that the entire Islamic world will spend this blessed month in health, peace, security, abundance, and solidarity. Please share and help!! Beware of Poor Nutritional Habits! In order to fulfill the fasting obligation without suffering any health problems, a number of unwise dietary habits need to be avoided. For those fasting during Ramadan, it is of great importance to pay close attention to what they eat during the two main meals; before sunrise (sahur) and after sunset (iftar). They need to be carefully aware of changes that take place in their bodies when fasting throughout the day. Since eating nothing for long hours increases one's appetite and satiation threshold, the typical result is the quicker consumption of more food than normal. THEREFORE, THE BELIEVERS SHOULD AVOID SUDDEN AND EXCESSIVE FOOD CONSUMPTION, ESPECIALLY DURING THE EVENING MEAL. Increased consumption of such foodstuffs as meat, bread, rice, pasta, baked goods, desserts, and pastries is common during Ramadan, while the consumption of fruit and vegetables decreases. However, the levels of protein, vitamins, and minerals that the body requires for a healthy, energetic life do not alter during this month. In addition, BEHAVIORS SUCH AS OVEREATING, EATING TOO WIDE A RANGE OF FOODS TOO QUICKLY, FAILURE TO GET UP FOR SAHUR MEAL, AND EATING TOO MUCH BEFORE SUNRISE, MAY LEAD TO ULCERS AND OTHER DISORDERS, EVEN ABDOMINAL BLEEDING. For these and other similar reasons, the following basic points need to be borne in mind in order for you to fast in a healthy manner and not to tire your bodies: * 1. What Health Issues Need to be Considered When Fasting? Those who fast during Ramadan need to be careful TO DRINK ENOUGH WATER AND MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR SLEEP PATTERNS. INSUFFICIENT SLEEP CAN LEAD TO HEADACHES AND LOW BLOOD PRESSURE.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 42

Since metabolism falls rapidly during Ramadan's daylong fasting, it is easy to gain weight. Therefore, high-calorie, rich foods should be avoided. - In the evening, sudden consumption of large quantities of food may lead to indigestion. - Be keen to have the sahur meal, since fasting without eating a predawn meal prolongs the length of time one goes without food, and this results in a quick fall in metabolism and a possible occurrence of fatigue and headache. - Whether or not you get up early for the sahur meal, EAT SLOWLY, CHEW YOUR FOOD WELL, AND DRINK ENOUGH WATER. IN THE EVENING, AVOIDING EATING TO COMPLETE FULLNESS WILL IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF YOUR SLEEP. AVOID RICH, FATTY AND SPICY FOODS AT BOTH MEALS. - Since the body of a fasting person will be deprived of water for a long period, it is important to drink often between evening and dawn. - In order not to become very thirsty while fasting, be careful to AVOID SALTY FOODS SUCH AS PICKLES AND PEANUTS AT YOUR SAHUR MEAL. - Blood sugar levels drop during fasting. However, they rise very fast when food is consumed suddenly in the evening. If you do not get up before dawn to eat, your blood sugar levels begin to fall in the very early hours of the day and soon reach even lower levels. After the evening meal, therefore, you should follow the principle of eating little and often. - DURING RAMADAN, BE CAREFUL TO AVOID INACTIVITY. YOU CAN HAVE A WALK TWO HOURS AFTER THE EVENING MEAL, AS LONG AS IT IS NOT TOO STRENUOUS. - ON AN EMPTY STOMACH, HOWEVER, YOU SHOULD AVOID WALKING, JOGGING, OR PUTTING IN EXCESSIVE EFFORT IN THE GYM AS A MEANS WHEREBY TO BURN OFF EXCESS FOOD INTAKE. * 2. What Should We Eat When Breaking the Fast? - The ideal recommended evening meal is to begin eating slowly and moderately at sunset, followed by a main course a few hours later. - BEGIN WITH DATES, WATER, SOUP AND LIGHT FOODS.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 43

- DO NOT EAT TOO MUCH OR TOO QUICKLY. - The main course should be eaten a few hours after sunset. GIVE PRIORITY TO FRUIT AND VEGETABLES, AND TAKE CARE TO CONSUME YOGHURT, BUTTERMILK (DILUTED YOGHURT) OR MILK. - Preference should be given to vegetables such as fresh green beans, spinach, aborigines, purslane, Brussels sprouts, white cabbage, lupus, and broccoli, as well as small quantities of fat-free fish, low-fat chicken, and dried beans and seeds. - Traditional desserts at the evening meal should be eaten two hours afterwards. Prefer milky puddings to syrupy desserts. - In the sahur meal, avoid eating spicy, fatty, or salty foods that will make you feel thirsty during the day. * 3. What Foods Should We Consume in Limited Quantities? - Instead of gorging yourself before sunrise, choose light foods, such as whole-wheat cereal products, vegetables and salads that get absorbed slowly into the bloodstream. During Ramadan, especially before dawn, consume high-fiber products and avoid heavy, spicy foods and all kinds of fried and fatty foods, such as fried chickens and kebabs. - Do not neglect to consume at least two portions of fruit as snacks between your evening and sahur meals. Consume nourishing liquids and foods such as fruit juice and buttermilk during the night between evening and dawn. Avoid acidic drinks. - Also avoid refined carbohydrates, too much table sugar, jam, honey, treacle, and products made from white flour, heavy desserts, carbonated drinks and ones containing caffeine. Additionally, experts recommend consuming limited quantities of flour-based desserts, and they say that milky puddings are preferable. Dried fruit in syrup made from normal sugar is very popular, but it raises insulin levels and, for this reason, dieticians say that dried fruit in syrup should be cooked with

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 44

very little sugar. They also recommend vegetable-based pastries in sahur meal, instead of ones containing meat or cheese. Be careful not to consume too many of ready-to-eat meals, flour-based foodstuffs, and fried foods during Ramadan. Unfortunately, Ramadan pita bread is one of the hardest foods to digest, and experts recommend whole wheat bread instead. * 4. What Foods are the Healthiest to Eat During Ramadan? After fasting and going without food all day long, instead of overeating, it is best to choose low-glycemic foods that are digested and absorbed slowly into the bloodstream, such as dark cereal products, vegetables, and salads. The following are some of the healthiest foods that you can choose: - High-fiber foods (apples, pears, and grapes with the skin on; dried apricots, prunes, and dates; cereal products and dried cereals; green beans, peas, and spinach). - Foods rich in Omega 3 and folic acid (products made from whole-wheat flour and breakfast cereals such as meusli; asparagus, spinach, peas, and tomato juice; salmon, tuna fish, sardines, and mackerel; linseed, purslane, lentils, walnuts, and almonds). - Foods made with non-saturated oils, especially filtered olive oil. - Fruits like oranges rich in Vitamin C. * 5. How Can One Avoid Gaining Weight During Ramadan? Foods high in carbohydrates --that are consumed in the evening-- trigger the release of the insulin hormone, which plays an important role in stimulating the appetite. Therefore, people who overeat in the evening can easily put on weight and also risk increased blood fats and blood pressure that in turn can lead to many diseases, such as heart and circulatory disorders. Delicatessen products, baked goods, pita bread, and desserts are all high-calorie foods that can lead to weight gain. Dietary experts, therefore, recommend that the ideal early-evening meal should be eaten slowly and moderately, followed by the main course a few hours later. ANOTHER WAY TO AVOID PUTTING ON WEIGHT DURING RAMADAN IS TO DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.

Does swallowing saliva or phelgm break ones fast? Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ A very common question which many people have - Does swallowing saliva or phelgm break ones fast? The scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) differed concerning the fasting person swallowing phlegm or mucus: does it invalidate the fast or not? The correct view is that it does not invalidate it, because it does not come under the same heading as food and drink. Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When the scholars differ, the reference point is the Qur'aan and Sunnah. If we are uncertain about a matter, as to whether it invalidates the act of worship or does not, the basic principle is that it does not invalidate it (unless there is evidence to the contrary). Based on that, swallowing phlegm does not break the fast. What matters is that one should leave phlegm and avoid trying to bring it up to the mouth from the throat. But if it comes up to the mouth, he should expel it, whether he is fasting or not. With regard to putting drops in the ears and whether that breaks the fast, that requires evidence that will be proof for the individual before Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, concerning breaking the fast. [End quote from Majmoo' al-Fataawa, 19/356] He also said: The more correct view is that phlegm does not break the fast even if it reaches the mouth and one swallows it. It does not break the fast but one should not swallow it, because the scholars forbade that, because it is something off-putting and one should not swallow it. [End quote from Liqa' al-Baab al-Maftooh, no. 152] Source: IslamQA With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: I`tikaf

care@easyibaadat.info

I`tikaf Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ I`tikaf (seclusion in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan) is for the completion of the benefits of fasting. If a person has remained denied of inner peace and tranquility and has been unable to concentrate on prayer and supplication during the earlier part of Ramadan, he can make amends for it through i`tikaf. In Zad Al-Ma`ad, the prominent scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim says-The basic purpose of i`tikaf is that the heart gets attached to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, and, with it, one attains inner composure and equanimity; preoccupation with the mundane things of life ceases, and the state is reached in which all fears, hopes, and apprehensions are superseded by the love and remembrance of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala; every anxiety is transformed into the anxiety for Him; eVERY THOUGHT AND FEELING IS BLENDED WITH THE EAGERNESS TO GAIN HIS NEARNESS AND TO EARN HIS GOOD FAVOR, AND DEVOTION TO THE ALMIGHTY IS GENERATED INSTEAD OF DEVOTION TO THE WORLD. THIS IS THE PROVISION FOR THE GRAVE WHERE THERE WILL BE NEITHER A FRIEND NOR A HELPER. THIS IS THE HIGH AIM AND PURPOSE OF I`TIKAF, WHICH IS THE SPECIALTY OF THE MOST SUBLIME PART OF RAMADAN, THAT IS, THE LAST TEN DAYS. Similarly, Shah Waliullah remarks in his Hujjatullahi Al-Balighah-Since i`tikaf in the mosque is a means to the attainment of peace of mind and purification of the heart, and it affords an excellent opportunity for forging an identity with the angels and having a share in the blissfulness of Laylat Al-Qadr (the Night of Decree), and for devoting oneself to prayer and meditation, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has set apart the last ten days of the month of Ramadan for it and made it a sunnah for His pious and virtuous slaves. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) always observed i`tikaf and the Muslims have, on the whole, adhered to it. `A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) relates that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) regularly observed i`tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan till the end of his life. After him, his wives carried on this practice of observing I`tikaf regularly. (Reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim)

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 56

It is related by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) observed i`tikaf for ten days every year in the month of Ramadan. In the year of his death he did it for twenty days (Al-Bukhari). It is recommended that every Muslim make at least one I`tikaf in his/ her life. There must be at least few people in every community who should do it in every Masjid every year to keep this tradition alive. Men should do I`tikaf in the Masjid so that they can pray in Jama`ah (congregation) and also offer the Friday prayers. Women can also do I`tikaf, but theirs must be at home for reasons of modesty and for their own convenience. There is a great blessing in I`tikaf and people who do it bring blessings upon themselves, upon their families, and upon the Muslim community at large. The Sunnah of I`tikaf is that one make the intention and begin the I`tikaf on the evening of the 20th of Ramadan from sunset time and continue until the sighting of the moon for `Edul-Fitr. During I`tikaf men should stay in the Masjid day and night and should not leave it except for the use of toilet or shower. They are allowed to eat also inside the Masjid, but if it is not convenient they may go outside and come back as soon as they finish. During I`tikaf one should spend most of one's time in prayer, reading the Qur'an, dhikr, and reflection. Engaging in business and other worldly conversation and activities is not allowed during I`tikaf. However, attending a Janazah (Funeral) or visiting a sick person or leaving for any emergency is permissible. By Sheikh Abu Al-Hasan `Ali Nadvi Translated by Muhammad Asif Kidwai * Based on the author's book The Four Pillars of Islam. ** Sheikh Abu Al-Hasan `Ali Nadvi passed away in Ramadan 1420 (December 1999) at the age of 86. He was a great scholar, thinker, writer, da`iyah, and world-renowned personality. With over fifty books and numerous speeches written in Arabic, Urdu, and English, he was tireless in advancing the cause of Islam. He was a member of several Islamic institutions and received in 1980 the King Faisal Award for his service to Islam. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala bless him, forgive him and grant him Jannah, Aameen! Message of the Day: Tafsir of Surah al 'Alaq - The Clot (Surah96)... Verses 13-19

care@easyibaadat.info

Tafsir of Surah al 'Alaq - The Clot (Surah 96)... Verses 13-19 Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Today we will do Tafsir of verses 13-19 of Surah Al 'Alaq (The Clot) 13) Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is forward? 14) Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 15) No indeed! If he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock 16) a lying, sinful forelock! 17) Let him call his henchmen, 18) We will call the guards of Hell! 19) No indeed, do not obey him, but prostrate and draw near (to Allah). Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) proceeds to threaten those who persists in such a state, "No indeed! If he does not desist," from what he says and does "We will seize him by the forelock," forcibly, harshly as is befitting "a lying," in what it says "sinful" in what it does "forelock! Let him" who is deserving of this punishment "call his henchmen," his companions and friends, and those around him to help him out of his predicament. "We will call the guards of Hell," to seize him and torment him. Carefully consider which of the two groups is mightier and more able! This then is the state of this prohibiter and the punishment he is threatened with. As for the one who is being prohibited, Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) orders him never to lend ear to such a person, "No indeed, do not obey him," for he commands only to that which will bring loss and anguish"BUT PROSTRATE," TO YOUR LORD "AND DRAW NEAR," to ALLAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA) IN PROSTRATION AND OUTSIDE OF PROSTRATION BY PERFORMING ALL THE VARIOUS DUTIES OF OBEDIENCE: all of them draw one closer to Him and His good-pleasure.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 60

This is general to every prohibiter and every person prohibited even though the specific occasion of revelation concerned Abu Jahl when he prohibited the Messenger of Allah Muhammad (Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam) from praying and tormented him and harmed him. So dear friends, let us follow these verses and learn a lesson. No matter how much influential or powerful we are in this world, we still have to return to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). And if a person is a transgressor or disbeliever or the one who desist men and women from worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala), he is warned that he will be flung from his forelock and thrown in hell fire, his power and influence which he gathered in this world will never help him to save the torment of hell. His friends and well wishers on this earth can never come and help him too. This verse should install fear in our hearts of the punishment of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Let us not be ignorant and let us learn and follow the religion. Teach it to others and fear Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Never stop anyone from worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). And similarly, do not obey anyone who stops you from worshipping Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Race with each other in good deeds and keep the Qur'an and Sunnah in your mind and in your actions. Message of the Day: The Last Sprint Ways to Keep Yourself Motivated in the last few days of Ramadaan

care@easyibaadat.info

The Last Sprint - Ways to Keep Yourself Motivated in the last few days of Ramadaan Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ The race for good deeds starts with huge momentum at the beginning of Ramadan, but somewhere down the race some of us slow down. With only few days left till end of Ramadan, we need to make that one last sprint in order to finish strong and be among the winners! Nothing is more disappointing than an athlete who had a good run for the first 400m then messes up the last 100m sprint! In this article, you'll learn about ways to keep yourself motivated in the remaining few days of Ramadan. Below is a list of top tips to stay motivated during the remainder of Ramadan. * Keep intentions pure: Intentions are the key drivers for a Muslim, and as Muslims we should have one main intention and that is to serve Allah (glorified and exalted be He) and attain the best DESTINATION: JANNAH. * Overcome obstacles: Acknowledging internal and external obstacles that are stopping you from continuing on a productive path. Destroy internal obstacles with the tools and techniques Islam equipped you with; CONCEPTS SUCH AS PATIENCE, TRUST IN ALLAH, AND IHSAAN ARE GREAT CONCEPTS TO HELP YOU OVERCOME PSYCHOLOGICAL AND EMOTIONAL BARRIERS. FOR EXTERNAL OBSTACLES, SUCH AS TIMING, WORK, POLITICAL ISSUES, ETC DON'T LET THEM BOG YOU DOWN AND JUST KEEP GOING! * Take it one step at a time: One of the reasons that some people get tired around this time of Ramadan is that we almost unrealistically expect to change overnight during ramadan whilst it takes the remaining 11 months of struggle to adapt to the new habits. Change won't happen in the space of a few days: even world-class athletes can't physically do a sprint without plenty of advance training sessions. For every daily act of ibadah, we must treat it in the same way as athletes do with training. Each day in ramadan is a buildup to the finale (The Last 10

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 63

Nights) where you aim for peak performance. * Treat yourself: We're not suggesting that you should go for an all out 5 day holiday package! We refer here to a small treat (nothing extravagant) to reward yourself with for meeting a target at regular intervals in Ramadan. For example, if you were able to pray your night prayers for example - treat yourself to a new book you have perhaps been eager to buy. These treats provide a motivational booster to facilitate your actions. * Finders keepers: Which new good deed have you found during this Ramadan that you want to keep after Ramadan? Perhaps it is the night prayer or the recitation of at least a page of the Qur'an. Whichever good habit that you're starting to enjoy, KEEP THEM! (Similarly, whichever bad habits you're relieved to have stopped, never go back to them again!) * Be in good company: Companionship plays a fundamental role in motivation. Finding good company might be hard in our surroundings, but choose those places and times when you are likely to be amongst pious people of knowledge, understanding, humility, modesty and those conscious of Allah (glorified and exalted be He). Join circles where you may find such brothers/sisters to befriend and most importantly - MAKE DUA ALLAH (GLORIFIED AND EXALTED BE HE) GRANTS YOU GOOD COMPANIONSHIP. FOR EXAMPLE: SUPPLICATE: 'OH ALLAH, GUIDE ME TOWARDS RIGHTEOUS COMPANY'. * Don't be over confident: One of the reasons we slow down after 15-20 days of Ramadan is we feel that we've done 'enough'. However, we must remember that any action of worship we perform is dependant on Allah (glorified and exalted be He) and we are not capable of performing these acts without His Mercy and Guidance. Message of the Day: The virtues of Laylatul Qadr

care@easyibaadat.info

The virtues of Laylatul Qadr Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu `anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whosoever performs the night prayer on the night of Al-Qadr with Eemaan (firm belief) and seeking reward will have all his past sins forgiven ." [1] This hadeeth is evidence for the virtue of the night of Al-Qadr as well as performing qiyaam during it. And it indicates that it is a grand night, which Allah has honored and made better than a thousand months in regards to its blessing and the blessings found in the righteous deeds that are performed in it. Thus it is better than the worship of a thousand months and that is equivalent to eighty-three years and four months. Due to this, whoever performs qiyaam (night prayer) with true faith and while seeking reward in it, will be forgiven his past sins. There were certain verses concerning this virtue: Allaah says: "We sent it (the Qur'aan) down on a blessed night. Verily We are Ever-Warning. Therein (on that night) is decreed every matter of ordainment ." [2] Therefore, it is a "blessed night" meaning it possesses much good and blessing due to its merit and the great reward that awaits the one who does good deeds in it. Among its blessings, is that Allaah revealed the Qur'aan in it. Allaah says: "Verily, We have sent it (the Qur'aan) down in the night of Al-Qadr. And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr is? The night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. Therein descend the angels and the Rooh (Jibreel) by their Lord's permission with all decrees. (All that night) there is peace, until the appearance of dawn ." [3] Ibn Katheer (rahimahullah) said concerning Allaah's saying: "Therein descend the angels and the Rooh":

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 69

"This means that the descending of the angels increases during this night due to the vast amount of its blessings. And the angels descend along with the descent of blessing and mercy, just as they descend during the time when the Qur'aan is recited and encompass the gatherings in which Allaah is remembered and spread their wings for the true seeker of knowledge, showing respect for him."[4] This night occurs only in Ramadaan, since Allaah revealed the Qur'aan in it. He informs us that its revelation occurred during the month of Ramadaan in His saying: "Verily, We have sent it (the Qur'aan) down in the night of Al-Qadr." [5] And His saying: "The month of Ramadaan in which was revealed the Qur'aan." [6] This means that its revelation from Allaah to His Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) began in it. Allaah's statement: "The night of Al-Qadr" is either an indicative of the honor and station of that night, as it is said: "Such and such person has great Qadr". The conjunction of "the night" to Al-Qadr is the joining of a descriptive feature to it, thus making it mean "An honorable night". The word "Al-Qadr" may also be in reference to the ordainment and disposal of affairs. Thus, its being joined to the word "the night" would be in order to denote a place or time to it. So it would mean "the night in which all that will occur in the following year will be decreed." This is similar to Allaah's saying: "Therein (on that night) is decreed every matter of ordainment." [7] Qataadah said of this: "Therein is decreed every matter of the (upcoming) year"[8] and Ibn Al-Qayyim said that this is the correct opinion . [9] What seems most correct is that there is nothing that restricts the possibility of these two understandings and Allaah knows best. His (the Prophet's) statement: "with Eemaan" means with firm conviction in what Allaah has prepared for those who stand in prayer during this magnificent night. And "seeking reward" means looking for reward and the attainment of recompense. Thus, this is a grand night, which Allaah has chosen for beginning the revelation of the Qur'aan. So the Muslim must acknowledge

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 70

its weight in worth, by guarding it and spending it in worship whilst having firm conviction and seeking the reward of Allaah, in order that Allaah may forgive all of his previous sins. This is why the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) warned us about being heedless of this night and being neglectful of spending it in worship, for the Muslim would be prevented from its good. Abu Hurairah (radiyallaahu `anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Ramadaan has come to you -- a blessed month. Allaah has made it obligatory upon you to fast in it. During this month, the gates of heaven are open, the gates of the Hellfire are closed and the evil devils are chained. To Allaah belongs a night in it, which is better than a thousand months. Whosoever is prevented from its good, then he has been prevented." [10] The Muslim should supplicate much on the nights in which the night of Al-Qadr is sought. And he should supplicate with that which the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) instructed 'Aa'ishah (radiyallaahu `anhaa) with, when she asked him: "What if I know on which night the night of Al-Qadr occurs, what should I say?" So he (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Say: 'Allaahumma Innaka 'Afuwwun Tuhibbul-'Afwa Fa'affoo 'annee.' " [O Allaah, indeed you are All-Pardoning. You love forgiveness, so forgive me." [11] Ibn Katheer (rahimahullah) said: "It is recommended to supplicate a lot at all times and (to supplicate) more than that during the month of Ramadaan, its last ten days and its odd days. And it is highly recommended to increase ones invoking with this supplication: 'O Allaah, indeed you are All-Pardoning. You love forgiveness, so forgive me.'" Message of the Day: "All Praises and Thanks to Allah" ... (Shortstory)

care@easyibaadat.info

"All Praises and Thanks to Allah" ... (Short story) Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!_ Our email today will be in a form of a short story of a king and a minister. This story will InshaAllah, reconfirm our faith in Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) and guide us in praising and thanking Him always. If you have children at home, please do tell them Islamic stories so that they develop faith at an early age itself. Once there lived a powerful king. He was very wealthy but arrogant and unthankful. He had a faithful and a wise minister who had one habit - at every moment and every occasion, he used to say, "All Praises and Thanks to Allah." The king never used to respond to this statement. The king had a passion for hunting. Whenever he used to go for hunting, he used to take his minister along. One day, on the dining table, the king, his minister and the people from his palace sat down for lunch. They were talking on various subjects of his kingdom. The king while discussing , picked up a knife and started to cut fruits kept near to him. He became so engrossed in talking that while handling the knife suddenly cut his index finger into half! Blood streamed out from his finger and the king shouted in pain. The minister remained calm and said -"All Praises and Thanks to Allah." The entire crowd turned silent. The minister had just thanked Allah when a calamity had fallen on the king! The king could not control his anger and shouted at the minister, "How dare you! I lost my finger and still you praise and thank Allah." The minister said, "Your Highness, Allah is very wise! What He does, does for the Good." It was too much for the king now. He ordered the minister to be thrown in jail for the rest of his life. While the guards were dragging the minister, handcuffed, the minister said, "All Praises and Thanks to Allah.". "What a fool!", exclaimed the king, "He will never come out of the prison now and he is still praising and thanking Allah. What good can happen to him now that he still has his faith intact." Days passed by, the minister was in

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 73

the jail and the king continued his behavior of being ungrateful to the Almighty. He had lost his finger forever. In spite of the broken finger, he never lost his passion for hunting. One fine day, he assembled the best of his men and decided to go for hunting. The king and his men entered the deep jungle together, but very soon, the king spotted a deer and ran behind it. After some time, he realized that he was not followed by his helpers. When he turned around, he realized he was lost. There was no one around him. He got scared and started to return but could not find his way. He was lost! Suddenly he heard loud sound and saw cannibals surrounding him. He tried to escape, but the cannibals held him and said, "We have found you as a suitable person to be offered as a sacrifice to our gods!" The king pleaded them to spare his life and offered large sum of money. The cannibals refused and took him to their tribe who were rejoiced to see him as a sacrifice to their gods. The king thought his end was near. Suddenly an old man in the tribe said, "Stop! This man has a cut finger, we cannot offer a defective person as a sacrifice to our gods, leave him alone." The cannibals left him. The king was shocked. He now realized that the minister had truly said, "All Praises and Thanks to Allah." Somehow, he managed to come back to his palace and ordered the minister to be released immediately. He explained the whole story and the minister said, "As I told you, whatever Allah does, He does for the Good." The king said, "But I imprisoned you. How can you say, Allah did good to you." The minister smiled back at the king, "Your Highness, if you had not put me in jail, you would have asked me to come with you for hunting. And when the cannibals saw your cut finger, they left you. But I do not have a cut finger. They could have sacrificed me, instead! So shouldn't I thank Allah as he saved my life? " The king realized his mistake, apologized to the minister and he too began the habit of saying - "All Praises and Thanks to Allah." Zakaat al-Fitr Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ 1. Who Should Pay Zakat Al-Fitr? Zakat Al-Fitr is incumbent on every free Muslim who possesses one Sa` (2.176 kilograms or 4.797 pounds) of dates or barley over and above his basic needs of food for himself and his family/dependants for the duration of one day and night. Every free Muslim must pay Zakat Al-Fitr for himself, his wife, children, and servants. Ibn `Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said, "The Prophet, Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, enjoined the payment of one Sa` of dates or one Sa` of barley as Zakat Al-Fitr on every Muslim, young and old, male and female, free and slave." (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) 2. Significance of Zakat Al-Fitr Zakat Al-Fitr was declared by the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) as a requisite for one's fast to be accepted. It is meant to cement the relationship between the members of the Muslim society, to alleviate the pains of the poor, to cultivate the sense of brotherhood and solidarity in the hearts of the Muslims, etc. Various reasons are given by scholars for this obligatory charity. Some say that this charity helps the poor and needy, and takes care of their needs in the month of Ramadan and also makes it possible for them to celebrate the `Eid festival with other Muslims. Other scholars maintain that this charity is meant to expiate (Kaffarah) for any mistakes or wrongdoings a person may have done during this blessed month. Ibn `Abbas said, "The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, enjoined Zakat Al-Fitr so that those who fast are purified of their sins and the poor and needy are fed. Therefore, whoever gives it before the `Eid prayer, it will be counted for him as an acceptable Zakah (of al-Fitr), but if someone delays and gives it afterwards, his charity will be an ordinary one." (Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah)

Page 79

3. Time of Zakat Al-Fitr This charity should be given during the month of Ramadan, anytime before the `Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. Because it can be given anytime until the time of `Eid-ul-Fitr, it is called Zakat Al-Fitr. The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, urged Muslims to pay this charity in the month of Ramadan. So dear members, if you havent taken out the money or have not yet planned to do the Zakaat ul Fitr, do it as soon as possible, as Ramadaan is slowing coming to it's end and the Zakaat ul Fitr will be valid only if it is done before Ramadaan ends, if it's done after Eid, then it will be considered only as a normal Zakaat. Message of the Day: Ruling on Eid and the Sunnahs of Eid

Ruling on Eid and the Sunnahs of Eid Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ EasyIbaadat.info wishes you and your family Eid Mubarak. May Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) bless us and unite us and solve our problems! Aameen! Allaah has set out several rulings concerning Eid, including the following: 1 - It is mustahabb to recite takbeer during the night of Eid from sunset on the last day of Ramadaan until the imam comes to lead the prayer. The format of the takbeer is as follows: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi'l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allaah). Or you can say Allaahu akbar three times, so you say: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi'l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great , Allaah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allaah). Both are permissible. Men should raise their voices reciting this dhikr in the marketplaces, mosques and homes, but women should not raise their voices. 2 - You should wear your best clothes - this is for men. With regard to women, they should not wear beautiful clothes when they go out to the Eid prayer-place, because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: "Let them go out looking decent" i.e., in regular clothes that are not fancy. It is haraam for them to go out wearing perfume and makeup.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 82

3 - Some of the scholars regarded it as mustahabb to do ghusl for the Eid prayer, because it is narrated that some of the salaf did this. Doing ghusl for Eid prayer is mustahabb, just as it is prescribed for Jumu'ah because one is going to meet people. So if one does ghusl, that is good. 4 - If Jumu'ah and Eid fall on the same day, the Eid prayer should be held, as should Jumu'ah prayer, as is indicated by the apparent meaning of the hadeeth of al-Nu'maan ibn Basheer which was narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh. But those who attend the Eid prayer with the imam may attend Jumu'ah if they wish. 5- One of the rulings on the day of Eid - Eid al-Fitr - is that Zakaat al-Fitr is due on this day. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) enjoined that it should be paid before the Eid prayer. It is permissible to pay it one or two days before that, because of the hadeeth of Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) which was narrated by al-Bukhaari: "They used to give it one or two days before (Eid) al-Fitr." If it is paid after the Eid prayer, it does not count as Sadaqat al-Fitr, because of the hadeeth of Ibn 'Abbaas: "Whoever pays it before the prayer, it is Zakaat al-Fitr, and whoever pays it after the prayer, it is ordinary charity." It is haraam to delay Zakaat al-Fitr until after the Eid prayer. If one delays it with no excuse then it is not acceptable zakaah, but if there is an excuse such as if a person is traveling and does not have anything to give or anyone to give it to, or he is expecting his family to pay it and they are expecting him to pay it, then in this case he should pay it when it is easy for him to do so, even if that is after the prayer, and there is no sin on him because he has an excuse. 6 - People should greet one another, but that results in haraam actions on the part of many people, such as men entering houses and shaking hands with unveiled women without any mahram being present. Some of these evils are worse than others. Congratulations and good wishes exchanged by people can be anything, no matter what the wording, such as saying to one another Taqabbala Allaah minna wa minkum (May Allaah accept (good deeds) from us and from you" or "Eid mubaarak" and other permissible expressions of congratulations. 7- Some people have the custom of going out to the graveyard on the day of Eid to greet the occupants of the graves, but the occupants of the graves have no need of any greeting or congratulations, because they do not fast or pray qiyaam. 8 - There is nothing wrong with what men do on the day of Eid of embracing one another.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 83

9 - It is prescribed for the one who goes out to the Eid prayer to go by one route and return by another, following the example of the Messenger of Allaah(Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam). This Sunnah does not apply to other prayers, Jumu'ah or anything else, it only applies to Eid. It was said that the reason for that was so that the two routes would testify for him on the Day of Resurrection, for the earth will speak on the Day of Resurrection and say what was done on it, both good and bad. THE SUNNAHS OF THE DAY OF EID Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ EasyIbaadat.info wishes you and your family Eid Mubarak. May Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) bless us and unite us and solve our problems! Aameen! THE SUNNAH OF THE DAY OF EID -:- EVERY MUSLIM SHOULD OBSERVE: 1 - Doing Ghusl before going out to the Prayer. Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar used to do ghusl on the day of Fitr before going to the place of prayer. [Malik :: Book 10 : Hadith 10.1.2] 2 - Eating before going out to pray on Eid al-Fitr: Narrated Anas bin Malik,: Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) used to eat odd number of dates. [Bukhari :: Book 2 :: Volume 15 :: Hadith 73] Whoever does not have any dates may eat anything that is permissible. 3 - Takbeer on the day of Eid The time for takbeer on Eid al-Fitr starts from the night before Eid until the imam enters to lead the Eid prayer. It was narrated in a saheeh report that 'Abd al-Rahmaan al-Sulami said, "They (companions) emphasized it more on the day of al-Fitr than the day of al-Adha.". Wakee' said, this refers to the takbeer. [See Irwa' al-Ghaleel, 3/122/] Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated with a saheeh isnaad that al-Zuhri said: The people used to recite Takbeer on Eid when they came out of their houses until they came to the prayer place, and until the imam came out. When the imam came out they fell silent, and when he said takbeer they said

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 86

takbeer. [See Irwa' al-Ghaleel, 1/121] The Takbeer is as follows: Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah, Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar, wa Lillaahi'l-hamd (Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, there is no god except Allaah, Allaah is Most Great, Allaah is Most Great, and all praise be to Allaah). 4 - Offering Congratulations It was narrated that Jubayr ibn Nufayr said: When the companions of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) met one another on the day of Eid, they would say to one another, " 'TAQABBAL ALLAAHU MINNA WA MINKUM' '(May Allaah accept (this worship) from us and from you)". [Ibn Hajar said, its isnaad is hasan. Al-Fath, 2/446.] 5 - Adorning oneself on the occasion of Eid. Narrated 'Abdullah bin Umar: Umar bought a silk cloak from the market, took it to Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) and said, "O Allah's Apostle! Take it and adorn yourself with it during the 'Id and when the delegations visit you." Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) replied, "This dress is for those who have no share (in the Hereafter)." [Bukhari :: Book 2 :: Volume 15 :: Hadith 69] The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) agreed with 'Umar on the idea of adorning oneself for Eid, but he denounced him for choosing this cloak because it was made of silk. Narrated Naafi: Ibn 'Umar used to wear his best clothes on Eid. [Sunan Kubra Bayhaqi 6363, Sahih Isnaad] So a man should wear the best clothes that he has when going out for Eid. 6Going to the Prayer by one route and returning by another. Narrated Jaabir ibn 'Abd-Allaah RA: "On the day of Eid, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) would vary his route, i.e., he would go via one route and come back via a different route". [Bukhaari 986] It was said that

Message of the Day : Compilation of Easy and Quick Dhikr

care@easyibaadat.info

Compilation of Easy and Quick Dhikr Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Ramadaan is over, but let us not stop ourselves from continuing the good deeds which we had been doing in Ramadaan. We worshipped Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, made Dhikr and fasted for Him, in Ramadaan, but now Ramadaan is over, so do not let your enthusiasm stop here. Do not lose hope or give up on Him! Worship Him and serve Him and Him alone! Many a times, we have lot of time in our hands, but do not use it efficiently and then we complain that some of our work is remaining due to lack of time. What we need is proper time management. Doing Dhikr too is easy and not difficult as many people think so. There are several good deeds which a person can do in a minute. Let us see what these are: In Just ONE minute we can recite SubhanAllah around 100 times In Just ONE minute we can recite Astaghfirullah around 100 times In Just ONE minute we can recite sallallahu alayhi wasallam (Duroodon the Holy Prophet) around 50 times In Just ONE minute we can recite SubhanAllah, Alhumdulillah, AllahuAkbar 33,33,34 times respectively before going to sleep. In Just ONE minute we can recite la ilaha illallah (There is no God but Allah) around 50 times In Just ONE minute we can recite subhanallahi wabihamdihi around 100 times In Just ONE minute you can recite this dhikr thrice after fajar salah and can earn and make your scale of good deeds heavier In shaa Allah ..these words are SUBHAN-ALLAHI WA BIHAMDIHI, `ADADA KHALQIHI, WA RIDA NAFSIHI, WA ZINATAH `ARSHIHI, WA MIDADA KALIMATIHI [ ALLAH-JALLAH JALALA HU, IS FREE FROM IMPERFECTION AND I BEGIN WITH HIS PRAISE, AS MANY TIMES AS THE NUMBER OF HIS CREATURES, IN ACCORDANCE WITH HIS GOOD PLEASURE, EQUAL TO THE WEIGHT OF HIS THRONE AND EQUAL TO THE INK THAT MAY BE USED IN RECORDING THE WORDS

(FOR HIS PRAISE)].''( MUSLIM) In Just 6-7 seconds we can recite Dhikr for eternal PEACE in life 'Astaghfirullaaha (3 times) Allaahumma 'Antas-Salaamu wa minkas-salaamu, tabaarakta yaa Dhul-Jalaali Wal-'Ikraam It takes few seconds only to recite Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim before eating drinking or staring any work and Saying Alhumdulillah often. Multiply your deeds by sharing this with others and by encouraging them Also Allah says in Quran Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest(13:28) We humans crave for peace and tranquility, for care and love , and we try to find them in places where Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) has not kept them , none can give you satisfaction of heart except the remembrance of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) therefore we should keep our tongues moist with the remembrance of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) and this is the only way to stay calm and peaceful in times of difficulties and the Allah's help comes to HIS believing servants who remembers HIM day and night. Some of the quick and easy deeds which will In shaa Allah bring peace in our lives and Allah will In shaa Allah fulfill all our desires: * Saying SubhanAllah 100 times removes sins and one earns 1000 deeds just by saying it hundred times, * Seeking forgiveness from Allah by saying Astaghfirullah makes us one whose duas are answered and according to hadiths Allah makes a wayout for such a slave from every anxiety, * Sending blessings on Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) is mentioned in Quran and Hadiths and by reciting them duas are answered and one recives blessings, * SubhanAllah , Alhumdulillah , AllahuAkbar and la ilaha illallah are four phrases which Allah loves most , and saying the first three 33,33 and 34 times respectively before sleeping and 10 times each after salah is a Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) , Similarly saying subhanallahi wabihamdihi wipes of sins even if they are like foam of the sea .

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 94

Take a few minutes to recite them When you're walking to your home, work or anywhere, maybe you can make use of some time & talk to Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). You could talk to Allah & make dua to Him for you & your loved ones; recite some Quran (even short surahs multiple times); do dhikr (remember Allah) (e.g say "SubhanAllah wa bi hamdihi" (How perfect Allah is & I praise Him)); do istighfar (ask for forgiveness) (e.g say "astaghfir-Allah"). Why not turn make use of this time instead of thinking of some song lyrics or day-dreaming the time away! Remember Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) often calling out HIS beautiful names Yah Allahu Yah Rehmanu Yah Raheem and sometimes as simple as SubhanAllah, Alhumdulillah, AllahuAkbar ..Praises will go up and blessings will come down In shaa Allah DHIKR IS A GUIDE TO EXCELLENT CHARACTER, AND A LIGHT THAT KEEPS US ON THE PATH TO PARADISE. Message of the Day: Power Of Isatghfar!

care@easyibaadat.info

Power Of Isatghfar! Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Say Astaghfirullah (I seek forgiveness of Allah) whenever you want to seek forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. It is not necessary that it should be said only after you have realised that you have sinned and have guilt feelings in your heart, you can say it all the time, because you never know when you had sinned even unintentionally and when you had done something which has been prohibited, even not knowing it. Astaghfirullah is the gateway of relief and happiness .. whenever you are in distress start reciting it and in shaa Allah it will take you out of your anxiety and will put you in a peaceful situation and will give you happiness In shaa Allah Benefits of Istaghfar removes anxiety and duas are answered. Istaghfar opens the door of sustenance Istaghfar opens the door of mercy . Istaghfar opens the door of knowledge Istaghfar is also gateway of productivity ! Istaghfar relieves you .. when you feel that sadness within you ..when you are disturbed and frustrated ..when anxiety surrounds you ..say Astaghfirullah Astaghfirullah .. Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said, "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.''[Abu Dawud]. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 97

Wasallam) not only made himself 70 till 100 times a day Istighfar and Taubah, but as well enjoined the Muslims to ask Allah Ta'ala frequently for forgiveness. One of the many virtues of Istighfar, that can be found in Ahadith, is that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala deals with the person engaging much in Istighfar in a similar way like with the servant attaining Taqwa. Sayyidina Abdullah bin Abbas (radhiallahu anho) narrates that Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "The one who (regularly) says Istighfaar, that is, frequently repent to Allah Ta'aala for sins committed, Allah 'Azza Wa-Jalla will open a path from poverty and difficulties. All sorrow and hardship will be removed, and in its place prosperity and contentment granted. One will receive sustenance from unimagined and unexpected sources." Sayyidina Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has said in another Hadith: "The one who seeks forgiveness for Muslim males and females from Allah Ta'aala twenty six or twenty five times every day, Allah Ta'ala will count that person among those whose Du'a is accepted, and through the barakah of whom those on earth gain rizq (sustenance). In one minute, you can say ''Astaghfiru Allaah'' (I seek forgiveness of Allaah) more than 100 times. The virtue of seeking forgiveness is well-known, IT IS A REASON OF OBTAINING FORGIVENESS, ENTERING PARADISE, HAVING GOOD PROVISIONS, INCREASING ONE'S STRENGTH, REPELLING HARM, HAVING AFFAIRS FACILITATED, THE DESCENT OF RAIN, AND INCREASING IN WEALTH AND CHILDREN. Do Tasbih of Astaghfaar as much as you can every time you free. Allah will count you among those whose duas are accepted and Rizq is abundant if you seek forgiveness to all Muslims. Do Tasbih of Astaghfaar 100 times daily as it is also the Sunnah of Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Reciting Astaghfiruallah is an effective method of calming our self and wipes away the variety of worldly worries from our mind and body. It may also help us, if we are suffering from depression, it calm us and lessen our depression. Astaghfirullah also helps us to refrain from all forms of sins. Regularly saying this reminds us that ALLAH IS EVERYWHERE AND IN THIS WAY THERE IS VERY SMALL CHANCES OF DOING WRONGFUL ACTIONS. When you do something wrong, by only reciting Astaghfirullah, we can easily get forgiveness from Allah. WE SHOULD ALSO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS FROM THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH FOR OTHER PEOPLE, IN THIS WAY ALLAH NOT ONLY FORGIVES THEM BUT WE MIGHT EVEN GET REWARD FROM ALLAH.

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 98

The doors of repentance are always open therefore don't delay your repentance in a hope of tomorrow, as tomorrow is uncertain , REPENTnow ..and make it a habit to ask Allah's forgiveness atleast 100 times a day simply by reciting Astaghfirullah ("I seek forgiveness from Allah") , it hardly takes 1 min and please encourage others also In shaa Allah Say i believe in Allah's mercy ..yes i hv sin ..yes i hv gone astray .. yes i hv been negligent .. but still i believe in Allah's soothing mercy and forgiveness ..i'll not despair ! Do lots of Istaghfaar whenever you are stuck and thats the proven way! Do not despair from Allah's mercy no matter how critical a situation may seem When you are really stuck and you say to yourself this is it am gonna quit now ! just pray two rakah and ask Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and beg Allah to guide you if its khair for you to continue it and opens the door for you and if its not khair for you then show you a way out of it in a good way Frequent the saying of Astaghfirullah. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) used to say it 70-100 times a day. Don't only say it because of sin but because IT KEEPS THE HEART PURE AND REMINDS US THAT WE WILL ONE DAY BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL THAT WE DO, AND SHOULD SEEK FORGIVENESS BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. One of the benefits of Istaghfar is increment in Children Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving;'He will send rain to you in abundance;'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). [ Surah Nuh : 10-13 ] In these above verses we find that Hazrat Nuh ( May Allah be pleased with him )is addressing to his people, advising them to ask forgiveness (Istaghfar) and describing them the benefits of it So, make Istaghfar in abundance , and if Allah wills, He will bestow you with righteous children Ameen Summa Ameen This story about "Istighfar" This story

Page 99

about "Istighfar" is from the life of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, who is considered as a renowned scholar of Islam and a famous theologian. During his old age, while Imam Ahmed was travelling he stopped by a town. After the prayers, he wanted to stay for the night in the masjid yard because he didn't know anyone in the town. Owing to his humility, he hadn't introduced himself to anyone thinking that if he did, he would be welcomed by many people. Failing to recognize Ahmed bin Hanbal, the caretaker of the mosque refused to let him stay in the mosque. As Imam Ahmed was quite old, the caretaker had to drag him out of the mosque. On seeing this, a baker from a nearby place felt pity for this man (Imam Ahmed) and offered to be the host to him for the night. During his stay with the baker, Imam Ahmed observed that the baker would constantly recite Istighfar (seeking forgiveness from Allah). Imam Ahmed asked the baker if the constant practice of saying Istighfar had any effect on him. The baker responded by telling Imam Ahmed that Allah had accepted all of his duas (supplications), except one. When he asked him what dua was it that hadn't been accepted, the baker replied that he had been asking Allah to provide him the privilege to meet the famous scholar Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal. On this, Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal said that Allah had not only listened to his dua but had dragged him onto his (the baker's) doorsteps. Truly I am in need of whatever good You bestow on me [ Surah Al-Qasas ,verse 24 ] This dua was made by Prophet Musa(peace be upon him) Allah [subhanahu wa tala] blessed him with everything that he needed when he made this dua. This dua was made by Musa [may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ] , when he was threatened by the people of firaun..and he did not have any place to hide , and was at his extreme desperation ..just after reciting this dua , Hazrat Musa [may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ] saw two beautiful girls..he helped the girls water the sheep..and later their father offered him a job and his daughter too in marriage. Everyone you meet here is a soldier fighting his own battle..everyones shoulder is burdened with grief..some are worried about jobs, marriages ,broken family, and some are burdened with everything...but Allah has given a way out of each difficulty, we just have to put our Trust in Him! Story behind the Du'a: Once upon a time Moosa Alaihi salaam was threatened to be killed by the people of firaun bcuz he killed someone unknowingly,by mistake..and he did not have any place to hide ,no money to feed himself and was at his extreme desperation ..just after that he recited "Rabbi innee limaa anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer" [O my Lord ! Truly I am in need of whatever good You bestow on me][ Surah Al-Qasas

Message of the Day: FARD, SUNNAH, MUSTAHABBAT AND MAKRUHAT IN WUDU

care@easyibaadat.info

FARD, SUNNAH, MUSTAHABBAT AND MAKRUHAT IN WUDU Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Are we doing our Wuzu (Ablutions) properly? It is imperative to do wuzu before performing the Salaat (Prayer) so we must do it with utmost care. The points presented below will In sha Allah help us and correct us in case if we were going wrong. The compulsory actions or Fard in Wudu (Ablution) are as follows: 1) Washing the face from hair of the forehead to the lower portion of the chin; and across from one ear to the other 2) Washing both hands and arms upto the elbows 3) Performing the Masa'h (wiping with wet hands, one fourth of one's head) 4) Washing both the feet upto the ankles There are total 13 Sunnah actions in Ablution. These are: 1) Saying the Intention (Niyyah) 2) Reciting 'Bismillah' 3) Washing the hands, three times, upto the wrists 4) Brushing teeth with a tooth-stick (Miswak) 5) Rinsing the mouth, thrice 6) Sniffing water into the nostrils, thrice, 7) Combing (doing Khilal) the beard with the fingers 8) Passing fingers of both hands, against each other, and also passing them through the toes (Khilal of fingers and toes) 9) Washing, each limb, three times 10) Performing the Masa'h once over the whole head 11) Performing the Masa'h of the two ear 12) Performing Ablution (Wudu) in proper order 13) Washing each part, one after the other, without pause, to ensure that no part dries up before the next step.

Page 108

In addition to Fard and Sunnah there are some other desirable actions (Mustahabbat) in Wudu. These are: 1) To begin Ablution (Wudu) from the right side. Some scholars regard this among the Masnun (Sunnah) acts. This is quite likely. 2) Performing 'Masa'h' of the nape. 3) Performing Ablution all by himself, without taking other's help. 4) Facing Qiblah. 5) Performing Ablution while sitting at a clean and elevated place. Some things that are not considered as desirable in Wudu are known as Makruhat. These are: 1) Performing Ablution at a dirty place 2) Blowing one's nose with the right hand 3) Talking worldly affairs while performing Ablution 4) Performing Ablution in a manner contrary to Sunnah Please keep these points in mind when doing Wudu in a Masjid: * Do not talk with your friends or any person sitting next to you while doing Wuzu. This is first of all disliked and Makruh as written above, and secondly this also disturbs the other persons who are sitting closeby and doing the wuzu. * Please do not splash the water in such a way that it lands up on the other person. This is a very common mistake i often see brothers making. People splash water without considering whether this makes the other person sitting next to them wet or not. * Another common thing I see in Masiids is that people waste a lot of water. People run the tap with full force. This not only wastes water but also when people put their hands or feet in such high amount of running water, it splashes and falls on the person sitting next to them. Please save water- Run the tap at a slower pace! In this way you will save a lot of water and besides this water can be beneficial at the times of difficulty when the Masjids have lesser water and hence, the water which you save can help some other brother do his Wazu.

Page 109

4. Please cover your Sattar while bending down. This Friday I went to a Masjid and I saw one of the brother doing Wazu. He was bending so much with his short shirt and low waist pants that it exposed his Sattar and whatever else which should be hidden! Brothers behind him were staring at that !! So please make sure your Sattar is covered when you are doing Wazu. Please wear a long shirt or a Kurta or if you are wearing a short shirt please pull it down and tie it with your pants or belt so that no one can see your sattar from behind. Even in the Namaaz do not expose your Sattar..Believe me, its a distraction and you also land up becoming a laughing stock! 5. If there is a pool/tank from which you are doing Wazu, please do not rinse your nose in it or put your feet in it, this would dirty the water of the pool through which other people are doing their wazu. Just be a little careful to let the pool water be clean and safe for others to use. 6. Do not dirty the place by throwing food or empty packets of food/ pan masala etc or carry mud. And if possible, please clean the place or pick up unwanted things from there. With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: The beautiful cups .. (short story)

care@easyibaadat.info

The beautiful cups .. (short story) Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Today's message will be in the form of a short story for all those people who are so stressed up with their work or lives. A group of college students met after a couple of years in a Alumni meeting. Most of them had settled in their lives. Some had got good jobs, some were married, some had children already and their lives were completely different as to what it was in their college days. They met their Lecturer too who was a wise old man. He invited them to his house and these young men obliged. When they entered his house, the young men started talking about their lives and soon this discussion turned into complaints, problems about stress in work and life. The Lecturer just smiled and went to the kitchen to get an assortment of cups - some porcelain, some in plastic, some in glass, some plain looking and some looked rather expensive and exquisite. The Lecturer offered his former students the cups to get drinks for themselves. When all the students had a cup in hand with water, the Lecturer spoke: "If you noticed, all the nice looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal that you only want the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. What all you wanted was water, not the cup, but we unconsciously went for the better cups." "Just like in life, if Life is Water, then the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold/maintain Life, but the quality of Life doesn't change." "If we only concentrate on the cup, we won't have time to enjoy, taste and appreciate the water in it." The lecturer continued his advice and said: "According to Noble Qur'an, the Sources of our problems are three:

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 112

WE STRAIN OUR EYES IN LONGING FOR THE THINGS WHICH OTHER PEOPLE HAVE, AND FORGET OUR OWN BOUNTIES GIVEN BY ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA AND FORGET TO ENJOY THEM. In the Noble Qur'an Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says: (20:131) Nor strain your eyes in longing for the things We have given for enjoyment to parties of them, the splendor of the life of this world, through which We test them: but the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring. WE COMPLAIN SO MUCH ABOUT TRIVIAL PAINS AND PROBLEMS WE FACE IN THIS WORLD, WHILE FORGET THE ACTUAL SUFFERING WE MAY FACE IN THE HEREAFTER DUE TO OUR WRONGDOINGS AND NEGLIGENCE. WE ALSO FORGET TO REALIZE THAT ACTUAL PLEASURE IS IN FULFILLING OUR DUTY TO EASE THE SUFFERINGS OF PEOPLE AROUND US. In Noble Qur'an Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says: (20:127) And thus do We recompense him who transgresses beyond bounds and believes not in the Signs of his Lord: and the Penalty of the Hereafter is far more grievous and more enduring. WE ARE SO MUCH AFTER THE CONVENIENCES AND GLITTER OF THIS WORLD THAT WE FORGET THE CORE PURPOSE OF OUR LIFE; WHICH IS A TEST WITH FULL OF SUFFERINGS IN ORDER TO OBTAIN REWARD OF PARADISE FROM OUR LORD IN THE HEREAFTER. In Noble Qur'an Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says: (28:60) The (material) things which you are given are but the conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah is better and more enduring: will you not then be wise? We take the life in the world as permanent and spend all our sources just building it as if death is for 'somebody else and not me', while we forget the fact that eternal life is that of Hereafter. (87:17) But the Hereafter is better and more enduring. Let us stop complaining and enjoy and appreciate our life which is an investment for a blissful eternal life in the Hereafter. Once Imam Ali (as) was asked: "If choice given, what would you prefer: life in this world or death?" Imam Ali (as) surprised the man by replying: "I will select life in this world because through it I will be able to earn the pleasure of my Lord".

So dear friends, let us make this life an opportunity to serve our Lord Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala in the best of the ways and always appreciate and thank Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala for the favours He has bestowed on you. Instead of complaining, let us thank Him for His endless blessings - ALHUMDULILLAHI RABBIL AALAMEEN. With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: Reward for Learning the Qur'an

care@easyibaadat.info

Reward for Learning the Qur'an Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Memorizing the Holy Qur'an is one of the most important ways to preserve Allah's message. The others are to publish and distribute the book, or the text on the Internet and to recite the parts that one knows to other people. Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'THE BEST AMONGST YOU IS THE ONE WHO LEARNS THE QUR'AN AND TEACHES IT.' (NARRATED BY AL-BUKHARI). Actually, most important of all is to live by the message it contains, so as to be a good example to others. Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), when asked to describe the character of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) described it as 'the Qur'an'. The reward for remembering the message it contains, living by its guidance, and passing it on to others, is great: "We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you, in the floating (Ark), That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. " Surah 69 Verses 11 - 12 It is Allah who helps people memorize the Qur'an, as he said to the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) By degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget, Except as God wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden. And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path). Therefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer).

Page 116

Surah 87 Verses 6 - 9 In the Qur'an, Allah criticizes those of the People of the Book who forget a good part of the message that was sent them ,: But because of their breach of their covenant, We cursed them, and made their hearts grow hard; they change the words from their (right) places and forget a good part of the message that was sent them, nor wilt thou cease to find them- barring a few - ever bent on (new) deceits: but forgive them, and overlook (their misdeeds): for God loveth those who are kind. Surah 5 Verse 13 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala frequently calls the Qur'an aldhikr, which is usually translated as a 'reminding'. Also, the quality of a true Muslim is taqwa, which is consciousness and awareness of God. Therefore, the Qur'an reminds those who read and recite it of Allah, His gifts and His commands, so that they stay on the right path, follow His guidance on how to live the best way in this world and for the Hereafter, and do not stray or get distracted by the life of this world. There are some people in this world, who would like nothing better than that Muslims should forget the message, and that no one else should get to hear about it. In the Muslim lands of the former USSR, for example, mosques, scholars and books were all destroyed systematically to exterminate the message of Islam. Those Muslims who forgot the message and were intimidated or even convinced by the communists began to live like them, drinking alcohol and indulging in many of the other practices the Qur'an forbids, so that they became distinguishable only by their Muslim names. Nonetheless, even in the absence of books, those who had memorized the Qur'an were still able to pass on the message and the guidance it contains to some of their children and other people. In this way Islam has survived even in these places. This is why people who memorize the Qur'an are known as the protectors of the Qur'an. In the light of all this, memorizing the Qur'an helps remind the one who does it, and others to whom he passes it on, of the message and commands of Allah, in its original Arabic words, so this in itself should help him towards a reward in al-Jannah (paradise). The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'Such a person as recites the Qur'an and masters it by heart, will be with the noble righteous scribes

www.easyibaadat.info

Page 117

(in Heaven). And such a person as exerts himself to learn the Qur'an by heart, and recites it with great difficulty, will have a double reward.' (Narrated by Al-Bukhari) He may also gain rewards like that of those he has 'reminded' to stay on the right path, in the same way as the person mentioned in this hadith: Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam) said: 'He who introduces some good practice in Islam, which is followed after him (by people), will be assured of a reward like those who followed it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect.' (Narrated by Muslim) With Best Wishes EasyIbaadat.info _If you don't live for Allah, you will die for Nothing..._

Message of the Day: 8 Things Which Strengthen The Marriage

care@easyibaadat.info

8 Things Which Strengthen The Marriage Dear Members, As Salaamu Alaikum wa Rehmatullahi wa Barakatahu _ALL PRAISES AND THANKS TO ALLAH, LORD OF THE WORLDS!!_ Today's email is very special. It is for all the newly married brothers and sisters. Presentling below 8 things which will strengthen your marriage, In Sha Allah. 1) Good Attitude A Muslim must always have a positive attitude toward life. We say, "Al Hamdulillah" (Praise be to Allah) for whatever He gives us (or doesn't give us). 2) Help - Our Prophet, Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, stressed the importance of men helping their wives and Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala tells us the importance of women being mates and helpers to their husbands. This is a real "win-win" situation, if we just follow it. 3) Trust - Muslims, men and women are ordered to be trustworthy and follow the example of our Prophet,Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, as the "Trustworthy". 4) Respect - You get respect, when you give respect. This is mandatory for all Muslims toward all people, how much more toward the spouse? 5) Joy - Our Prophet, Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, used to entertain his wife, Ayesha RA and she used to play and race with him. She said, "I used to out-run him, but then when I got heavy he used to outrun me". He told us to play with our wives. 6) Forgiveness Clearly, this is one of the most important aspects of Islam. Whoever does not forgive - will not be forgiven. This comes from Allah, Himself. We must learn to forgive each other's mistakes so we won't it against us. 7) Time - Spend time, alone - together. Go for walks. Take a bus ride. Visit a friend or someone who is ill (you get big rewards for that). Fast together on Mondays & Thursdays if you can. if possible Make hajj together- this is a great way to get a "new start" on life. 8)

Page 120

Worship - connection with Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala through ritual of prayer, petition and peace while moving together in the salat is something a non-Muslim can never really appreciate. Our Prophet, Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam used to lead his wife in salat, even though he lived connected to the mosque. He told us not to make our homes like grave yards. We should offer some of our sunnah prayers at home. A sister gains the most rewards at home, in her room, behind a screen.
