The Student Success Center, housed within the Division of Student Development, aids students in fulfilling their individual academic and career potential by providing intentional, developmentally appropriate opportunities for self-reflection and discovery, encouraging experiential learning, and supporting students' discernment in vocational, personal and academic choices. The two locations of the Student Success Center (one on the main campus, and one on the Medical Center campus) are a product of a collaborative relationship between Student Affairs and Academic Affairs. In the five years since its inception, student use of the Student Success Center has grown tremendously, approximately doubling student access to academic advising, tutoring, writing support, career services, and disability services. The Student Success Center is seen as a one-stop shop for student support, prompting reorganization and growth in professional positions to meet student demands. We are seeking highly motivated professionals who are interested in collaborative work that supports the academic and career success of a diverse student body. Program Director, Major Exploration Academic Advising (1) The Program Director for Major Exploration provides leadership and vision to the advising office for undergraduate students who are deciding on a major/s; designing intentional learning opportunities and providing developmental advising. The position includes supervision of two academic advisors, as well as direct interaction with students with an assigned caseload of approximately 75 still deciding students and as an academic coach for students. The Program Director is responsible for academic decisions regarding probation and dismissal, and major changing. The Program Director is an active member of the Saint Louis University Academic Advising Leadership Committee, serves as a university liaison and works closely with Career Services, Undergraduate Admissions, academic departments, and the Office of the Registrar. Preferred qualifications include a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, and/or Counseling, experience advising undeclared and transfer students in higher education; knowledge regarding developmental and appreciative advising philosophies, familiarity and experience working with career services, experience in team building and working within fast-paced environments, excellent oral and written communication, the ability to interact professionally and collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students, and a demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion and diversity. Academic Advisor- Student Success Center, Medical Center (3) Advising at Saint Louis University is comprised of a decentralized system of ten academic advising offices which support student success and retention. One such advising office, Medical Center Advising, reports to the Division of Student Development. Academic Advisors in the Medical Center Advising office provide developmental advising to undergraduate students housed in the School of Nursing and Doisy College of Health Sciences. Advisors at SLU take an integrated approach by working collaboratively with faculty across disciplines to support student success. In addition, academic advisors help support institutional initiatives that foster retention and student success by participating in the Student Success Centers academic coaching program. Each advisor in the Medical Center advising office is assigned a caseload of approximately 275 students and monitors academic progress throughout a students tenure within their program. Preferred qualifications include a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, and/or Counselingrelated fields, 0-2 years experience within the field of academic advising and an understanding of developmental and appreciative advising philosophies; experience working with diverse populations in advising and initiatives that support student learning; strong organizational skills, ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and faculty both written and orally; desire to work in a fast-paced environment that focuses on team work and collaboration; understanding and knowledge of student information systems such as BANNER.

Academic Advisor & Coordinator for First-Year Interest Groups (1) This unique position includes responsibilities as both Academic Advisor for the Major Exploration advising office and as the Coordinator for First-Year Interest Groups. The Academic Advisor duties include engaging students in developmental advising, to help them define their skills, interests and abilities to aid in their major decision-making process. Advisors within Major Exploration meet on average three times per semester with their students and work collaboratively with Career Services in helping students discover their vocational calling. The Coordinator for First-Year Interest Groups duties include providing vision and support for the successful implementation of academic and student development partnerships and living-learning programs that connect curricular and co-curricular undergraduate student experiences and enhance student learning. The Coordinator assists with the successful implementation of residential learning communities and first-year interest groups and works with varied assessment initiatives. Ideal candidates will hold a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, and/or Counseling-related fields, 0-2 years experience within the field of academic advising and/or experience working with learning communities, residential life, and student life; an understanding of developmental and appreciative advising philosophies; experience working with diverse populations in advising and initiatives that support student learning; strong organizational skills, ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and faculty both written and orally; desire to work in a fast-paced environment that focuses on team work and collaboration; understanding and knowledge of student information systems such as BANNER. Coordinator, Academic Support (2) The Coordinators of Academic Support (one located in the Student Success Center - Frost campus, and one in the Student Success Center - Medical Center) provide academic support functions to students in the areas of tutoring, academic coaching, writing, disability services, and supplemental instruction. Coordinators for Academic Support will develop initiatives that will be included in academic workshops, distributed to faculty, and utilized in University 101. In addition, each Coordinator for Academic Support will aid in the coordination of scheduling out-of-class testing accommodations and working with students needing various disability accommodations. Ideal candidates will hold a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, and/or Counseling related fields, 0-2 years experience within the field of academic support; an understanding of academic support-related functions; experience working with diverse populations in initiatives that support student learning; strong organizational skills, ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and faculty both written and orally; desire to work in a fast-paced environment that focuses on team work and collaboration; understanding and knowledge of disability accommodations and/or disability law. Career Development Specialist (1) A team of Career Development Specialists provide career counseling, internship and job search services, and outreach programs to students and alumni; administer and interpret career assessments; oversee the case management of assigned active employers; assist with career services events; teach career decision-making courses; coordinate internship education programs; and market career services to students, alumni, and faculty/staff. The vacant Career Development Specialist position, while providing general support to the campus community, will have a specific focus of support for students enrolled in the John Cook School of Business, working collaboratively with faculty and staff in the Business School. Preferred qualifications include a Masters degree in Counseling, Higher Education or related field; supplemented with 2 years of related work experience; counseling skills, knowledge of student development theory and career counseling, verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, ability to conduct career assessments, ability to develop and give presentations, and commitment to supporting the needs of students from underrepresented populations.
