The Technical University of Varna (TU Varna), Bulgaria is the second largest technical university in Bulgaria. TU Varna is a state university and is divided into seven academic Faculties - Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computing and Automation, Marine Science and Ecology, Social sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture and two colleges. TU Varna is founded in 1962. During the years, TU Varna has become a university with national importance. In the last 45 years more than 40 000 students graduated in 23 specialties. University diplomas are with European acceptance. TU Varna applies successfully e-learning and intensively promotes the young people carriers. TU Varna is a leading education and research center in renewable energy systems, ship equipment architecture, software technologies, Internet and web-applications, ecology, decision-making and risk-analysis. There are more than 40 research and training projects running now, among them 4 projects in the frames of FP7 of EC. The International Projects Office manages these activities of TU Varna. The developed projects provide funding for the European center in TUV, Continuous learning center, CAD-CAM Lab, Linux Lab and other specialized centers in TUV. TU Varna has established contacts in research and education areas with many leading Universities of Europe and outside Europe: University of Nottingham UK, Ghent UniversityBelgium, Grenoble University, France, Rostok University, Tampere University, Finland ets. TUV collaborates closely with Municipality of Varna in projects dedicated to enhancing the role of science in the community and citizenship. The strategy of TU Varna in scientific and society-oriented research aims to establish the institution as a leading innovation and technology center. The following activities are realized: 1) Stable connections with leading EU Universities and companies; 2) Creation of specialized R&D laboratories; 3) Financing of research from own funds; 4) Organization of business-incubators and High-Tech centers; 5) Creation of virtual labs at the university and at the TU-Varna student hostels (for 1500 students); 6) Establishing of Center for Renewable Energy Technologies CRET based on own funds and funds outside and collaboration in EU in the Energy area.
