TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Health & Physical Education Instructor, Northeastern Illinois University, 2011-present Full-time Health and Physical Education faculty member responsible for teaching a variety of courses to teacher-preparation students. Such courses include; Individual Sports, Organization and Management in Physical Education, Weight Training, Health for Effective Living, Nutrition, Sex Education, Curriculum Development in Health Education, and Consumer Education. Developed and implementing new course; (PEMT 341) Organization and Management in Physical Education during the Spring 2013 semester. Collaborating with other Physical Education faculty members to construct a plan to delineate the course sequence as well as update course descriptions and objectives to align with state and national standards. Teaching methods include exposing students to a foundation of knowledge related to health and physical education content areas while strongly emphasizing their own skills in teaching pedagogy. Active learning techniques, integration of technology, and best practices in health and physical education are utilized in all courses. Health &Physical Education Teacher, Oswego District 308, 2009-2011 Provided instruction to 9th-12th grade students in the areas of health and physical education. Collaborated with other Health Education teachers to revise all final exams. Directly responsible for the revision of the nutrition unit, including all assessments for Health Education. Introduced non-communicable disease unit into curriculum. Incorporated new technology into courses, including SMART boards in health and Dance Dance Revolution for Physical Education.

Physical Education Instructor, Northern Illinois University, 2005-2011 Instructed undergraduate Kinesiology and Physical Education students in a variety of courses. Such courses included; Team and Individual Sports, where specific skill development in tennis, badminton, track & field, soccer, volleyball, softball, and flag football were learned. Guided students on the development, implementation, and evaluation of personal fitness program. Instructed students on the five health-related fitness components, nutrition, and stress management. Mentored new instructors as needed, assisted with purchasing of equipment, and ordering of textbooks. Health Education Student Teacher, Waubonsie Valley High School, 2009 Designed unit and daily lesson plans for tenth grade Health Education students. Instructed health class for thirteen English Language Learners. Participated and contributed to IEP meetings.
