Israel and the Land

A Promise Kept

There have been many debates whether or not God gave the totality of the land to
the people or whether the Jews shall one day possess the land with the ancient boundaries
during a millennial reign of Christ. The following passages indicate that Israel did receive
the land they were promised.

Joshua 11:23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said
unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their
divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

Joshua 21:41-45 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of
Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs. 42 These cities were every one
with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities. 43 And the LORD
gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they
possessed it, and dwelt therein. 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about,
according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all
their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45
There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house
of Israel; all came to pass.

Joshua 23:13-16 Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive
out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you,
and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good
land which the LORD your God hath given you. 14 And, behold, this day I am going
the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not
one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake
concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
15 Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which
the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things,
until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath
given you. 16 When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which
he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to
them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish
quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.

Nehemiah 9:8 And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with
him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites,
and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast
performed thy words; for thou art righteous:

Nehemiah 9:21-25 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness, so that
they lacked nothing; their clothes waxed not old, and their feet swelled not. 22
Moreover thou gavest them kingdoms and nations, and didst divide them into
corners: so they possessed the land of Sihon, and the land of the king of Heshbon, and
the land of Og king of Bashan. 23 Their children also multipliedst thou as the stars of
heaven, and broughtest them into the land, concerning which thou hadst promised to
their fathers, that they should go in to possess it. 24 So the children went in and
possessed the land, and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the
Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, with their kings, and the people of the
land, that they might do with them as they would. 25 And they took strong cities, and
a fat land, and possessed houses full of all goods, wells digged, vineyards, and
oliveyards, and fruit trees in abundance: so they did eat, and were filled, and became
fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.

1 Kings 4:21 And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river unto the land of
the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought presents, and served
Solomon all the days of his life.

1 Kings 8:56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel,
according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good
promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
