After the very recent firing incident at the Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, another recent incident of school terror has taken aback the people of United States by shock and horror. A seventeen year old has been taken under police custody for attempt to assault charges. Derek Shrout, a student at the Russell Country High School in Seale has been accused of planning to use homemade explosives in a terrorist attack against a listed target of six students and a teacher from his school. This plan of Shrout was fortunately put to the right end, after his journal containing clear notes on how the teen was planning to hurt his targets was found by a teacher and was immediately sent over to the police authorities for further investigations. Shrout initially denied all the charges against him, as he claimed that his journal contained just a series of fictional writings and did not depict his intentions in any way. However, further police investigations made at the teens house revealed everything in contrary to Shrouts statements. Heath Taylor, Russell Country Sheriff while speaking to the media revealed that police found homemade explosive items that included a number of cans drilled with holes that contained pellets inside. Moreover, two bigger cans were labeled as, Little Boy and Fat Man, which were actually the codenames given to two of three atomic bombs dropped in Japan in the Second World War. All these homemade explosives found at Shrouts house were immediately ceased. Police stated that these explosives were just a step or two behind from actually being used as weapons.

Today afternoon, Shrout was supposed to appear for a court hearing. However, not much is being said about this in the media. Nevertheless, the high school student is still under police custody at the Russell Country Jail. In recent times, the incidents of juvenile delinquency have been in a rise in the United States of America. Shrout is just one of the many teenagers across the country of United States who have been indulging in various forms of criminal activities. The only government policy that can ensure that such incidents dont happen again would be to ensure proper counselling of teenagers and making sure that they receive a healthy school and home environment. According to President Obama, ensuring better security in schools may ensure that such incidents dont happen in the future. However, it is also important to make sure that such criminals are not born in the lands of America, and proper internalization of values and norms into the minds and personalities of every individual through various institutions of the society might assist with that.
