BOLIRAO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TITLE OF THE PROGRAM: BES outdoor Herbal Garden OBJECTIVES: 1. To take pleasure in working and seeing living things grow. 2. To beautify our school garden. INTRODUCTION: Herbal gardening has been around for centuries and the joys of an herbal garden are well know too many gardeners. Even beginner gardener can have a high quality of success by starting with the basic and working their way up to a complicated herbal garden. You can plant a container herb garden or an indoor herb garden. There are three categories of herbs that can be grown in your herbal gardens, culinary herbs, ornamental herbs, or medicinal herbs. Culinary herb gardenings purpose is to add spice and flavor to your cooking. Culinary herbs are the herbs that use fresh or dried leaves in cooking some of the classic culinary herbs are parsley, oregano, rosemary and basil. You may even want to plant some sage and thyme. There is a difference between herb and spices. Spices are seeds, roots, fruits, flowers, and bark while as mentioned above, culinary herbs are fresh or dried leaves. Ornamental herb gardening can make your garden not only practical but beautiful too. By ornamental we mean that the primary current usage is purely decorative. Now we come to medical herbs. Many doctors are prescribing medical herbs as well as mainstream medicine. There are three ways that the medicinal herbs work on the body. Medicinal herbs have been known to strengthen an organ so that it can heal itself. Some medicinal herbs purge the body of toxins and illness, while others build up the immune system which will help in retarding illness. The Bolirao Elementary School support the program of the Department of Education, the Clean and Green Program based on DepEd Memo. 77, s. of 1995 establishing a Clean and Green Project to promote the cleanliness of the school and its beautification as well. STRATEGIES: Below are the activities to be done for the implementation of the BES Outdoor Herbal Gardens. 1. Meet the members of the committee for planning.

Identify a specific site in the school campus for the Outdoor Herbal Gardens. Collect/gather seedlings and bamboos for the fence from the parents and pupils. Encourage the parents to be involved in the making of the project. The making/implementation of the BES Outdoor Herbal Gardens. The teachers, parents and the pupils should work collaboratively for an implementation of this program. 7. Encourage the pupils to take part in the maintenance of the project. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: After meeting with the members of the committee for the planning of the BES Outdoor Herbal Gardens, the teacher in charge of the project immediately started to ask from parents, and pupils an herbal plant and bamboos for the outdoor herbal gardens project. When all things needed were set and ready, the implementation/making the BES Outdoor Herbal Gardens was done on the specified site for it.
