Attend High Court Discussion of RHRs Landmark Petition on Planning in Area C Participate in the Palestinian Olive Harvest Meet with Bedouin, African Refugees, Palestinian Officials, Settlers, Israeli Activists and Young People Making a Difference Study Torah with RHR Rabbis and Educational Staff, Including Programs You Can Take Home To Your Communities Experience the Realities on the Ground in the West Bank, East Jerusalem, Negev, South Tel Aviv, Hadera and Beit Shean SEE REVERSE SIDE FOR TENTATIVE SCHEDULE RHR has been awarded the Speaker of the Knessets Prize for our contributions to Israeli society, and endorsed by rabbinic bodies around the world. Our membership includes rabbis from almost all streams of Judaism. We believe that it is possible for Israel to live up to our highest Jewish values, as expressed in our Declaration of Independence, and that it is our obligation to do our utmost to make this vision a reality. Join us for 8 days of touring, experiencing and Torah study that will challenge and inspire. When I signed up for the RHR tour, I was afraid that confronting Israels human rights challenges would leave me alienated. But, I actually am leaving inspired by the people I have met. I am more hopeful, more committed to Israel, and more determined to work for a better Israel.

Tentative Schedule
Tuesday, October 1st Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport and welcoming dinner in Jerusalem. Wednesday, October 2nd Travel to the Negev to learn about the current struggle of the unrecognized Bedouin villages to save their communities. Meet amazing young people in RHR educational programs, who are trying to make a difference. Thursday, October 3rd You will be right there in the courtroom as the judges hear arguments on RHRs landmark High Court petition to return planning in Area C to Palestinian hands. Afterwards, we will study Jewish sources on walls and barriers, tour East Jerusalem and meet Palestinian activists. Dinner with the students of RHRs human rights yeshiva, followed by a panel on models of Jewish activism in Israel. Friday, October 4th We will experience the unique culture of the Palestinian cave dwellers of the South Hebron Hills, visiting communities in danger of demolition or expulsion, and an entire village where RHRs legal team returned Palestinians to their homes after ten years. We will visit some of the villages that are a part of RHRs landmark High Court petition we heard yesterday. Return in time to prepare for Shabbat, with an option to participate in the weekly demonstration in Sheikh Jarakh. Kabbalat Shabbat in one of Jerusalems many synagogues, followed by Shabbat dinner in the homes of RHR rabbis. Shabbat, October 5th Free day. Afternoon study session on Masekhet

Atzmaut, RHRs Talmudic style commentary on Israels Declaration of Independence that is one of RHRs main teaching tools when working with Israeli youth. The English version has been used in many synagogues and Hillels abroad, and we now have a middle school syllabus developed with the San FranciscoBureau of Jewish Education. Sunday, October 6th Travel to South Tel Aviv in order to learn about the challenges facing both African refugees and veteran residents. Free time in either Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Evening program with activists from the Maabarah and the Public Housing Forum. Monday, October 7th We will venture into Israels periphery, to experience and understand Israeli poverty. A day with RHRs socioeconomic justice staff in our Hadera rights center. Evening in Beit Shean, with RHRs award winning housing advocacy program. Tuesday, October 8th Meetings with PA and Palestinian Civil Society in Ramallah, Visit to Settlement. Free time back in Jerusalem. Wednesday, October 9th Our final day will include a hands on opportunity to participate in the olive harvest with Palestinian farmers and Israeli volunteers. We will tour hot spots of conflict between farmers and settlements. Concluding dinner and discussion.
