Sexual Abuse

The honorable judges and the audience Good morning to you all, Its nice for the oppurtunity to stand up in here for participating in the 2013 English Speech Contest today. This time I would like talk about Child Sexual Abuse . Sexual abuse, also referred to as molestation, is the forcing of undesired sexual behavior by one person upon another. When that force is immediate, of short duration, or infrequent, it is called sexual assault. When the victim is younger than theage of consent, it is referred to as child sexual abuse.
At least 1 of the 3 girls (2 times higher than commonly reported than boys) experienced sexual abuse before 18 years old and 1 of the 4 girls experience it under 14 years old. It's very diverse. Starting from exposing the genitals to the child, grope in the genitals or breasts, vaginal penetration/ anal / oral, forced to be the object of pornography. The perpetrators in general are the ones closest to or known to the victim, such as the biological father / stepfather / uncle / grandfather / brother, a family acquaintance, clergy / teachers, older age, or a stranger. Parents / adults are generally insensitive / believe it when the children said something that indicated they had to go through an improper sexual treatment. Children are considered delusional or seeking attention. This attitude was generally a reflection of the

inability to confront disbelief that mixed with anger to the perpetrators and disappointment and tremendous guilt on their self for not able to protect their children. Sexual abuse of children have psychological impact that affects a reaction such as fear that mixes with anger, shame and guilt, low self-esteem, anxiety, premature exhibit sexual behaviors, and risky sexual behavior. If the experience of sexual violence in childhood not handled properly, it is probable in adolescence or adult, the child will show a tendency to depression, anxiety, insomnia, dissociative disorders and low self-esteem, especially in those who experience sexual abuse from their father / step father, generally exhibit behavioral disorders, teen pregnancy because of a sustainable sexual abuse, or carried out by a her boyfriend. As adults, we should protect the children around us and as early as possible to teach the children to recognize their own body parts, and which areas should not touch by other people, and so as not easily to trust a strangers or to play with the retired place. Based on the data, cases of sexual abuse of children in Indonesia are not small. National Commission for Child Protection ( Komisi Nasional Perlindungan Anak) in 2012 has received about 1634 cases of child sexual abuse. So, how do we in handling cases of sexual abuse of children? We must provide care and treatment as much as possible. We will be able to help more children

escape abuse and trauma. And that is what makes our common endeavour worthwhile.
