INDIA YOUTH & POLITICS

To judge the modern face of youth and politics in India is just like to kill the queen and king of chess in just one move. In the 6 decades of politics in India, the politics is generated in such a way like Jawaharlal Nehru to various political parties that they take place by families or regions. From Nehru to Lal Krishna Advani, all the political pawns are Old persons who controls the rudder of Indian politics or various parties. They are always enticing to endure the political power till their last breath. From the grandson of Gandhi family Rahul Joshi, the campaign of bringing youths in politics has been started. It needs the political background or political support to enter in the Indian politics. The evidence is the Central Cabinet Young Ministers Sachin Pilot, Navin Jindal, Supriya Sule, but reality is that they have political support. The main question is that, can a young person with only political support join the politics? And if he/she joins politics without support, then will he/she able to get in the party or get any rank? It is necessary to note our neighbor country Pakistan here. Pakistani 34 years old Heena Rabbani is the youngest Foreign Minister of Pakistan since ever now. Recently the vote-battle at Uttarpradesh is at maximum level. And the conflict between Rahul Gandhi and SP party leader Mulayamsinhs son Akhilesh Yadav is rising day by day. With this we can conclude that axel of two national parties are in the hands of two young leaders. Akhilesh Yadav is promoting his Samajvadi Party in Uttarpradesh. Congress the biggest political party of India is considering inexperienced Rahul Gandhi as future Prime Minister of India. With this we can conclude the relation of Youth & Politics very deep and positive. It is strange for the youth to be aware from communalism, Hinduism,

Jurisdiction. And of course it is strange that any young personal will have to lead the party or any political position and also that whether they will able to make it or not! If the Youth of Country decides to be motivated politically through the cricket, then it is an encouraging sign for our country and youths. The highest wealth of youths is available in India. The Political leaders inherit their positions to their children or family members. And they get significant position in the politics; recently son of Ajitsinh, Jayant is in politics from Mathura. While Gopalji son of Lalji Tandan the supreme leader of BJP is in politics from UP. With this the two intensions become clear, the first one is to inherit the political heritage and second one is to grant the political positions. Now, we will see that weather Rahul Gandhi would succeed in promoting his party in UP or not! And the main one is to decide that whether the rigid youth generation of India will change their mind and do something creative in politics or not!

Youth in Indian politics

Independence Day in TVSMHSS, during which the cause of youth in Indian Politics was strongly stressed with means of a Skit. Many kind of initiatives are taken in many schools to develop the interest among students to enter Indian politics. The Field of politics is usually a perception that it is not suited to Educated People[1] and this perception is being changed by many school students who take up the idea of politics as their career and help promoting the cause. These kind of student groups inspire many students to choose politics as their career option.[citation needed]

Importance of Youth in Indian politics In October 2012, a group of 5 teenagers started a new political party in Trichy at Tamil Nadu ( not to contest elections ) they framed new sets of rules and laws which they think will take INDIA to a bright and sophisticated path . Their website - Teens In Politics In 2004, 50% of the Indian population was aged 30 years or younger; however, only 35 out of 543 Lok Sabha members (6%) were aged under 35.[1] Nevertheless, a World Values Survey conducted by the World Bank showed that the proportion of people aged 1824 who identified themselves as "very" or "rather" interested in politics was around 50%, an increase of 15% since 1990.[2] Bharat Uday Mission is one outfit of IITians who are planning to enter in politics at a certain point of time. These aren't sufficient enough to change the trend of present political situation in India. Many such ideologies have to be developed right from the schooling and certain schools have taken this initiative like TVSMHSS, Madurai and Alpha Group of Institutions Trichy.[citation needed] All major political parties have youth and student wings, such as Indian Youth Congress, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Democratic Youth Federation of India.

Democracy is the buzz word for our political system. But is it really so? Is it democracy that a nation where a majority of population is below 40 elects a majority of people above 60 to power? Are we really satisfied with the way our country is being governed? Should it not bother us that at the age people generally take retirement and rest, our politicians actually become eligible to be at the helm of affairs? Why is it so that people below 50 years are considered as political kids?

The country desperately needs some young leaders who personify energy, enthusiasm, morality, and diligence. No doubt we have progressed a lot in the last 62 years but the development pace would have been completely different had some young torchbearers led this process of development. At the time of independence, Gandhi called upon the youth to participate actively in the freedom movement. Young leaders likes Nehru came to his reckoning and led the movement. But this is not the case now. Nowadays we have only a handful of young leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Sachin Pilot, Varun Gandhi etc, but they are in the political scenario because they belong to influential political families. It is next to impossible to find a young leader with no political family background in the furor of politics. There can be two reasons for this deplorable scene of Indian politics. One may be that the youth today are not interested in actively participating in the political field. They are content with what they are doing and how the country is being governed. But this reason seems to hold no ground seeing the discontent shown by the youngsters towards cases like reservation, Jessica lal murder case etc. The youth of modern India are aware of the problems facing our country and the world at large. Given a chance they would be ready to change the political condition of the country for better. Second reason may be that young people are not given opportunities to prove themselves claiming that they are not equipped with experience to participate actively in the governance of the country. This reason seems to be more logical seeing the monopoly of old leaders in almost all the major political parties of the country. Old people should realize that proper development can take place only when they make way for younger people to take control of the activities. There are few things which need to be clarified. One that youngsters do not mean people who are 20 years old with no experience at all. Youth in this context is meant to refer people in their 30s or early 40s with a

good mix of energy and experience. Two, it is not intended to mean that old people should leave the political scene and rest. What is wanted is that they should be there but for guidance because they are treasures of invaluable experience. There are a few things which I would like to suggest. There should be a retirement age for politicians as well which may be around 65 years. There should also be some educational qualification for politicians. How can we give those illiterates the key to our country whom we can not give the key to our house? People with serious criminal background should not be allowed to contest elections. As for the youth of our country, they can contribute in more ways than just contesting elections. Much can be done in areas like educating people, raising awareness about various social ills, and many other areas. We can just wish that the next time we go to vote we find more names of youngsters who can make our country a better place to live in.
