Knowledge base. Mr. Bancroft introduced a unit on electricity to his fourth grade students. His lesson demonstrated knowledge of both the science content and the developmental needs of his fourth grade students. 2. Communication skills. Mr. Bancroft gave clear directions for his behavioral and academic expectations. Mr. Bancroft used proper grammar when speaking to his class. Mr. Bancroft speaks confidently and authoritatively. 3. Management of student's behavior. Mr. Bancroft had positive expectations for his students. He used proximity, as well as reminders for behavior in a positive manner. Mr. Bancroft waited for his students attention before he began instruction which was a goal that he has been working on since his first observation. 4. Management of learning progress. Mr. Bancroft started his science lesson by saying he needed to get energized and charged up for his lesson. He stepped out to the hall and came back in with balloons stuck to him. He then asked his students to explain why the balloons were sticking to him; through discussion he guided his students to the understanding that it was static electricity. His students were very excited to begin their study of this unit! Mr. Bancroft then used the whiteboard to introduce protons, electrons, and conductors. He used examples that kept the students interest and engaged their thinking. The students were asking in-depth questions as they were constructing their knowledge. Mr. Bancroft had planned for three stations where the students were using balloons to learn about static electricity. At each station, the students were exploring various aspects of electricity through mini guided experiments. The students documented their findings. As the students were working, Mr. Bancroft monitored his students learning and behavior. The structure of this part of the lesson nicely accommodated the learning needs of all of his learners. Due to time constraints, the lesson was not completed during the morning session because the students had physical education class. Mr. Bancroft provided his students with time warnings so they were able to monitor their completion of the current station they were at and begin readying for the transition to PE and lunch. 5. Lesson planning. Mr. Bancroft provided a detailed lesson plan. His thorough planning was evident throughout the lesson and also in his preparation of the classroom (three stations, poster introducing the unit, visual materials). 6. Lesson presentation. Mr. Bancrofts lesson was student-centered. His students were actively engaged in the lesson. 7. Use of materials and resources. Please see comments under Management of Learning 8. Evaluation of self, students, and teaching. Mr. Bancroft has high expectations for himself and his students. He is able to take suggestions for improvement and act upon it. 9. Professionalism. Mr. Bancroft was dressed very professionally and carried himself with confidence. 10. Human relations skills.

Mr. Bancroft relates very well to his students. They know he cares about them and it is evident that they return that care.

Student teacher's progress to this point is: More Than Satisfactory Additional Comments: First, I would like to thank Mrs. Menhennick for her support and mentorship of Cameron. Second, Mr. Bancroft continues to demonstrate a strong teaching foundation as he finishes in his first placement. As he transitions to his placement with Mrs. Lawless, I would recommend considering the following goal: Within your system of classroom management, what could be a subsequent step for addressing reoccurring behaviors (defined as the same student(s) requiring many reminders to correct the same behavior)? Cameron, I so enjoyed my time in your classroom today. I look forward to visiting you in your middle school classroom!
