These are idea generation, evaluation and choice. Idea Generation: Product ideas or investment opportunities come from different sources such as business/financial newspapers, research institutes, consulting firms, natural resources, universities, competitors etc.The starting point for idea generation could be a simple analysis of the businesss strengths and weakness. Q3. Define Job Design. How Management has viewed Job Design since the Industrial Revolution. Ans : Job design refers to the way that a set of tasks, or an entire job, is organized. Job design helps to determine: what tasks are done, how the tasks are done, how many tasks are done, and in what order the tasks are done. It takes into account all factors which affect the work, and organizes the content and tasks so that the whole job is less likely to be a risk to the employee. Job design involves administrative areas such as: job rotation, job enlargement, task/machine pacing, work breaks, and working hours.

Ans : Batch production is done when a product is made in different varieties and the volume is less. This system works well for smaller facilities. The product is produced in smaller quantities but in different variants. The facility layout is designed keeping in mind the volume, flow and variety of the product. In batch production there is continuous demand for the product. FEATURES OF BATCH PRODUCTION In this type of production, a process layout is required. Ans : a) Work Sampling : Work sampling is the statistical technique for determining the proportion of time spent by workers in various defined categories of activity (e.g. setting up a machine, assembling two parts, idleetc.).It is as important as all other statistical techniques because it permits quick analysis, recognition, and enhancement of job responsibilities, tasks, performance competencies, and organizational work flows. Other names used for it are 'activity sampling', 'occurrence sampling', and 'ratio delay study'.
