TASK 1: 1. Where do you connect the AC supply for the conversion? The AC Voltage is connected to the CON1 and CON2 and will be used as input for the converter.

2. What converts the AC to DC voltage? The 7805T does the conversion of AC to DC.

TASK 2: 1. Where does the voltage to be regulated coming? The necessary voltage to be regulated will come from a USB connection. TASK 3: 1. What is the use of Sensor in the schematic diagram? The sensor is used as the place where weighing happens. It where the data for the weight come from when it sense an object placed on it. TASK 4: 1. Why is PIC Microcontroller selected as the microcontroller for the system? PIC Microcontroller is the suited microcontroller for the system since it is designed for wide range of interface and used to connect the A/D converter. Also, most of weighing scales which are digital in nature are controlled by PIC Microcontroller. 2. How the system works?

By connecting the system to an external power supply and regulating the voltage coming from a supply, the system is turned on. The object to be weight is placed on the sensor as seen on the schematic diagram. The change in the weight initially decided and the weight when the object is scaled is known by the microcontroller after the A/D converted the values. The microcontroller also works as the bridge from the scale to the PC where the scaled weight is displayed.

3. Cite other systems the can be designed using the PIC Microcontroller. PIC Microcontroller can be used on systems which are electronic devices such as alarm systems, computer control systems, and cellular and smart phones. They are also used in the latest cameras available in the market.

TASK 5: 1. What diode is used on the component? The diode used is a regular diode with value of 1N4004. 2. What is the output voltage of the Converter? The output voltage is a DC Voltage.

TASK 6: 1. How many pins are used in the ADP3303 IC and are all pins used for the system? There are 8 pins for the ADP3303 IC and one pin is not used.

TASK 7: 1. How many pins are there in the AD7781 IC? There are 16 pins for the AD7781 IC. 2. How many capacitors are connected to the sensor? There are three capacitors connected to the sensor. TASK 8: 1. What is the used of the oscillator in the system? The oscillator will serve as the clock pulse for the microcontroller. 2. What type of external voltage source and its value is used on the microcontroller? The microcontroller uses +5V battery as an external voltage source.
