An intelligent interface to Modbus Controllers

OVERVIEW
The intelligent interface between a Pacom Field Controller and various Modbus controllers adds another dimension to integrated system management. Modbus is a protocol developed for use in Building Management Systems (BMS). The Pacom Field Controller can communicate in Modbus protocol. This enables bi-directional data to be communicated between the Building Management System and the Pacom system. The Pacom Field Controller communicates to various Modbus devices over serial interface by RS 485. With the Modbus support a BMS event can be activated when an alarm occurs on the Pacom System. For example, turning the alarm system on/off could activate lighting and air-conditioning for the appropriate area or floor. A Pacom event can also be activated when a BMS alarm occurs, for example generating an alarm when there is a cooling system failure. In addition to Modbus Pacom also support BACnet, enabling Ethernet communication between the Pacom Field Controller and the building management system. PREREQUISITES
P acom 8001 Field Controller with v1.06 or higher. P acom 1057/1058 Field Controller with v5.06 or higher. P acom GMS v4.06 or higher.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Modbus BMS Interface supports up to 256 digital inputs and 16 analogue inputs. The Pacom Field Controller can receive Confirmed Event Notification service requests (Intrinsic Alarm or Intrinsic Event) from an Analogue or Binary object. The Modbus BMS Interface supports up to 64 digital outputs. The Pacom Field Controller can update the Present-Value attribute using the WriteProperty service request on a binary object.
