Centre Training programme/Workshop on Bio-Diversity Conservation for Pondicherry Teacher Trainees (DIET-Lawspet) at Auroville Botanical Garden on 12.03.2013

The C.P.R.Environment Education Centre, Chennai has Organised a one day workshop on Bio-Diversity Conservation at Botanical Garden, Auroville on 12.03.2013. Nearly 89 teacher

trainees of II Year D.Ted studying in DIET, Lawspet, Puducherry attended the workshop along with 10 lecturers of DIET. Puducherry. The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr.N.Baskar, the principal of DIET ,

The trainees were devided into two groups, one group being taken to the garden and exposed to various medicinal plants by Mr.Satyamurthy and Tmt Kamatchi resource persons from Aurovill Botanical Garden and the other group being explained to conservation of Bio Diversity through Powerpoint presentation by Mr.V.Ramalingam, Env.Educator. After Tea Break the two groups were exchanged for the same activities.

After lunch one group was taken to organic garden and other group was given group work to discuss the impact of climate change on Bio-Diversity.. The group discussion were anchored by the resource person Thiru P.Nagendiran, Lecturer(Rtd) . After Tea Break the activities were exchanged for the other group.

It is interesting to note that the special lunch prepared using organic vegitables was served to the participants and they enjoyed much. More over the lemon grass tea and sundal during tea time were offered to them. Lastly the certificates and phamplets on flora and fanua of Aurovill area were distributed to the participants with vote of thanks by one of the participants.
