    IF + present simple , present simple

    If you drink too much, you have a headache


    ( si bebes demasiado, te duele la cabeza)

    1st CONDITIONAL (possible, probable) future

    IF + present simple , will/modal+infinitive/imperative

    If you study hard, youll pass the exams.


    Si estudias duro, aprobars los exmenes Compra leche si sales.

    Buy some milk if you go out.


    If you come with us, you mustnt complain.
    si vienes con nosotros, no debes quejarte

    UNLESS= IF NOT ( si no, a no ser que) I wont go out unless you come with me = I wont go out if you dont come with me

    2nd CONDITIONAL (improbable, imaginary) present


    IF + past simple, would+inf. / could/might
    Consejo: always were: If I were you, I wouldnt lend him any money. ( si fuera t, no le prestaba dinero- all t) If I saw a ghost, I wouldnt tell anybody. ( Es poco probable que veas a uno)

    I would read more books if I didnt have too many exams to mark. ( Es improbable porque ahora no tengo tiempo)

    3rd CONDITIONAL ( impossible) past


    IF + past perfect , would/ could/ might have + participle
    I would have met your brother if I had gone to the party.
    ( habra conocido a tu hermano si hubiera ido a la fiesta. No fui, no lo conoc. Imposible cambiarlo)

    If Helen had had enough money, she would have bought those pretty boots.
    ( si Helen hubiese tenido suficiente dinero, habra comprado esas preciosas botas) Tena dinero? Las compr? NO!
