Visit to M/s BASF Construction Chemicals [India] Pvt. Limited Factory


situated at Mumbai.

The functioning as regards to manufacture of wide range of products and in Quality


Control implementation was explained by Shri Vijay Y. Gharat , Application Engineer
and Shri Amarjeet Singh Kalsi QC Executive , M/s BASF Construction Chemicals
[India] Pvt. Limited Factory, Mumbai.

Technical discussions as regards to the applicability for our purposes were elaborately
discussed with Dr. Anil Bendale Technical Manager, Shri Upen Patel, Marketing Head,
Shri Shailesh M. Sonar, Regional Sales Manager and Shri Charles S. Jones Product
Manager, M/s BASF Construction Chemicals [India] Pvt. Limited Factory, Mumbai.

The profile of Company with its scope as regards to manufacture of chemicals was
presented by Shri Upen Patel Head Marketing, M/s BASF Construction Chemicals
[India] Pvt. Limited Mumbai, Division, with its main office at Germany.

The Laboratory of M/s BASF Construction Chemicals [India] Pvt. Limited Factory,
situated at Mumbai was visited on dated 22.01.2009 to 24.01.2009 by Shri
K.P.Chakerwarti, DGM - FQA, Adani Power Limited Mundra; Shri Narayan Parida,
Quality In-charge M/s Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Mundra; and Shri Pradeep
Panchal, Quality In-charge, M/s GDC, Mundra.

Prima-facie it has been observed that the facilities for In House testing ,Quality Control
and Research and Development facilities of Chemicals manufactured by the Company
are satisfactory.

The queries raised were elaborately and satisfactorily explained by Shri Vijay Y. Gharat,
Application Engineer and Shri Amarjeet Singh Kalsi QC Executive, Dr. Anil Bendale
Technical Manager.

The various chemicals were studied as to get dual advantage of workability and
retardation in setting times.

The physical tests to access Liquid Admixture: Rheobuild 821 EJ, proposed to be used
were carried out at Mundra site on 14.11.2008 prior to our this visit to the Factory.
The tests conducted at site included the assessment of
1. CCS at age of 7 days and 28 days
2. Delays in setting times
3. Workability requirements in terms of slump
Now the Chemical Characteristics Properties of Liquid Admixture Tests were conducted
at the laboratory to assess the values of chemical parameters.
The values obtained are as under:
1. p H 06.88 at temperature 250C
2. Specific Gravity 01.210 at temperature 250C
3. Total solids 42.74 %
4. Chloride Ion Content 0.0012 %

These are compatible with the requirements for Reinforced Cement Concrete as per
relevant IS 9103.

The Chemical Characteristics Parameters tested at laboratory of M/s BASF Construction


Chemicals [India] Pvt. Limited, situated at Mumbai were witnessed by
1. Shri K.P.Chakerwarti, Adani Power Ltd,
2. Shri Narayan Parida, Simplex Infrastructure Ltd,
3. Shri Pradeep Panchal, Gannon Dunkerly & Co. Ltd.
And the observations recorded appearing as separate sheets, duly signed, forming the
part of report is attached.

Recommendations and Conclusion:


Based on the above observations for Chemical Characteristics Parameters and
earlier obtained CCS records ,Slump and Delays in setting times it can comfortably
be concluded that Liquid Admixture Rheobuild 821 EJ suits our requirements .
