Submitted By: Harpal Singh B090020146

Responsibilities
The Project has been divided into the following segments:

1. Research work. 2. Library and Internet Search. 3. Assembling the Data. 4. Prototype Development. 5. Source Code Development.

Statement about the Problem

The continuous increasing demand of the food requires the rapid improvement in food production technology. In a country like India, where the economy is mainly based on agriculture and the climatic conditions are isotropic, still we are not able to make full use of agricultural resources. The main reason is the lack of rains & scarcity of land reservoir water. The continuous extraction of water from earth is reducing the water level due to which lot of land is coming slowly in the zones of un-irrigated land. Another very important reason of this is due to unplanned use of water due to which a significant amount of water goes waste.

Why the particular topic?

India is an agrarian economy and over 60% of the people are dependent on agriculture for their income. India is the largest producer of food grains in the world. At the present era, the farmers have been using irrigation technique in India through the manual control in which the farmers irrigate the land at the regular intervals. This process sometimes consumes more water or sometimes the water reaches late due to which the crops get dried. Water deficiency can be detrimental to plants before visible wilting occurs. Slowed growth rate, lighter weight fruit follows slight water deficiency. This problem can be perfectly rectified if we use DTMF based automatic irrigation system in which the irrigation will take place only when the farmer will switch on the system by sending an SMS from his mobile device and on intense requirement of water, fields will get irrigated and the farmer can switch off the system after some time. Automatic Irrigation is a valuable tool for accurate soil moisture control in highly specialized greenhouse vegetable production and it is a simple, precise method for irrigation. It also helps in time saving, removal of human error in adjusting available soil moisture levels and to maximize their net profits.

Objective and Scope

The basic idea of creating such a model is to gain knowledge about Microcontrollers, ADC, DTMF and embedded programming. Not to forget, the emphasis of using an Eco Friendly, reliable and less hectic way of irrigation. By making this project a Sense of Responsibility for the Mankind and Nation will be tried to be generated.

Methodology
Certain steps will be followed: -Model Concept: Creating a plan. A simple basic layout of the system will be planned, starting with the different blocks involved in working of the project. -Circuit Development: A circuit representing the connection of various components of the model to be represented. -Model Development: Assembling the components according to the circuit layout. -Source Code: A source code to make the device functional according to our needs.

Hardware to be Used
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Circuit Board. AT89S52 Microcontroller. Analog to Digital Converter. DTMF . GSR Stripes. DC Motor. LCD.

Software to be used
The following WILL be used: 1. Keil vision

What Contribution Will the Project Make

- This project will help in improving farm output. - This will help in water conservation. Reduce the chance of plant disease by keeping foliage dry. - This is very useful in all climatic conditions and it is eco friendly. - Reduce soil erosion and nutrient leaching.
