Sports Massage & Complementary Methods (RMT)

Learn specific treatments for stages of injury, for various physical activities. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Advanced Techniques 1-8 Mondays 8:30 10:30am April 1 to June 17

Myology 2 (RMT/TCM)
An in-depth study of the torso muscles. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Myology 1 Mondays 8:30am 10:30am April 1 to June 17
Business Skills (All)

Learn the components and aspects involved in the start-up and operation of a health care clinic or home business. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Mondays 10:30am - 12:30pm April 1 to June 17
Neuroscience 2 (RMT/TCM)
An in-depth examination of the sensory division of the nervous system. (24 hrs 1 credit) Pre-requisite: Neuroscience 1 Mondays 10:30am - 12:30pm April 1 to June 17
Research 2 (IAM/TCMAdv.)
Students are guided through the creation of their own research paper. (24 hrs) Pre-requisite: Research 1 Mondays 10:30am 12:30pm Check with the administration office for commencement and class dates.
Senior Needling Lab (TCM)

Senior students evolve their needling skills via this primarily hands-on course. Students are guided by faculty, to needle numerous combinations of acupuncture points. (24 hrs 1 unit) Pre-requisites: Point Location 1, 2 & TCM Diagnosis (or in progress) Mondays 1:15 5:15pm March 25 April 8, 22 May 6, 27 June 10

A study of TCM patterns and treatments for sexually transmitted diseases, proctology disorders and external skin disorders such as herpes, alopecia, lyme disease and scleroderma. (24 hrs 1 credit) Pre-requisite: TCM Diagnosis/Assessment Mondays 6:00pm 8:00pm April 1 to June 17

Principles of Treatments/Advanced Techniques 5-8 (RMT)

Learn to treat a variety of chronic conditions using massage therapy. (96 hrs 4 units) Pre-requisite: Principles of Treatments/Advanced Techniques 4 Mondays 1:15pm 5:15pm & Thursdays 8:30am 12:30pm April 1 to June 20

Massage Techniques 1-4 (NHSc/RMT/SPA)

Learn the basics of massage, including draping and positioning, and develop a routine for a general full body massage treatment. (96 hrs 4 units) No pre-requisite Mondays & Thursdays 1:15pm 5:15pm April 1 to June 20

Remedial Exercise 1 (RMT)
The theory and practice of remedial exercise assessment, plan development, implementation and evaluation. Range of motion and stretching is also presented. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Advanced Techniques 1-4 & Myology 1 Tuesdays 8:30 -10:30am April 2 to June 18
Integrative Studies (All)

Interesting series of lectures by skilled practitioners in the healing arts & sciences. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Tuesdays 8:30 -10:30am April 2 to June 18
Pathology 4 (RMT/TCM)
An in-depth study of muscle-related diseases. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Pathology 1 Tuesdays 10:30am 12:30pm April 2 to June 18
Remedial Exercise 3 (RMT)

Students continue to evolve their knowledge of stretching and exercise. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Remedial Exercise 2 Tuesdays 10:30am 12:30pm April 2 to June 18

Begin the study of the structural effects of disease on body systems & organs, at the tissue & cellular level. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Anatomy/Physiology 1 (or in progress) Tuesdays 1:15pm - 3:15pm April 2 to June 18

Law & Regulations (RMT)

A study of provincial and federal law, as it applies to registered massage therapists. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Tuesdays 3:15pm 5:15pm April 2 to June 18

Point Location 1 (TCM)

Students learn the location of approximately 50% of the bodys acupuncture points. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Tuesdays 8:00pm - 10:00pm April 9 to June 25

A continuation of the regional assessment of the human body. (48 hrs 2 units) Pre-requisite: Client Assessment 3 Tuesdays & Wednesdays 1:15 3:15pm April 2 to June 19

A deeper study of energy formation in the cell, the nervous system and metabolism. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Physiology 5 Wednesdays 8:30 10:30am April 3 to June 19
Modern Physical Diseases (TCM)

Learn acupuncture/acupressure & Chinese herbal treatments for modern disorders such as Carpal Tunnel, TMJ, IBS, Herpes and more. (24 hrs) Pre-requisite: TCM Diagnosis Wednesdays 8:30 -10:30am April 3 to June 19
Point Combinations 1 (TCM)

Learn how the individual acupuncture points can be combined to treat many disorders. (24 hrs 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Acupuncture Point Location 1, 2 & TCM Diagnosis Wednesdays 10:30am 12:30pm April 3 to June 19

Anatomy 6 (RMT/TCM)
A study of the major joints and ligaments of the human body. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Anatomy 5 Wednesdays 10:30am 12:30pm April 3 to June 19
Physiology 7 (TCM/RMT)
Students continue to study the finer aspects of the nervous system. This course also takes an in-depth look into the muscular system, including a study of skeletal and smooth muscle, and the cardiovascular system. (24 hrs - 1 unit) Pre-requisite: Physiology 6 Wednesdays 10:30am 12:30pm April 3 to June 19
Communications & the Healthcare Professional (ALL)

Learn the key characteristics for day-to-day communications with clients and understand the personal and client needs. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Wednesdays 10:30am - 12:30pm April 3 to June 19
Off-Sites (IAM)
Practice massage skills, acquired in-class, in a variety of public settings. Some off-sites are available for other therapists please enquire. (48 hrs 2 units) Pre-requisite: Massage 4 & Anatomy/Physiology 4 Wednesdays 1:15pm 5:15pm April 3 to June 19
Client Assessment 1 (RMT)

An introduction to clinical assessment including case histories, client-interview, as well as both visual and physical examination techniques. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite Wednesdays 3:15 5:15pm April 3 to June 19

This dynamic ride of your life course guides you towards taking a positive approach to daily food requirements. Evolve your understanding of pH balance, food and non-fanatical healthy living. The teacher has been honored with international awards and is presently nominated as a top health educator in Canada and was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal. Acupuncture Without Needles (NHSc/TCM/All)

Learn acupuncture point stimulation methods, that do not puncture the skin. Methods include various techniques. (12 hrs unit) Pre-requisite: Point Location 1 & 2 Saturdays 9:00am 4:00pm April 13, 20
Cranio-Sacral Therapy (NHSc)

Students will be introduced to the structure and function of the cranio-sacral system. Learn how to palpate the cerebrospinal fluid movement within that system, to assess and treat, using the 10-step protocol developed by Dr. John Upledger. (24 hours 1 unit) No pre-requisite April 13, 14, 27, 28
Massage 1 (NHSc/RMT/SPA)
Introduction to basic theory & practice of body massage. (24 hrs - 1 unit) No pre-requisite April 13, 14, 20, 21
Herb Walk (NHSc)

Identify and learn the uses of common local herbs. Bring good walking shoes & explore a nearby lake area. At noon, return to the Academy for a pot-luck lunch. Then discuss your discoveries. Come and enjoy! (5 hrs) No pre-requisite Saturday 10:00am to 3:00pm Fee $35 per person April 27
