Great change is taking place in the world. We are in the middle of a global trans- formation that is affecting every aspect of life. This process is creating fear and uncertainty for some, but for others, it presents a wonderful opportunity. The world as we have known it is dying and a new one is emerging. Those who are able to let go of old ways will enjoy the process and be able to contribute to the great- est experience the world has ever known -- the birth of a new age. As part of this process, ancient knowledge is becoming available to assist us. Reiki is a technique that can foster the qualities in us nec ary to easily make the transition and create the unity and love that will be the essence of the new millennium. Aspects of Change Scientific discoveries and new technologies constantly coming into us along with the increase in world population are creating a situation unlike any this planet has seen before. The very premise on which civilization is based is about to shift, altering the fabric of society itself. The awesome number and rate of change taking place, even when positive, is becoming increasingly difficult to deal with. This is true on a global scale, and in our personal lives. Stress in society is at an all time high. The world population has increased to over six billion people, with the last billion added in just eleven years! The acceleration in growth of the human population is having a positive affect on the global economy by greatly increasing the need for food, shelterand other commodities, while at the same time, depleting our vital resources and creating pollution problems. The speed and power of computers is doubling every 18 months. Computers currently in use by millions of people all over the world are more powerful than those available only to Universities and large arch groups a few years ago. Communication tech- nology is also improving at a phenomenal rate. Satellite TV, fac- simile machines, cell phones and email are evolving rapidly. Over 100 million Internet users are now making instant, low cost com- munications all over the world — and the number of users contin- ues to grow! It is projected that by the year 2002 there will be over 350 million users worldwide. The speed of the Internet is about to increase by 50 to 100 times its present rate, making real time video, music and other enhanced forms of entertainment a reality. All over the planet, Personal TV stations, virtual reality as well as a multitude of unthought of technologies are about to become available. All of this is stimulating a greater sense of inter- connectedness between people and is causing us to change the way we look at the world. We are starting to accept the world in its wholeness, rather than thinking of it as composed of separate and often opposing parts. As the Piscean Age yields to Aquarius, we are also going through changes on a metaphysical level. The consciousness of the Piscean age is characterized by the dependence of the masses on an au- thority figure to whom they surrender their power. Monarchie: dictatorships and religious and corporate hierarchies reflect this Piscean paradigm. In the area of spiritual practices, we see this in the structure of the Catholic church as well as most other western iiand many Eastern religions. A “one size fits all” mentality is imposed from the top with one formula of conduct prescribed for the followers below. As we move into the Aquarian Age, individu- ith God and rec to als will connect directly ive guidance spe their unique needs. At the same time they will be guided to inter- act harmoniously with all others. Greater freedom in spiritual and religious expression will abound. Rather than one religion needing to dominate all others to bring world peace, peace will come because all religions and spiritual paths will honor and respect each other and work together for peace. However, society will undergo a profound transformation well as the wa in its values, beliefs and motivation: y it is orga- nized as we move from where we currently are to a firmly estab- lished new world of peace. On a more personal level, corporate downsizing, mergers and buy- outs are causing employees to change jobs more frequently and often relocate to a new part of the country. One, two or more career changes in a lifetime are now often necessary. Marriages are also ending more quickly, burdening the marriage partners and their children with greater hardships and difficulties. The AIDS epidemic, Ebola, the resurgence of TB and the appear- ance of new diseases are creating more complex health problems. While modern medical technology is often helpful, it can be ve expensive and is often the source of new problems. ‘The number of challenges and crisis situations in the world is likely to increase before integration on a new level of harmony is complete. While many of these changes are considered to be un- iiiwanted problems, they will ultimately be seen as necessary and beneficial. Many will consider them to be part of a planetary healing crisis and an integral part of the stress that accompanies positive change. Reiki Reduces the Stress of Change As technology continues to develop and increase in use, people are experiencing major imbalances in their personal lives. Human needs are going unfulfilled and a backlash is developing. ‘To create balance, they are seeking ways to express and nurture their hu- man side, Interest in spiritual things, including the practice of Reiki, is increasing. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It uses no technology at all and is an effective method of gaining balance in our modern lives. It can help alleviate many of the problems our transforming society is creating and also stimulate feelings of love, peace, harmony, joy and all the other qualities needed in the new millennium. Based on subtle life energy that flows through ones hands, a Reiki treatment produces a warm glowing radiance that nurtures and restores vitality. It is a wonderful feeling. Reiki treatments consis- tently demonstrate their positive affects to promote health and happiness as well as improve every aspect of human activity. In its long history of use, Reiki has been known to help or heal every malady known to humanity.
