Lean computing methods such as task bin management were sampled to keep GUI design task turnaround time low. 2005 As a subcontractor to Ultra Consulitng, IL conducted lean site audit for a high variety, low volume sewing manufacturer, Juki Holdings, Huntley, IL in preparation for a comprehensive ERP / business system upgrade. Utilized multi-route capacity-driven kanbans (Quick Response POLCAs) to limit buildup of particular part skus that lack demand. Facility was on pace to reduce finished goods and work in process inventory by 20%. Project concluded with tentative selection of vendor software (INFOR Syteline, BAAN, AX, Apriso APS among candidates). 2003-04 Conducted Six Sigma Green Belt training and mentoring for Stanadyne, a Tier-1 automotive component manufacturer at two east coast flagship plants; created plan for implementation of specific process improvements

Analyzed practices of five key production lines and recommended measures that, once implemented, resulted in the retention and expansion of business with Daimler-Chrysler. Program managed four cluster teams on 13 projects involving elimination of variation in tappet body and piston fabrication and simplification of prep and finishing steps in hydraulic valve machining. Conducted solo jidoka and poke yoke defect reduction on four lines, leading to 18% reduction in rework. 2003 For Nightengale-Conant, a self-help training kit supplier, reduced order fulfillment time for special promotions. 2002 Project managed start-up operations for a software firm, Finna Tech that developed laboratory software information systems (LIMS) and helped them secure several key pilot accounts including Abbott Laboratories and Safety-Kleen Co-authored specifications for large active drug screening lab and created application notes for metal and food testing labs. 2001 Performed W-2 based paper industry consulting for Greycon Software Ltd (UK) in Brazil, the UK, and US. Recruited and managed some fifty different subcontracting resources in manufacturing software, IT, marketing, industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, quality, and logistics. Applied production scheduling and batch reduction principals and methods (pull techniques and scheduling heuristics) to a food industry service laboratory seeking to reduce delays and improve throughput (Silliker Labs) resulting in 10% revenue boost and account retention. Scope included both sample delivery vehicle routes and lab sample flows and queues. A night shift reduction in 40% of overtime was projected once procedures were stabilized. Directed and managed multi-faceted project for fish packing at Vita Foods, encompassing the implementation of lean, quality improvements and HACCP compliance; reduced costs associated with compliance and city waste water assessments, clean up, and consumption by $280,000 annually. Arbitrated disputes between public and private sector subcontracting bodies. Conducted and managed ERP software selection projects for Kay Manufacturing, IL, a Tier-2 supplier of transmission hubs and gearing for GM, Northstar, and other OEMs. Selected system, ROI, aided in reducing work in process inventories by 15% and exercising control over maintenance and MRO parts replenishment. Emphasis was on pre-internet EDI optimization and communications. Built and led action teams of 8 to10 comprised of IBM sales and systems engineers and client department heads. Set up pilot program for Brach Candy food processing plant that analyzed ingredient consumption with a combined MRP and MES system (PRISM and POMS) for accurate work-in-process reporting and production costing enabling them to implement efficiencies that saved more that $180,000 per year for duration of the plant operation (1990 2004). Collaborated with IBMs industrial products support center in construction of a pilot demonstration system for the food batch process industry that resulted in multiple trial sales for clients in northeast Illinois.
