So long as you hit on the critical points, all of these questions can be answered fairly briefly. What challenges do Millennials present to teachers in terms of instructional methods and materials? Millennials want an instructional environment that allows them to be collaborative and creative. They like to work in groups and like to have instant feedback on how well they are progressing. They also believe that not all learning has take place in the classroom. Some challenges that they create for a teacher who is not quite as tech savvy as they are is that they may be able to find and process information faster than it can be delivered by the teacher; This makes sitting in the classroom obsolete. In their world, communication can take place almost paperless, this may be a new way of teaching or an uncomfortable way of teaching for who are not part of this generation. Being a Millennial means that you have not grown up in a world without technology, but having access to technology and being surrounded by technology are two different things. There is a digital divide among students of the same age, and finding a middle ground for accomplishing tasks would pose challenges to an educator as well. Some research suggests that the way Millennials were (raised) parented has much to do with their social behavior and sense of self. What was it about their upbringing that has been the

Carr, CIMT 513 focus of some attention? Similarly, what are some of the major national/world events that likely impacted their lives? What factors do you suppose influence the degree to which a young person in the Millennial age range fits into the stereotypical description? In order for someone to be considered a Millennial, they need have grown up in the middle or upper socioeconomic class where they had/have limitless access to technology. It would not be fair to label all people born in this time period as tech savvy, impatient, multi-taskers. If you have always had parents who were there to email you your late assignments, or texted you information that you should have gotten from them before you left home, or made sure that you were getting everything you deserved from your employer then you would stereotypically be a Millennial. If your learning style has always been that you worked better in groups, and always looked for reinforcement from your teacher and guidance from your peers, then you would fit stereotype as well.
