SETTING THE METER : Before putting the instrument in service

It has to be programmed for CT & PT ratio. To ensure proper communication, set the correct The unit ID. The Baud rate. Also ensure the Auxiliary Power Supply (rated 90V 250V AC/DC).

To program the METER for the above parameters, 04 keys are provided viz. PROGRAM key PRG, UP Key ,DOWN key & the ENTER Key 1) First connect the rated Auxiliary Supply with correct polarity & switch ON the instrument. 2) Pressing the PRG key, 2000 will be displayed. Press the key to set 2006, which is the password of the unit & common to all the units. 3) Now Press the Key. The unit will display SET CTR. Again press the KEY to enter the desired CT primary. Now press the or keys to set the CT primary value. CT primary can be set between 100-2000A in steps of 1A. Once the desired value is displayed, again press the Key. The units CT primary is now set. 4) Now Press the Key & press the key. can be set between . The unit will display SET PT. Again press the KEY to

enter the desired PT primary. Now press the or keys to set the PT primary value. PT primary 11KV-220KV in steps of 1KV. Once the desired value is displayed, again press the Key. The units PT primary is now set. 5) Once again press the key. The unit will display UNIT ID. Press the Key to enter the desired unit ID. Now press the or key to set the unit ID. Unit ID can set for any value between 1 to 250. Once the desired value is displayed, again press the Key. The units ID is now set & the unit will again display UNIT ID. 6) Next pressing the key, the unit will display

BAUD & its default value. Press the key to enter

the desired baud rate. Now press the or key to set the baud rate. The baud rate can set for any standard values of 19.20, 38.40, or 9600. Once the desired value is displayed, again press the key . The units BAUD is now set & the unit will again display BAUD. 7) Pressing the key, the unit will displays SET RTC. By pressing key unit will display SET HOUR again press key it will display default value. . Now press the or key to set hour. Press the key & Press key it will display SET MINUTE. Again press key it will display default value. . Now press the or key to set minute press key. In this way set DATE & TIME to come out of the RTC setting press PRG key. Normally it is factory set. Again press key the unit will display SET

Press key , 2000 will be displayed. Press the key to set 2007, which is the password

for setting TOD of the unit & common to all the units. Press key it will display SLOT NO. 1 & its start time & end time. Press key to select any parameter. By pressing or keys set required start time & end time. Again press key & select SLOT NO. 2. by pressing key. Use the same procedure for setting start & end time of all slots (SLOT NO 2, SLOT NO 3, SLOT NO 4) 8) Again press PRG key to come out the TOD setting & press key & select

SAVE option. Press

key to save the set values & quit. If you dont want to save the values & want to quit without saving, press the key and the unit will display QUIT. Press the key to quit without saving. 9) Now the Instrument is set & ready to put into service. Switch OFF the Power Supply & connect the CT & PT secondary correctly. Switch ON the power supply & the instrument will continuously display the set parameters. 10) The set values are stored in non-volatile memory & are retained indefinitely even in absence of Auxiliary Power Supply. MODBUS Function DETAILS: The output of ACCORD make Multi-Function Transducer Model MFM-02 is through RS-485 Communication port & uses the MODBUS RTU Protocol. The output can be directly given to a SCADA system or any other Data Acquisition system, operating on the same Protocol. The MODBUS protocol generates the format for the masters query & places it on the device address as well as on the function code defining the requested action, data to be sent and on the error-checking field. The protocol also constructs the slaves response message. This message also contains fields confirming the action to be taken, any data that is to be returned, and the error-checking field. If an error occurs in receipt of the message or if the slave is not able to perform the requested action, then the slave will construct an error message and will send it as its response. The interface (connection) between the Data Acquisition system and the transducer is established using twisted pair screened wire & all +ve & -ve terminals are multi-drop connected. Ensure proper earth connection to avoid any possibility of loop currents. Ensure matching of impedances of the termination load and that of the wire at both ends of the line. The maximum length of RS-485 network is limited to 3900 feet (1200 meters) & the maximum number of transducers that can be connected is limited to 31. The unique addresses of each MFM-02 can be set to any value between 1 and 250. The format for each byte in RTU mode is as follows. Coding system Function Code Data Format Error checking field Bits per byte : : : : : 8-bit binary, hexadecimal 0-9, A-F Two hexadecimal characters are contained in each 8-bit field of the message 03 for read & 06 for write. 32 bit or 16 bit as mentioned in the table below. Most significant byte first. 2 byte CRC (cyclical redundancy check). 1 start bit 8 data bits 1 parity bit - none 1 stop bit if parity is used & 1 or 2 bits if no parity is used. Transmission speed : 19.20, 38.40, or 9600 bps. Note that all the settings are user configurable, only at the instrument end.
