BMC SCHOOL My experience with E-teaching and BMC I have bagged in a month and a halfs experience working in Dharavi

schools and have obtained great insights that I was searching for, since I have started working in this program. By working intensively with almost all schools at Dharavi, I got an opportunity to understand the way BMC works in schools, the way people try to play games or as popularly called politics, where behind the smiles of the teachers are hidden truths that can annoy the one who is smiled and invited with warm hearted gesture, where helping the poor is the intention of people but their actions can subdue their thought, Here, we are working with the absolute poor and the needy, who need our services desperately! There are times I feel it is a complete Push model where we are pushing the schools to use our DVDs. It made me think, how and why it was a push when the DVD completely caters to the textbook. What is it that is stopping the schools from using it and being dedicated just in teaching English in their class. I got a few incomplete answers in my way whenever I raised it as a question in most of the schools, and everywhere I got this response holidays, vacations, leaves, etc. But the question is What do the teachers do, when they are in school??? Being in a BMC set up, helped me to explore the situations that can make things worse. Or it can be said, that now, we are trying to make things happen in the worse conditions. I heard many NGOs and people working in BMC education for children. I found myself, in a very different position. I was backed up with a hard core social worker who could leave people in his age fascinated by the way he worked. If one would tell him to run in a long distance and win the race, he would do that with a trick of calling his empowered parents where they have already ran half way of the road and winning the race. With his wit and strong networking skills, he can make bring together many empowered souls from the most unexpected regions. Wooohhnever seen a man like him! He is too good! I happened to visit one of the BMC schools a little far from my usual locations, sat with the principal understanding the different kind of work that the teachers are supposed to be fulfilling, even though it is not what their role demands them to do. I was curious to know the different reports that the school has to fill and the list went on..scholarship file, talented childrens file, two ward files, SSA file, Girls attendance file, sports competition, inputs and a few of them. Due to the absence of a clerk, the teachers are required to fulfill this job with the principal. This is sad!

Feeling Need

EXPERIENCE ARTICLE ACTION SUGGESTION AND NEED AS WORKING ASPECT

BMC SCHOOL & CRITICS BMC set up has a lot to give and a lot of learn from. People say working in a BMC set up is difficult, I wondered, how it was, and slowly the secrets were getting unfolded day by day. BMC Teachers here have a lot of paper work to complete, at least, that is what the teachers keep telling. Frustration seized me, as to how can just few papers block the teachers way of doing her own job i.e. teaching! I kept travelling through many lanes and roads to get to the schools just to hear that they havent used our DVDs as they had PAPER WORK! And I kept knocking the doors of the schools, to listen to the same story.story of PAPER WORK, again..and againand AGAIN. Curiosity kept killing me in what were the paper work they really needed to do. Then finally, one day, I met a principal of a BMC school under the 10 BMC schools where our work was supposed to be happening in a full fledged manner, but unfortunately, things never turned up like that! BMC teachers have a senior teacher / teacher in charge within themselves, who is ought to do paper work whenever it comes to the office. She is needed to leave her teaching and complete the paper work instead. She is helping the principal by doing his work and thus works as a clerk in BMC. This seems a terrible position for the teacher as she is doing things apart from her role which seems more important than her teaching business. I can imagine this happening once, but for gods sake, not everytimebut reality speaks, she needs to do that most of the time due to the inpredictable ward forms that pops up with a demand to accomplish the task then and there. I wonder, who has brought a ban to have clerks in BMC set up. They are really required there. No wonder unemployment still exists in our country where even the educated doesnt get a job! Where there is so much of paper work surrounding the principals desk, a computer with a net connection could be so much of help, I shared. But this idea, even though has occurred to the BMC isnt still been able to be bring to functionWhy on earth cant they execute this simple task which can save so many souls energy in doing unrequired activity! Apart from the paper work, teachers are sent for election duty! Somebody explain it to me in simple language, why the teacher again???? Elections are supposed to be happening in between the year and not in VACATIONS! What did the little children do, to make their lives miserable in school. Children come to study and not to look at empty classrooms where no teaching is happening. Grow up people, the ones who call themselves Governmentplease recheck your priorities well againwhat do you want? A country with good responsible children who are well educated or just mere children with no knowledge at all.?? What is the vision you are actually seeing? The problem doesnt stop here, apart from it, just in the midst of the year as schools are going on, teachers are called for trainings. Trainings which I read, teachers are half asleep or where training really doesnt make a difference to their daily teaching. Where trainers may also not be well equipped to handle the sessions or thorough with their topic but still do have trainings conducted. I cant understand the motive of having training which dont have any learning in them esp. if it cant be brought to implementation!
