These three are the final designs for my magazine cover.

This one is my personal favourite but it contradicts the ideology that the magazine and cd covers should have different pictures/designs. In all of the designs I have used the same text because it has a free and hand written aspect to it. The free nature of the text is representative of the freeness of folk music. Folk music is open and organic due to the traditional and original instruments used with the free and open genre codes like farms, fields and wide spaces. I believe it is key and crucial to include newspaper quotes that express the quality and originality of the songs. This design includes the artist singing and also expresses the passion and feeling within the song that reflects the emotions evoked when listening to it. The black and white nature of the design also reflects the within the song and the cross relation between happy and sad.

This album cover is one that inspired my work. The bold nature of the sky works well with the field/dunes. The vibrant coloration of the grass works perfectly with the bold and expressive clouds. This picture would work perfectly in black and white as the dark and light areas within the clouds express all the feelings and emotions that are evoked within the song.

This is my second favourite design as it reflects in my opinion the main genre convention of folk, fields and open spaces. The free nature and openness of this particular image reflects the original and organic sounds created within the genre. I believe that black and white is key within my designs because it imitates the deep and meaningful emotions of the song. It also represents the thin line between the happy and sad parts to the song. The quote 'every cloud has a silver lining' is something I have attempted to include within my designs because it represents the moving on and accepting what is within the song. I have chosen pictures I have taken that have strong clouds and the capacity when black and white still portray strong emotions and feelings.

This is another CD cover designs that inspired my CD and magazine designs. It is a perfect example of an image which shows a perfect relationship between the sky and the foreground. This picture would work very well in black and white because it has the ideal light and dark areas that allow for the corresponding relationship to work.

This picture has many of the genre conventions and aspects that I want on my magazine cover. It has the perfect flour alignment that reflects the meaning within the song And the perfect relationship with black and white. The only aspect that makes this design less usable than the others is because it has the urban aspect of the buildings. It is a perfect picture for a more urban and hip-hop/ pop genre. Compared to my other designs this is the darkest and has the most aesthetically pleasing aspect. The perfect space between the alignment of the park and the clouds makes this picture far more appealing because it has an evenly balanced expression.

This album cover shows the impressive and perfect way black and white photography works well on a album/cd cover
