On-the-job Training at Asialink

By Danica Frilles

Asialink Finace Corporation is the leading and fastest growing finance company in the Phillippines. It was hard to find a company where we could conduct our on-the-job training. Wed inquired at almost all the company in Paraaque but we failed to find one. It took us 4 days before we finally found Asialink. The four of us were hired, me, Joanna, Paula, and Charlene. The marketing agent was the one who hired us. He is Mr. Mark Almanzor. We were assigned as his assistants and fulfilled our duties until we reached the required

number of training hours we needed. Before we started training, Mr. Almanzor orientated us. He introduced us to the employees and agents and staffs. He also told us a little background and history of Asialink. At first it was hard beacause we were all nervous and it was very awkward to even move. For the firts two weeks, wed managed to help a little but it was still awkward so our help was pretty limited. Then after few more weeks, things started to look up. They began treating us equally. They even gave us some food when there were celebrations. They also asssigned us to different departments so we could help with everything and not feel much like a tresspassers. Most of the times we were asked to pull out some folders, sometimes we handle phone calls and inquiring customers. It was hard to handle phone calls because some of the callers were mad and demanding. My favorite part was encoding because it involved computer and I could work in piece and no pressure.

Weve learned a lot from the staffs, specially from Mr. Almanzor. But mostly, it was all about marketing instead of programming. They taught us how to compute interest rate and what fill-up form to give to the customers. It was more of accounting stuffs so, i think its not helping that much but we didnt have much choice to complain. They were kind to us and very approachable.

(with Ms. Cj and Ms. Cathy)

Ms. Cj is the releasing agent. She deals with the releasing and confirming of cheques. Ms. Cathy on the other hand, is the one who deals with the payments and also with cheques confirmation.

Our last day was filled with emotions because during the time we were working there, we had managed to become close with the staffs and agents. We had a little celebration before we bid our last goodbye. We started our traing there on November 16, 2012 to January 29, 2013.
