ANNOUNCEMENT

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Date. 17-03-2009
The Forum of Burmese in Europe (FBE) is representing Burmese Communities across Europe dedicating to bringing democracy to Burma. We
would like to announce that due to difference in political stand regarding 2010 election planned by Myanmar Military dictators, we came to
consensus that Mr. Ko Ko Thet (Helsinki Finland) will have nothing to do with FBE in the future and his actions do not reflect those of FBE.

FBE reject the election if the constitution of 2008 May if it is not revised, It is not acceptable to us due to:

1. The full text of Constitution was made public only a month ahead of the plebiscite so that people could study the content.
2. The Military attempts to legitimize its role as the supreme political authority.
3. No legal action shall be taken against those who officially carried out their duties. This clause is to provide i mmunity to the Military
for all the human violations committed since 1988. There are ample evidences that they had committed war crimes, crimes against
humanity, potentially even genocide through forced relocations, tortures, rape, enforced disappearance and extermination.
4. The Constitution will lengthen the military dictatorship.
5. The Constitution took 15 years in the making and the delay was to stall the country’s democratic parties led by Daw Aung San Suu
Kyi. The military refused to recognize the outcome of the parliamentary election of 1990 which NLD won a landslide.

In addition,

6. Condition for a free and fair referendum did not happen.

7. To be voted referendum on May 10, Constitution finalized on Feb 2008 and released to public April 9, 2008.
8. The Constitution strengthened the status quo instead of national reconciliation.
9. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi barred from political process.
10. Series of arrests targeting opponents of constitution.

The 2010 election is the outcome of this constitution and therefore we could not accept it.

Thanks' a lot,
Yours' truly,

FBE Standing Committee
