1. Define Literature. Explain it.

Literature is the art of written or spoken works. It uses beautiful, meaningful and expressive language. Literature is an expression of thoughts, feelings and imagination through language. It represents the art of one persons mind through various abstracts and concretive ideas translated to beautiful language that produces different representations and meanings according to the developer and his readers. Readers and listeners of this literary works may interpret the authors ideas into them and applying them into their lives. It is also the process of encoding ones beautiful ideas and decoding by interpreters imaginative mind. Events or subjects shown in these works are that of the authors experiences, environment, culture or just a pure imagination.

2. State the classification of prose.


Prose is a continual narration and written in common sentence trend. It is the most typical form of written language that uses basic and ordinary grammatical structure with natural flow of sentences or speech. There are different classifications of a prose. Myth is a story or narrative about the origin of the universe, beliefs about the gods and goddesses, stories about man and mystical and mysterious beings. Legend is a narrative or tale of human actions that orally resurfaced version of ordinary source of things. An anecdote is a short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person. Essay is written piece that often come from authors personal point of view. Biography is a narrative about the life of a person. Fable is a story about talking animals that leaves a good moral to readers. Parable is a narrative about the holy bible that intends to uplift moral and spiritual insights. Drama is a narrative story performed in the stage. Usually a short story focuses on one incident; has a single plot, a single setting, and a small number of characters; and covers a short period of time. Speech is a narrative written to be spoken. News is the statement of current events. Novel is a narrative with many characters, scenes and separated by chapters.

3. State the classification of poetry.


Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, its apparent meaning. Poetry may be written independently, as discrete poems, or may occur in conjunction with other arts, as in poetic drama, hymns, lyrics, or prose poetry. A riddle is a statement or question or phrase having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved. A slogan is a memorable motto or phrase used in a political, commercial, religious and other

context as a repetitive expression of an idea or purpose. An epic is a lengthy narrative poem, ordinarily concerning a serious subject containing details of heroic deeds and events significant to a culture or nation. Lyric poetry is a form of poetry that expresses personal and emotional feelings. A eulogy is a speech or writing in praise of a person or thing, especially one recently deceased or retired. Sonnet was a poem of fourteen lines following a set rhyme scheme and logical structure. Ode is a type of lyrical verse. Haiku is a very short form of Japanese poetry composed of 17 syllables and 3 verses.
